As someone that particularly likes to play duellists, I have to say respect to the people who play controllers. They have the most boring role of just giving their team an advantage over site but are a really important role in the team. I feel everybody wants to get into the action of playing duellists these days so those few that don’t, specifically controllers, have my full respect.
I usually play sentinel (or controller) and rarely play duelist. I only pick duelist (Neon) if there's no duelist in the team. I am always tense with playing duelist because as attackers you need to guide your team inside a site lol so I enjoy being a watcher or as a support for a great duelist. Also it's so satisfying to kill an enemy with setups or lineups for clutching XD
@@caramelsimon7472 I have to say tho, cypher is an incredibly fun agent to use when experimenting with different set ups and the sheer amount of frags you get when the enemies decide to push your site is amazing, and when I used to play cypher I regularly found myself fragging higher than duellists on the team, though that is why I switched to playing duellists most of the time I didn’t always have the power to carry my team as a sentinal.
I used to main skye/raze when I first started, then I started filling astra and realised how much I love her play style. I mained her (and viper on breeze/icebox) and got from bronze 1 to diamond 2, albeit my aim not improving much. Valorant is my first fps game so my aim isn't that good, and maining astra means if i pop off, i POP OFF. If i have a bad game, it's fine because i can still help the team :)
Was a raze main for years, I would usually get 20+ kills and always had a ton of util damage but I couldn’t seem to climb out of gold. I thought about what other agent I could use to have util damage, decided to try brimstone, who I had barely ever played before, whenever I was forced to flex controller I would always pick viper. Within a week of maining brim, I have climbed from gold 1 to plat 3, and I haven’t gone on more than a 2 game loss streak in the dozens of games I’ve played in that time. Mains are so important
Feel happy for you as a fellow Brim main. Would you mind sharing anything new you learned while playing him? My win rate on him is 60% this act on 43/179 matches despite an overall 45% win rate. Should I start one tricking him? Hit plat for one game earlier this month but now I’m back to being hardstuck g3.
@@freshspringroll1610 I’ve began mostly one tricking him, usually I would say one tricking is bad, but considering controller is usually the agent class nobody wants to play and even double controller comps are good, one tricking controllers is actually not a bad idea. Most important thing I learned on the climb is when u want to play for lineups, u typically either don’t want to plant the spike yourself, or if u do u wanna make sure u have a competent team with decent to good duelists entrying for u. Help them by smoking, stimming, trading, etc. but usually u want to duo with a teammate who already knows where ur lineups go, and have them plant the spike, while u sit back and watch for flanks or maybe play long range angle with op. I have been duoing with a buddy of mine who’s a cypher main, we have both climbed to diamond since we started duoing bc we can both lurk or clear sites together and trade each other if one of us dies. It’s pretty effective. Also work on gamesense especially, as a brim main u don’t need to have the best aim on ur team, u just need to be able to have effective rotates and good clutches, all of which rely on gamesense. U got this!
Sova lineups are harder to learn though sadly, since it's not a stand here and click 1 button, it's the times of bounces and how much you charge them which stops me from ever wanting to learn them
Very not true. Sentinels are agents who have utilities that can stop a push fast with immediate effect like killjoy alarm bot+nano or sage wall+ slow or deadlock’s barrier mesh+gravenet. These abilities combined can stall a push for a considerable amount of time, enough for teammates to rotate. Sova shock darts only creat 1-2 seconds impact and his ult is more for picking out one individual enemy champ, nobody uses it to stop a push. Also a sentinel role is a lot of time to watch flank and lurk using utilities, which are the things Sova is furthest from.
As a omen main, playing controller is a best way to dodge from playing other role for like duelist (role i most hate) bcs everytime i had to play duelist..my team would leave me just after i open site and died if i dont get any kills (common scenario on gold lobby 😑)
duelist in lower ranked lobbys are just used as bait, unless you are a smurf there is no point in going duelist. Cause the low ranked people dont know how to play duelist so there is not point in trying to support them while entering site either, they rarely use their kit like jetts dash is so good but the only thing people know how to do is to move forward and not right left or backword wit it, same goes for raze
I found my playstyle leaning more toward sentinel since I'm not that aggressive, so I usually pick Cypher cuz among all sentinel personally he is the easiest to use for me
@@armyozonetotally got that. I was scared too. But did play with my friends and at the End i ended up in Iron 3… i started playing Valorant like 2 weeks ago 😂 at the End its a game to have fun with competition
chamber's entire kit is built to watch flank, site, bomb or an entrance. I think we need another category of sentinel which is like true sentinel in which case i dont see cypher fitting into because his ability to slow/stall a push is no better than a chamber trip who can smoke. Except chamber literally has a defender favoured kit to support his free op (his tp). With good mechanics, free sheriff too.
Cypher is literally THE definition of sentinel my man. Chamber trip does not mark the player, it doesn't show the player, it doesn't stun the player nor do damage to the player, how are you comparing Chamber with Cypher in terms of sentinel potential, Cypher can lockdown a site completely with his trips, he can safely get frags with smokes, he can literally have visual of a whole site without being there so he can basically be at two places at once and he can efficiently stall a push till his teammates arrive. Chamber trip is easy to spot and very loud which often makes it just a downgraded alarm bot, and Chamber literally fully relies on the mechanical skill of the player to be good.

I would say fade is also a hybrid agent Her dog and her ball are very good at getting frags when you know there is an enemy in a corner Since the dog gives a nearsight and her ball locks them there and gives them decay Whilst her tentacle monster(e) and her ult are mainly for info and iniating a push since her e is purely for info cant and her ult gives a deafen and decay I am a fade main and I usually throw my e and get info and then start playing more like a duelist and if I know there are 2+ enemies on site and I have ult I usually do that
Yeah, I agree. Her prowlers are great at getting people out of corners and seize is good to demolish health and sometimes locate people at the same time. I love using seize when I know there’s like three people in the same corner. And her Ult is extremely powerful to initiate a push but also to hold one off, as it will deafen the opposite team and yours can therefore come from behind without being noticed, and then most of the opposite team is almost one shot.

Flash A main then neon walls from A main onto site, from there yoru can put a gatecrash on site and he can choose to go heaven or stay near A main, while neon can creep her way up to heaven from behind after planting the spike. When you where talking about the three kinds of initiators I was a bit shocked not to see sky in hybrid. She has even better info gathering skills then gekko in my opinion.
I'm playing Valorant for not even a week now and this video helped me a lot! I usually play Raze because I like throwing bombs trough windows or use her rover to shoo the enemy out of corners, but one thing I realized is that I prefer to fall back and lurk at the flank to make sure my team doesn't get ambushed from behind. Someone I met in a game yesterday said I play much more like a sentinel and at that point I didn't really understand what he meant because Valorant is my first shooter and I'm not so familiar with the lingo yet. Now that I watched this vid I think that guy was right and maybe sentinel is a way better choice for me. That also explains why I get flamed a lot for lurking when I play Raze (but I get flamed a lot in general because I made the mistake of not being a pro at a game I literally just started lol)
I judt started playing and brimstone or controllers in general is a good start because i get to learn simple good smokes. Brim also has a pretty decent ult imo.
This video really helped I primarily main Cypher but I also enjoy playing Yoru Phoenix And Omen I was a little confused if I was being stupid by having multiple agent options
Im so happy to have found the perfect agent because I know that can actually be really hard. But Omen fits my playstyle to the tea. I could go into detail but lets be real no one is reading that. Seriously though, yall, I know duelists are fun but half the players I see playing them are not nearly agressive enough or only play for frags and not for the team, try a different role now and then you might be surprised.
I just like playing whatever isn't contested, so basically: 1. Chyper 2. Sage 3. Harbor in any match, I'm guaranteed at least of these guys is available and needed. and in those extremely rare situations in which we somehow need a duelist, I just pop Yoru or Iso
Although i cant play this game till a Console release but my mains will be 1 gekko: i love summoners i love lizards 2 killjoy: i love turrets and drones These are my 2 fav characters
Yo thanks, I learned a lot about the game and I found out I’m playing duelist and struggling, because I’m bad at facing enemies head on, but I found that I am very perceptive, so playing a support role like sage would allow me not to die instantly but still be able to help the team.
@@athaynha Nah most of the time I can't pick Dualist because people instalock them all the time forcing me to play other chars I do not enjoy. The worst part is, no matter the role i play I always end up being the first to entry a site because people are scared of dying in a game :')
@@Simp4Ahsoka. play omen, chamber or kay/o, you can get as aggressive with them as you would with a duelist i say that as an omen main who has a friend that mains chamber :D
I've always wanted to play viper but her insane amount of lineups (lets face it, her entire kit is a lineup kit) has amde it hard for me to adjust to the role. however i have found success with Chamber, its just that im not always in a mood to be kaid back. I like to play on the offense.
as an astra main my self i prefer to use it as a dulist instead of a normal behind the scens controller but if i need to back off i can and still maintain agreseveness
I'm a reyna main, but i can be useful with my flashes cause i know how to cover angles with them, also i'm careful when i use my ultimate ability, cause unlike jett, i can't activate my ultimate ability to take only one person on one site knowing that the whole other team is all the way to the other side (For those who don't know, jett's ultimate ability can last the whole round, but reyna's ultimate ability can last as long as she makes kills)
The problem with controller is that you need to do big brain plays for a very pityful reward, getting one kill for that effort is not worthy. Meanwhile characters like jett or neon can do an ace with a single ult if you know how to play them
My style is to get oneshotted, lose 80% of my gun fights because i can't hit while moving, get 90% slowered in case i want to flee, lose a gun fight even if i started shooting FIRST and any power used so far seems to be useless (never got a ultimate ONCE in 4 days). There's no class that can help me there.
when i just got this game i thought every hero was the same just with different looking grenades, smokes and ultimate. Had no idea each hero had a role or specific goal. Thought it was cosmetic to a degree.
Im playing almost every agent, but all just on an acceptable level. There are just a few im good at. Hurts my rank but is much more fun in my opinion, playing the same agent over and over feels so boring
I’m wanting to be able to know where people are, have the upper hand in fighting and be able to Control how things happen. I really don’t know who to play
This was helpful because as of watching this I am maining Raze but my problem is I like her kit but get too many assists and that isn't healthy for a duelist. 💀

7:42 i love playing brim though on some maps he’s actually really fun and you can’t be toxic to him
Always take into account the Reyna player. Either they will win you the match or they will cost you the match.
This video really helped I primarily main Cypher but I also enjoy playing Yoru Phoenix And Omen
I was a little confused if I was being stupid by having multiple agent options
Im so happy to have found the perfect agent because I know that can actually be really hard. But Omen fits my playstyle to the tea. I could go into detail but lets be real no one is reading that.
Seriously though, yall, I know duelists are fun but half the players I see playing them are not nearly agressive enough or only play for frags and not for the team, try a different role now and then you might be surprised.
Please get into detail. 😊
I just like playing whatever isn't contested, so basically:
1. Chyper
2. Sage
3. Harbor
in any match, I'm guaranteed at least of these guys is available and needed.
and in those extremely rare situations in which we somehow need a duelist, I just pop Yoru or Iso
Although i cant play this game till a
Console release but my mains will be
1 gekko: i love summoners i love lizards
2 killjoy: i love turrets and drones
These are my 2 fav characters
thank you, this really helps!
i can use almost any agent i don't see it's weakness i only see where i can use it and take advantage of it
I honestly enjoy playing harbor. Having 1 util that can block multiple lines of sight is very enticing to me
I actually really enjoy playing sentinels and controllers, recently added initiators but i still can’t with duelist
i chose KAY/O cause he looked cool. im now sticking with him through thick and thin. i am hard stuck iron.
Ive literally gone through tens of clips of my gameplay and reviewed my playstyle breach definitely fits it
Yo thanks, I learned a lot about the game and I found out I’m playing duelist and struggling, because I’m bad at facing enemies head on, but I found that I am very perceptive, so playing a support role like sage would allow me not to die instantly but still be able to help the team.
Thanks for the advice Brim 😊
Tbf Skye can be an info/flash initiator
My preferred agent would be Phoenix, but I am ALWAYS forced to play something else because people ALWAYS freaking insta-lock dualists.
+
just mute'em
@@athaynha How does muting someone help with the agent picking...
@@Simp4Ahsoka. oh sorry i though people were freaking out at you for picking a duelist lol
@@athaynha Nah most of the time I can't pick Dualist because people instalock them all the time forcing me to play other chars I do not enjoy. The worst part is, no matter the role i play I always end up being the first to entry a site because people are scared of dying in a game :')
@@Simp4Ahsoka. play omen, chamber or kay/o, you can get as aggressive with them as you would with a duelist
i say that as an omen main who has a friend that mains chamber :D
Great beginner guide! Time to take my antideps and queue up!!
Dualist: complete beast
Initiator: normal player
Controller: too lazy to play
Sentinel: have a cup of coffee and look flanks
I've always wanted to play viper but her insane amount of lineups (lets face it, her entire kit is a lineup kit) has amde it hard for me to adjust to the role.
however i have found success with Chamber, its just that im not always in a mood to be kaid back. I like to play on the offense.
as an astra main my self i prefer to use it as a dulist instead of a normal behind the scens controller but if i need to back off i can and still maintain agreseveness
I usually main Kay/O, but if no-one plays smoke, omen is pretty fun agent to play as well
0:19 smooth?
I'm a reyna main, but i can be useful with my flashes cause i know how to cover angles with them, also i'm careful when i use my ultimate ability, cause unlike jett, i can't activate my ultimate ability to take only one person on one site knowing that the whole other team is all the way to the other side
(For those who don't know, jett's ultimate ability can last the whole round, but reyna's ultimate ability can last as long as she makes kills)
a very good and informative video! Very, very well structured!!!!!!
havent watched yet but currently(just started playing) a kj(sentinel) main, lets see if this changes me
Should i main raze or jett
Thx for this amazing video ❤
The problem with controller is that you need to do big brain plays for a very pityful reward, getting one kill for that effort is not worthy. Meanwhile characters like jett or neon can do an ace with a single ult if you know how to play them
Wait no one's talking about the transition from the start from reyna to chamber?
As a omen main since beta I see this as a absolute win
Lowkey a couple times I was more aggressive then the duelist as sage because we where down so I felt like I needed to step up
Omen mains have great mobility and plays at the right time, I'm a gekko and omen main
go with whatever you arent good at bc everyone has to go through the "are you dumb" phase and that's a canon event.
Greatest sentinel combo is cypher trip and kj Molly get stunned then swarmed
Me watching this video knowing damn well I play Yoru only and don't care about other characters:
Omen ult and shotty is insane, ive gotten many aces with it
i play raze like an initiator and controller, which is especially bad for me considering that ive been meaning to pick up deadlock.
I dirbt find my main, but some times dont even bother if anyone says if an agent is bad or good, if you like it thats great.
I'm stuck in mythical honor, I just wanna hit glory but my results look like this:
Win,lose,win,lose,win,lose etc.
This hole channel is an add for skillcapped
this really helped gamesense-wise i gotta say
Skye is the biggest Hybrid Iniator in the entire game
when i just got this game i thought every hero was the same just with different looking grenades, smokes and ultimate. Had no idea each hero had a role or specific goal. Thought it was cosmetic to a degree.
I'm a simple man. I'm french, so I play Chamber. I like his kit, a free operator, teleportation and simple class.
Im playing almost every agent, but all just on an acceptable level. There are just a few im good at. Hurts my rank but is much more fun in my opinion, playing the same agent over and over feels so boring
I main sova phoenix sentinels or if needed omen
I love omen, its just too fun xd. Smoke tp in smoke, blind out of it kill and tp again
My friend is a cypher main, mf is so good that the enemy always gives up on the site he holds
choosing a main because of abilities :/
choosing a main because of the design :D
7:40 im omen and 12:16 cypher main
I’m wanting to be able to know where people are, have the upper hand in fighting and be able to Control how things happen. I really don’t know who to play
I have 6 main’s brimstone, deadlock, breach, gekko, iso, yoru
This video really helped me thx made a notebook for this video😂😂
I'm curious how that rank up guarantee works for people who have jobs/families and can't play a ton of ranked?
As a new player i am using neon
Previously i player 1-1.5 yrs ago but for some reason i ahve to leave it for some time and now koined again
This was helpful because as of watching this I am maining Raze but my problem is I like her kit but get too many assists and that isn't healthy for a duelist. 💀
I main sage cause these people need babysitting ❤
