    I would say to disolve your fresh yeast in water first, that would be easier. I don't have an electronic mixer, so I did it by hand and I had a hard time getting rid of the small lumps. :) Otherwise, wonderful recipe! Thanks for sharing!

      Heavenly Fan the dry active yeast in my fridge turned out way too old to make this work. Will try again and report back. :)

    I'm going to try this recipe. I will say though, I have always made crumpets with water and yeast, not milk and yeast. They taste just as good and are less fattening. I can see why nut milk is good though because its a source of protein.

    Hi,
    I love you’re videos and I wanted to check this one out as I love crumpets but it does not work to watch it 🥺
    It worked now. I will try to make them by myself. Thanks

    You're adorable. Love your music, your kitchen aid machine and the wine suggestion. Great recipe. I don't have the egg ring things but my batter is thick enough to just plop it in the pan. I got 4 really nice big crumpets from this recipe and it was fabulous. I wonder if Apple cider vinegar in the milk will give it a sour dough flavor ?

    Thank you! If you like the taste of Twiglets, you can recreate that with your crumpets .Put them under the grill, fully toast the underside & half toast the tops then marge & thinly spread yeast extract, (like Natex or Marmite or supermarket equivalent) on top. Put them back under the grill, watching carefully. Leave until the top bubbles & goes a bit darker, then remove. Voilà they taste like Twiglets!

    hi, thanks for the recipe! i made the crumpets today and they taste regally delicious...but they don't look like crumpets at all😢. they look more like really high pancakes and the cute little bubbles are also missing. i would dissolve the yeast in luke warm soy milk with a pinch of sugar next time because aging the yeast to the flour does not work very well. my dough was like a higher bubble gum and very sticky☹️. Next time i will do it different from your suggestion and add the yeast to the milk first 🙂👍. but the taste was really good though.!

    Do you have to use an egg ring for the cooking/pan frying process? I don’t have any at home.

    • @HeavenlyFan
      @HeavenlyFan  5 років тому +2

      Hi Frances, you can fold tin foil into 2-3cm height strips and form them into rings if it make sense? Remember to grease the inside of the rings. They should work just fine.

    Thank you for this video very helpful. The crumpet mix i tried earlier was far too salty, but this one looks much better!
    Just so you know, Almonds are not vegan. The almond crop in the US is the largest killer of commercial bees in the world. Bees are used to pollinate the flower, but as the pollination period is very short and intensive the beekeepers do not allow the bees to make honey with it, instead the beekeepers feed the bees with sugar syrup to ensure the bees only spend their time pollinating, which fatigues the bee and massively reducing the bee population in each hive.
    The almond crop is the most commercially pollinated crop in the USA with approximately 95% of all commercial beekeepers being involved with pollination, and has been cited in multiple studies as a reason for the colony collapse disorder issue that has been affecting bees since around 2006 .
    This recipe should still work fine with one of the many other non-animal milks though!

    • @HeavenlyFan
      @HeavenlyFan  5 років тому +1

      Hi Adam, thank you for the info on almonds. It only shows that there's so much to consider. Yes you can swap almond milk to any other nut milk, it will work the same.

    Can you use nut flour instead of white flower?

    • @HeavenlyFan
      @HeavenlyFan  6 років тому +1

      I personally never tried it with this recipe so I can’t say, but as nut flour does not contain gluten the texture would probably be a lot denser. Let me know how it works out. 👍🏻

      Same with all breads, refrigerating won't stop the bread going stale, freezing will.

      I did not know if 'vegan' meant "eats only vegetables" or "eats things that are NOT animals",
      or what - though I'm sure the definition varies by individual
      if what you're using the yeast for - as in the case of this recipe - is carbon dioxide bubbles,
      would you personally find the use of chemicals [pearl ash, potassium carbonate, &c.] preferable?
      what about mechanical forms of leavening? is there a 'nutritional' aspect of eating yeast that
      you're trying to get? is it possible to make a crumpet without yeast, and still get the kind of
      consistency that would be recognizable as a crumpet?

    • @HeavenlyFan
      @HeavenlyFan  6 років тому +1

      Hi Elias, for me being vegan is an intention. It’s a direction you’re heading and not necessarily a destination. You’re quite right in saying that the definition varies as it’s defined by individual. And so it should be since it is your own relationship with the world. There’s no bible. I don’t know if there’s a better alternative to yeast, but as I’m comfortable using yeast today it’s not an issue. But if it ever changes I’d look for substitutes. That's my own personal approach. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching x
