Let me get this straight: You consider 12 attack power for 2WW with evasion a bad thing? Because those angels deliver that *before* we even consider their triggered ability. Hell, they'd be pretty good without the ability! And I can't really remember the last time I didn't get anything off of it.
I've learned these two are quick to jump to a conclusion on cards. They've been wrong about plenty, despite how confidently they talk about some of them.
Right. White struggles with ramp and card draw. If someone is playing green and/or blue it's almost guaranteed to give you something each time you swing. Even if everyone is tied when you swing it's 4 damage to everyone who can't block and even more if you have any effects buffing your creatures up. I have this card in my Isshin deck and it's never underperformed lol
Lol, yeah, I've gotta' admit, even as overblown as some of the "the Nerds are wrong about everything" comments can be, it's definitely funny that they're wrong about one of the cards they said they were wrong about! :p (In their defense, though, I don't think they're saying it's bad here, just that it's not quite *AS* broken as they thought it would be in their initial review. As I recall, they were super high on it.)
they got another thing wrong and it was saying "all will be one". because "all will be one" doesn't go infinite with "shalai and hallar". i think they meant to say "heliod, sun crowned". "all will be one" works in a similar way to "shalai and hallar", but "all will be one" goes infinite with "the red terror", "quest for pure flame", and any way to put counters on anything in an infinite way like "devoted druid" + "swift reconfiguration"
Battle angels put in work in the new knight deck. They also make myriad in Giada that triggers and makes the copies beefier. I think they still got it wrong.
@@SunriseCavalier yeah the abilities are just extra TBH. Sure you won't capitalize on it most of the time but that's still 12 potential damage and evasion.
When you put up Sword of Hearth and Home I thought you were gonna say you thought it was bad at first and changed your mind 😅 I don’t think it’s insane but if your commander has a super strong etb the card is very powerful
I rock the swords in my Wilson guild artisan deck for what I call 'group voltron'. Swinging at the highest life total, to have the excess mana to do voltron-y things. I get an early wall that beats the table down for laughs. My favorite part is when ppl start gaming their life totals to avoid the bear.
I WANT to love it in my Ayula deck, (and I still do; the ramp plus flickering a bear is great, even with the downsides) but I'm still annoyed that when I first put it in, I forgot that the protection meant Ayula can't put counters on whoever has it anymore. :p
I run it in Yarok to get a double landfall trigger and double creature ETB. It’s very good but they deck is goofy and could run any number of things instead.
Kinda disagree on the Sword of Hearth and Home. I play it a lot and can't remember a single instance where I would have preferred Sword of the Animist over this. The increased mana cost is immediately recovered because lands enter untapped, protection and the extra +1/+1 also make creatures connect more often than not. If there's something to flicker on top of that it just becomes amazing. Maybe your meta just has people playing less white and green and that's why you struggle to make it work.
I think its definitely a meta issue for them. The most common 2 kill spells are white. (Swords & Path). White also has the most common flying creatures. Hearth is a beast,
The reason Battle Angels of Tyr just shot up in price is that it's blowing up in the Knights pre-con as an upgrade card. It's not the best card in the world and niché but it IS a CMC4 flyer with myriad and does a whole lot of work when you're swinging it in a Giada deck by basically just existing and getting those sick +1/+1 counters
Shalai and Hallar goes infinite with a lot of options: Red Terror, All Will be One, Phyrexian Devourer, Heliod (for the lifelink combo) and can be built in a stax naya way. Is pretty fun!
But they do go infinite... One triggers than the other triggers than the other triggers on that while that one triggered from the first trigger it's infinite
@@famousstranger8468 all will be one doesn't put any counters on anything, it just does damage whenever you put counters on something... Kinda like Shalai and Hallar when you put +1/+1 counters on them
Deep gnome is always a welcome card early game. It actually allows you to get ahead of your opponents on lands, doesn’t have that clause that knight of the white orchid has.
Yep. Gnome is real good. I forget it has flash too. Better than archivist. But also fun to randomly kill mana dorks or small Commanders who attack when they shouldn't.
You gotta have at least 3 pieces of graveyard hate. So many decks in the format use the graveyard as a resource even if it isnt their primary gameplan.
Battle Angels of Tyr gonna be on another episode in the future. 4/4 Flying body for 4 is a good return on a french vanilla creature, then this one clocks the whole table in one card slot, pretty solid beats, and then it adds value on top of that, it's a banger. Not a cedh staple or anything, but it's an amazing card lol
I’ve been getting bored of my Chishiro deck, it feels like it’s kinda pleateau’d both in power and fun. Considering converting it to Shalai and Hallar. I don’t have a white counters deck, and there’s a big pile of synergy pieces I’ve been wanting to use somewhere.
So Battle Angels is actually stupid good. Each token copy also has it's ability so if they all connect (They're flyers so hopefully) unless you have the most card in hand, most lands and most life, you're going to get something off of it. If you're at the bottom of the pile, and everyone else is ahead, this card excels. If not, it's still 12 power for 2WW.
Smugglers Share is a very good card imo (still too expansive money wise), but for 3 mana it ll draw you some cards, sometimes makes you treasures; and enchantments arent easy to get rid of !
Maybe in an enchantress deck where your play group loves drawing a ton of cards, this is probably pretty sweet, otherwise, it’s not amazing (I just got a got a copy and am trying to test it to see if it makes my cut).
I find this card works to it's fullest potential if the monarchy is in play, not only does that then send people's attention elsewhere you are guaranteed to draw on each players turn as long as you aren't the monarch
“When it’s not doing those things, it’s doing nothing.” No, Joe, incorrect. You see, there are raccoons in the art. Little raccoon criminals, no less. That’s all the reason needed.
I missed out on the hype on Deep Gnome Terramancer and Smuggler's Horde. I've been building a mono white deck and looking at popular white cards and both those cards keep coming up. Every time I read them, my reaction is that they just aren't good.
I guess this is in response to the Reddit post I pretty much said in that post exactly what you guys say at the end, sometimes I think you’re wrong, sometimes you’re right This is a complex game with thousands of cards, nobody ever gets it right all the time The main thing is you guys put the work in to tell us your opinion and that’s appreciated by me, I love what you guys do, don’t change!
Some of the Swords are "weaker" then others but they are not D tier. They always protect you from 2 colours and as long as you connect(which should be 98% of the time with the right sword) just once you have gotten your 5 manas worth. Theres a big reason why people will remove a sword ASAP is because they give you so much benefit if they stick around. being able to untap with Feast and famine just once can put you so far ahead of the game. I personally like putting them on a doublestrike creature :) With battle angels of Tyr sure it has the potential to wiff but its great in Giada since the token copies get +1 counters when they enter. Also it spiked in price because of Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir
I disagree with the sword statment, I believe these are bad cards if you don't have equipment synergy are REALLY specific synergy for them. Let's talk about heart and home the one in the video. Ramping is a 2 mana effect (Three Visits/Nature's Lore) and flickering is a one mana effect (cloudshift or ephemerate -which bounces twice btw still for one mana-). Are there versions of these effects that are more costly, yes, but they are worse; don't play them. So right there you have a 3, maybe 4 mana worth of an effect, for a 5 mana investment that needs to connect, meaning the creature needs to not have summoning sickness, which delays your play a bunch, especially in a blink deck. Honestly, it's not that they are garbage, it's that they are slow, if you connect with it on turn 4, that's already too slow, play a creature on 2, play swords on 3, attack on 4 just to ramp and blink the creature, congratulation all you've done in the first 4 turn of the game is ramp once and blink a 2 drop, that's incredibly weak. I agree that the swords are cool, but man they are slow, and to say that swinging once with them gives you your 5 mana worth is mad copium, except maybe for sword and fest and famine, but even then, you need to have 5 lands minimum to just NET mana, don't you have anything better to do by that point of the game? Cool cards, play them for flavor and coolness, but power, man if what you want is flickering you can get 3 flicker cards for 5 mana.
@@benjaminbeauregard8269 you forgot to include that all the sword cycle pumps by +2 and the protection from colours is what lets you get though to an opponent. With the exception of a couple of the new swords they can fit into any deck . Using Hearth and Home as an example, any non green deck can use the ramp to its advantage. Theres usually going to be a creature you can flicker as well to get advantage from that effect as well. Against 3 other people someone is probably going to be vulnerable to any number of the swords getting through. Not to mention the number of times Light and Shadow/Fire and Ice has kept my creature safe from removal since most people dont want to waste a board wipe for one creature. of course the swords are so "bad" opponents are automatically trying to remove the creature before you equip or killing the swords so you dont actually connect with damage to get the benefit of said sword.
@@thedanath Pumping 2 is nothing, like let's not kid ourselves here, unless you are going voltron that doesn't mean anything in a format where you need to do 120 dmg. Ramping, again, for 5 mana is atrocious, like it's not bad, it's atrocious. Protections is only relevant 40% of the time, not even counting for colorless. I don't see it, I've never seen, not even once, any of the swords do anything relevant in a game. Sure that guys go two procs and ramped twice and flicker two things, but for 5 mana over two turns, that's not a good rate, it's not awful but it's far from being good. The only one I think is somewhat decent outside of equipment decks is feast and famine, and even then, I wouldn't play it, it can probably easily go infinite with any of the many extra turns spell, so there's that. You do you, but in a format with so many otks, and ridiculous value cards, I don't think it's even worth considering. If somoene plays a swords, I ain't wassting removal for it, I'll use my removal spell on any of the 500 busted cards of the formats, chulane, korvold, rhistic study, smoth etc.
@@benjaminbeauregard8269 Sure if your playing in higher power where your just using extra turns or comboing(boring way to win imo) to win then swords arnt that great. But in a casual setting where no one is going infinite in any way swords are great.
@@thedanath I'm not playing that high level, I hate combos and extra turns, but games usually lasts about 7 rounds, maybe 8 in median, with longer games lasting a bit over 10 rounds. I don't see a sword giving you enough value to justify playing it. What do you remove for it, removal? card draw? ramp? When I make a deck there's always 110 cards I want to fit in, especially if I want to have at least 15 piece of ramp, card draw and interactions each. I simply don't have the space for a very slow value engine that requires a creature you control to connect. If these cards were budget, then I'd say, yeah maybe play them in a budget deck, power level 5, but lol they aren't. Look, if you had good experience with them, good for you, but even playing at my local lgs against very casual players, I have never seen a single swords give enough value that I tought, well that was worth 5 mana and a card. To me they are indeed D tier, playable, but I just don't have the space for it in my deck.
I initially didn't understand the hype for smugglers share (cute art?) Having played with it, my opinion is it can have a very low floor or a very high ceiling. The trick is to put it in a build that can force those triggers in games where it's doing nothing. Cards for Thought: Howling mine, faerie mastermind, Path to Exile & Boseju removal. When raising it's floor, it's more consistently a good card... Imo
Angel tyr I mean is a knight i used it on sidar if i have the melee knight and the double strike knight forget about the trigger thats why i thinks spike is chef kiss to that deck
A free token every turn that people dont really like blocking is a banger. Free death, etb, sacrifice triggers, free token etc. I use it a Wildon/Cultist deck
Never thought I'd live to see the day that "swords of" would be power crept. You had to be there years ago when an active sword of anything would be a threat to fear.
I run Battle Angels of Tyr in decks that care about going wide and connecting with multiple opponents every turn. I'm always happy to see the card in my Marisi and Sidar & Tymna decks almost exclusively for the cheap evasive myriad creature... the bonuses for connecting are just the cherry on top.
Oh, I also run ot in my Isshin deck. I think it's funny to ask "who wants to take 4?"... knowing everyone else is gonna have 2 of the Myriad tokens swinging their way.
Again Swords protect you from 2 colors. It is almost "impossible" to not play in a pod without green or white so you will most likely connect, also not being able to be not removed by the best removals option in EDH (Swords and Path), etc. Rest is just gravy Battle Angel is a superb upgrade for the new Knight precon hence the spike. Still a 4 mana "12 power" creature even it does nothing else. Jadar is still a good enough budget Replacement for Bitterblossom and getting more sac fodder in deck that care about it Tear Asunder is an "exile" effect for 2 for 2 of the best type of card in commander Artifact and Enchantments. The Kicker cost is just gravy in case you want to remove something else. Only playable in BUDGET though. Without budget you get Assassin trophy
Hearth and Home is great in the decks that really care about the flicker. It's definitely not a do all sword kind of like Feast and Famine can be where all decks are going to love untapping their lands.
@@NitpickingNerds The power creep has definitely landed them in a spot where they're not amongst the elite of equipment choices anymore. The protections from them have to matter now which I do think turns a lot of the swords off from being really relevant anymore. Which is probably why I do still enjoy Hearth and home as G/W Protection does get you past a number of the formats premium removal options. Leave only a few single target options of the cards you see regularly that really get underneath it like Pongify, Rapid Hybridization, Chaos Warp, Infernal Grasp, etc
Since they finished the sword of cycle I want then to make a shield of stuff and things that activate their ability when the creature blocks Also I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I loathe blood tokens. They feel so clunky and slow and inefficient
I would never take Knight of the White Orchid over Deep Gnome Terramancer. Terramancer allows you to get ahead of your opponents and not just catch up, it triggers from commonly run cards like Cultivate, Rampant Growth, Three Visits, Path to Exile, Archaeomancer's Map, Myriad Landscape, hell even Chaos Warp can trigger it... Landfall decks will constantly trigger it, Sword of the Animist will trigger it!
Tear Asunder is maybe the best removal spell in a ton of my decks. Exiling enchantments and artifacts ruins so many combos, and the flexibility to exile any other permanent if the need is there has always been valuable. At best it’s a better naturalize, at worst it’s utter end.
I think both naturalize and utter end are too weak tbh. Why play utter end when generous gift, beast with, excise the imperfect, assassin's trophy, void rend and anguished unmaking exists. Naturalize is just a joke, but if you really need an instant that removes artifact and enchantment, just play nature's claim. So yeah, Tear Asunder let's you choose between two bad cards, how does that make it good?
2:02 Holy Shit, The Nitpicking Nerds have been COMPLEATED! They said the thing at the exact same time! All hope is lost for MTG UA-cam, they're already all sleeper agents.
Still waiting for Grave Titan to make an appearance in this series, lol. As for swords, I like Hearth and Home more than Animist. Additionally, if your wincon is an artifact, swords tend to draw a lot of attention and can eat up valuable removal from your opponents so your wincon is less likely to be interrupted.
Sword of X and Y need to go into decks that can reliably have unblockable creatures: for example I have a Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith deck and it loves them Also consider that the swords come with built-in unblockable on at least one player often times I don't think swords are powerful in many decks but in the ones they go in they're pretty good No hate, just my opinion 😊
they got another thing wrong and it was saying "all will be one". because "all will be one" doesn't go infinite with "shalai and hallar". i think they meant to say "heliod, sun crowned". The only reason I continue playing Sword of Hearth and Home is because of the wording of the flicker effect. It says Exile a Creature you Own, not control. This means that you can't use thievery effects, but it does mean you can use trade control effects. My favorite being Gilded Drake. It always throws people off when you gain control of the creature that is not as good only to hit with the sword, flicker your drake, and now you have two of the best creatures on board in play under your control. You can even hold up Roon activation or another flicker spell/effect to do it again. It isn't for every deck but the deck that wants it, really wants it. Also the sword is busted with the new Atraxa as your commander.
I have to disagree with Tear Asunder. If you play Beast Within in your golgari or BGX deck, Tear Asunder is a better card: yes, half of the time, it costs one more mana. But it evens out as half of the time, it costs one mana less. With the upside of exiling (pesky Theros Gods) and not creating the 3/3 token.
One thing i’ll say about smuggler’s share, it’s really meant for mono white, where you’re struggling to draw, where as blue draws without having to do anything. Comparing 2 cards of different colors is barely fair. Similar to putting artifact ramp in any green deck
Man I bet all those people who hate on you guys for having "terrible takes" will totally respect you guys being able to recognize and admit when you make a bad call... I wish!
The biggest problem is that sometimes you get it right (or wrong), and then the game changes and you're not right anymore. back during Ice Age I got all of my copies of Necropotence for FREE because everyone who looked at the card declared it unplayable. 3 Black mana? Skip your draw phase? Pay life for cards? Who is going to cripple their own deck like that?
I do really appreciate those videos where you update on your take of cards. It takes a lot to say publicly that you’ve been wrong and many people can’t accept that, although everyone is wrong and makes mistakes sometimes. So shoutout to you guys for that
I play sword of hearth and home in my Urza, Chief Artificer deck. You're right it's not higher power. But I've cloned this with mechanized production arming my constructs with swords, blinking Urza, Lord High. It gave me so much mana and evasion. The other swords starting blinking etb removals.
Endurance is really good against graveyard decks, but I've found it has just as much utility IN graveyard decks. The first deck I put it in was my Meren deck, and the number of times Endurance has kept my yard from being exiled and kept me from drawing on an empty library is phenomenal. I've also used it as graveyard hate against my opponents, sure, but keeping your yard from getting exiled is also very good. Even if your yard is empty, you at least get the cards back into your library to use again later.
The issue with tear asunder isnt the mana cost its the typing in golgari you usually want creatures. So beast within and assassins trophy take up your nonceeature spell based removal then you have cards like haywire mite and plague crafter that fill the rest in
I personally rate Sword of Hearth and Home above Sword of the Animist. There are pros and cons to each, but the main downside of SoHaH is that you need to connect with somebody, which I think is offset enough by the synergies this has with double strike / any way to give evasion (which it already inherently helps with). Smuggler's Share I'd highly recommend trying out. Obviously Faerie Mastermind is better for the card draw side of things, just like Ledger Shredder, Mystic Remora and Rhystic Study. But those cards are in blue, not white, which makes all the difference. This remains one of the best card draw cards for white, and the fact that it's an enchantment is often a plus because it's harder to remove. For a 3 mana investment, it's mad how much value this card gives you in just a turn cycle or two!
Dont know what you mean about Battle Angel of Tyr. It is a bonus to get the value... its a 4/4 Flying, Myriad for 4 with two relevant subtypes. I still think its a very good card
I kind of disagree with Battle Angels of Tyr, I use it in my current angel deck mostly because it's a 4/4 Flying Myriad angel for 4 mana, it's RARE having such stats with an angel card; the Myriad ability is what makes it powerful and the rest of the effects are just added bonuses. (if any trigger) A nice card for a niche kind of deck, but still powerful.
Cosign on Deep Gnome Terramancer and Smuggler's Share. They've been pretty underwhelming when I've played them. I do think Smuggler's share is good if you play a deck based around Howling Mine effects, like the new Heliod. But not in any deck.
Battle angels of tyr spiked with rebel rising deck that rewards lots of tokens with double strike. You also get to draw extra cards and play them from exile for each opponent attacked.
Cards that don't work as written would be great! When I finally decided to build a Commander deck last year I almost built Ranar. Was almost done with my list when I googled some interactions to make sure I had my combos lined out only to find out most of the deck didn't work due to errata. Pushed me out of the format for another couple months. Not sure I would've recovered if I had actually bought the cards.
Dauthi is an S. Best graveyard hate. I recently built a deck that plays splinter twin with it, saccing the temp token for all those goodies at least once per cycle if not more from untap or more clone shenanigans.
10:01 Nullmage Advocate in the italian version, it allows YOU to return back two cards from your graveyard AND destroy an artifact or enchantment. It was busted as hell. Of course, the original english version states that it's your opponent to benefit from it
6:53 I've loved Endurance since it released, because I've always thought of it as a huge win/win kind of card. It's free graveyard hate in your green deck; while also providing a way to protect your own graveyard from mass-exile. Obviously it sucks to have to shuffle a combo piece that you wanted in your graveyard back into your library, and using something like a Noxious Revival would be substantially better, but losing the cards you wanted to a Tormod's Crypt because you don't have an instant-speed save is a lot worse. Either way, the free graveyard hate aspect is huuuuge.
A deck I run it in also uses it as a combo piece; it's an absolute powerhouse all round. Free graveyard hate, free graveyard protection and then if your deck uses lots of tutors like a Yisan deck, it can shuffle in pieces that you can then tutor and act as a combo piece.
I believe you are very wrong about Battle Angels. They works wonders and proc on multiple cards in a Knight tribal. They work even if you don't get the "tie" proc from your opponents
The fact that you have to connect to trigger the sword means that hearth and home gets you 2 lands if you give the equipped creature double strike lol 😆 You could also flicker a wood elves or sad robot twice if you want 4 lands per attack haha 👌
As a regular to level up minneapolis, i wish that magic con didnt happen during finals. Nonetheless, thank you guys for coming to the fundraiser there, it was so great to see all the pictures of magic people playing in my lgs, especially when theyre supporting trans youth.
All apologies, but I have to counter this one in particular: On Faerie Mastermind: Mono-White (W), Orzhov (WB), Selesnya (GW), Boros (RW), Naya (RGW), Mardu (WBR), Abzan (WBG), AND Dune-Brood players (BRGW): "...It's not in my commander's color identity."
Shalai and Halar also combo with Heliod, so 3 of the so called 1 card combos (since the other one is the commander) and green and white tutors make it reeeally easy to go infinite with that commander.
dauthi voidwalker is insane i have it in my latest deck, my very first game i've played it turn 2 and completly shut down a player, then i used his ability and keep bringing him black to life, so i was basicly playing 4 deck at once, had access to so many good stuff, i will add it in all my black dec for sure.
Hey guys, sorry you got some hate on that Reddit thread. Those people commenting that crap can suck it. They don't know what its like to think of content, edit videos, and also review and rate cards all the time. I hope you guys make more of these videos in the future to silence the haters. Cheers.
TBH I feel like battle angels of Tyr was written wrong and they realized it too late to change it, every other effect like that works even if the person you hit has the same cards/hp/creatures as another player, the fact that if 2 players have the same life, the same cards or creatures it does literally nothing seems very, very weird, unintuitive and just kinda bad.
also to be fair for you guys this is the same reason why wizards is doing the wrong thing by over printing too many new cards. often it takes a long period of digestion to understand how a card works or functions relative to other cards. unless the card is just a strictly better version of another card in terms of stats and mana cost, it can be hard to evaluate how impactful all of the lines of text that wizards now puts on cards in an attempt to confuse players in order to motivate players to buy new cards/content to experiment with. to get cards wrong isn't a bad thing. it is part of the play experience/discovery which makes magic more enjoyable.
A ‘Cards that don’t work as written’ episode would be nice!

White and green tend to have a lot of creatures as well
I think its definitely a meta issue for them. The most common 2 kill spells are white. (Swords & Path). White also has the most common flying creatures. Hearth is a beast,

Indeed.
It attacks for 17 on turn 4 in Giada. What more could I want?
Shalai and Hallar goes infinite with a lot of options: Red Terror, All Will be One, Phyrexian Devourer, Heliod (for the lifelink combo) and can be built in a stax naya way. Is pretty fun!
Stax and fun do not belong together in any way shape or form
Stay for the WIN
But they do go infinite...
One triggers than the other triggers than the other triggers on that while that one triggered from the first trigger it's infinite
@@Cantthinkofname-rp3iw not for you. But for me it does as well as for my playgroup
I actually just had a player really make it work in a game in Minneapolis
Make it 4
Battle Angels of Tyr gonna be on another episode in the future.
4/4 Flying body for 4 is a good return on a french vanilla creature, then this one clocks the whole table in one card slot, pretty solid beats, and then it adds value on top of that, it's a banger. Not a cedh staple or anything, but it's an amazing card lol
Oh man Shalai and Hallar was my favorite commander in the set
I’m glad you liked it! Would love to see a list if you have one.
@@Wojtek36762 My exact thoughts word for word
Anyone else notice they forgot the Moxfield ad 😂😂
So Battle Angels is actually stupid good. Each token copy also has it's ability so if they all connect (They're flyers so hopefully) unless you have the most card in hand, most lands and most life, you're going to get something off of it. If you're at the bottom of the pile, and everyone else is ahead, this card excels. If not, it's still 12 power for 2WW.
Smugglers Share is a very good card imo (still too expansive money wise), but for 3 mana it ll draw you some cards, sometimes makes you treasures; and enchantments arent easy to get rid of !
That is completely fair. It didn’t pull its wait when I played it but I feel like the pod can make a big difference
I play it in Esper wheels ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe in an enchantress deck where your play group loves drawing a ton of cards, this is probably pretty sweet, otherwise, it’s not amazing (I just got a got a copy and am trying to test it to see if it makes my cut).
I find this card works to it's fullest potential if the monarchy is in play, not only does that then send people's attention elsewhere you are guaranteed to draw on each players turn as long as you aren't the monarch
@@sampotter7991 sadly smugglers share doesn’t work with the monarchy as it is an endstep trigger
“When it’s not doing those things, it’s doing nothing.”
No, Joe, incorrect. You see, there are raccoons in the art. Little raccoon criminals, no less. That’s all the reason needed.
hmmm, you make a compelling argument

Tear asunder kills Purphoros for 4 in GB so if he’s showing up in your local meta a lot, it can be worth it.
Dismember rocks for this purpose tho. Can’t do much better than -5/-5 for 1 and 4 life.
I missed out on the hype on Deep Gnome Terramancer and Smuggler's Horde. I've been building a mono white deck and looking at popular white cards and both those cards keep coming up. Every time I read them, my reaction is that they just aren't good.
I guess this is in response to the Reddit post
I pretty much said in that post exactly what you guys say at the end, sometimes I think you’re wrong, sometimes you’re right
This is a complex game with thousands of cards, nobody ever gets it right all the time
The main thing is you guys put the work in to tell us your opinion and that’s appreciated by me, I love what you guys do, don’t change!
Agreed, although Reality Chip is still a D lol
Some of the Swords are "weaker" then others but they are not D tier. They always protect you from 2 colours and as long as you connect(which should be 98% of the time with the right sword) just once you have gotten your 5 manas worth. Theres a big reason why people will remove a sword ASAP is because they give you so much benefit if they stick around. being able to untap with Feast and famine just once can put you so far ahead of the game. I personally like putting them on a doublestrike creature :)
With battle angels of Tyr sure it has the potential to wiff but its great in Giada since the token copies get +1 counters when they enter.
I initially didn't understand the hype for smugglers share (cute art?)
Having played with it, my opinion is it can have a very low floor or a very high ceiling.
Jadar is awesome in so many decks. Not just zombies
2 Mana permanent that gets a single measly token per turn ROTATION? Hmm.. seems like we have a few of those already. And all of them are just... ok.
A free token every turn that people dont really like blocking is a banger. Free death, etb, sacrifice triggers, free token etc. I use it a Wildon/Cultist deck
@@bobfranklin2572 so you agree its just ok, I see.
Budget Ophiomancer
@@frankmagyar5532 Ophiomancer produces a token every turn (if u sacc the token ). jadar does it only per turn cycle.
Still got shalai and Hillary wrong. Its a fine card that goes infinite with 2 other cards. Sorry it goes infinite with so much more than 2.
Rest is just gravy
Battle Angel is a superb upgrade for the new Knight precon hence the spike. Still a 4 mana "12 power" creature even it does nothing else.
Jadar is still a good enough budget Replacement for Bitterblossom and getting more sac fodder in deck that care about it
Tear Asunder is an "exile" effect for 2 for 2 of the best type of card in commander Artifact and Enchantments.
It’s playable for sure. I just think swords are in the weak end in commander
Since they finished the sword of cycle I want then to make a shield of stuff and things that activate their ability when the creature blocks
Also I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I loathe blood tokens. They feel so clunky and slow and inefficient
But but blood’
@@NitpickingNerds good point, BLOOD!
@@NitpickingNerds Nerds, video idea = SWORD TIER LIST
2:02
Holy Shit, The Nitpicking Nerds have been COMPLEATED! They said the thing at the exact same time!
All hope is lost for MTG UA-cam, they're already all sleeper agents.
Put some respect on smuggler's share, give it a try in monarch deck, it's amazing
Sword of X and Y need to go into decks that can reliably have unblockable creatures: for example I have a Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith deck and it loves them
Also consider that the swords come with built-in unblockable on at least one player often times
I don't think swords are powerful in many decks but in the ones they go in they're pretty good
No hate, just my opinion 😊
they got another thing wrong and it was saying "all will be one". because "all will be one" doesn't go infinite with "shalai and hallar". i think they meant to say "heliod, sun crowned". "all will be one" works in a similar way to "shalai and hallar", but "all will be one" goes infinite with "the red terror", "quest for pure flame", and any way to put counters on anything in an infinite way like "devoted druid" + "swift reconfiguration"
4 mana 4/4 flier with massive potential upside is bad???
I value seeing someone else's opinion on the whole, but I've rarely outright agreed with these guys.
And Myriad
It depends what you compare it to. It's a decent threat, but far from amazing
@@baconsir1159 yep.. so in commander its basically a 12/12 with upside when you attack.

Endurance can also save you from Mill. Not that often it's relevant, but when it is, it really shines.
So shoutout to you guys for that
Thank you for the kind words friend
Sword of Heart & Home goes in my Rocco deck because that sounds like a sword you would see at a Cabaretti dinner
I play sword of hearth and home in my Urza, Chief Artificer deck. You're right it's not higher power. But I've cloned this with mechanized production arming my constructs with swords, blinking Urza, Lord High. It gave me so much mana and evasion. The other swords starting blinking etb removals.
Ledger Shredder was one of those cards i was wrong about to then realize it's one of my favorites cards. Cards are just hard to evaluate sometimes.
So beast within and assassins trophy take up your nonceeature spell based removal then you have cards like haywire mite and plague crafter that fill the rest in
Smuggler's Share is very good in a deck with Howling Mine, haha.
Tear Asunder performs equal to snuff out for me 🤷🏻
Tear asunder has been amazing in so many games, exile is massive.
Man, the one time I actually took a guess at when the Moxfield ad was going to be and I didn't notice it at all.
Battle Angels of Tyr spiked because it's a Knight, so we're stuffing it into our Sidar Jabari precons!
(if any trigger)
A nice card for a niche kind of deck, but still powerful.
I think yall forgot to add Grave Titan
What does that one do again?
Dauthi is an S. Best graveyard hate.
I recently built a deck that plays splinter twin with it, saccing the temp token for all those goodies at least once per cycle if not more from untap or more clone shenanigans.
Very minor nitpick but y’all are wrong on that Kamber fun fact. The PREVIEW image had a typo, the one and sole only printing of Kamber is correct
Oh cool thanks for the update
Battle Angels of Tyr is good in the sense that people will remove it just because of the wall of text in its effect.
All right here comes the apology for Grave Titan 😂
Not quite
10:01 Nullmage Advocate in the italian version, it allows YOU to return back two cards from your graveyard AND destroy an artifact or enchantment. It was busted as hell. Of course, the original english version states that it's your opponent to benefit from it
ugin the spirit dragon in german. his x ability says: destroy all colored permanents with mana cost greater than x.

I've loved Endurance since it released, because I've always thought of it as a huge win/win kind of card.
As a teacher of almost twenty years, can confirm: making mistakes (and owning them) makes you smarter (and more respectable, IMHO).
You heard it here first, we're smart!
The fact that you have to connect to trigger the sword means that hearth and home gets you 2 lands if you give the equipped creature double strike lol 😆
You could also flicker a wood elves or sad robot twice if you want 4 lands per attack haha 👌

All apologies, but I have to counter this one in particular:
On Faerie Mastermind:
Mono-White (W), Orzhov (WB), Selesnya (GW), Boros (RW), Naya (RGW), Mardu (WBR), Abzan (WBG), AND Dune-Brood players (BRGW): "...It's not in my commander's color identity."
Shalai and Halar also combo with Heliod, so 3 of the so called 1 card combos (since the other one is the commander) and green and white tutors make it reeeally easy to go infinite with that commander.
2:02 saying all will be one as one… that was so freaky especially the way they didn’t even seem to notice it

Shalai and Hallar… put Bone Sabres on them, maybe a counter doubler, youll win very fast. I’ve won twice already with the combo
But it doesn't go inf with All Will Be One. It's just a lttle redundancy for the commander. But The Red Terror goes infinite with All Will Be One

Except it'll prob get countered anyway by that Thoracle player lol
i run hearth and home in my elesh mom deck and it has never failed me. the ramp is okay but the flicker is great for any etb matters deck
Would you put sword of hearth and home in kardur doomscourge?
also to be fair for you guys this is the same reason why wizards is doing the wrong thing by over printing too many new cards. often it takes a long period of digestion to understand how a card works or functions relative to other cards. unless the card is just a strictly better version of another card in terms of stats and mana cost, it can be hard to evaluate how impactful all of the lines of text that wizards now puts on cards in an attempt to confuse players in order to motivate players to buy new cards/content to experiment with. to get cards wrong isn't a bad thing. it is part of the play experience/discovery which makes magic more enjoyable.
I like the gw sword in hans because of pro g since it helps him survive his own fight
