I never could understand why, having realised they had materialised halfway up a mountain, the Doctor didn’t just take off again instead of exiting the TARDIS.
The TARDIS is actually quite old, a Type 40. In the Doctor Who Role Playing Game the current TARDIS model was a Type 760 with some 720 models having succeeded after the Doctor's Type 40. She really is ancient.
Damn! That was so wild I wanna watch the whole adventure! Love the storm-lashed mountain and that gothic castle. Seeing the Tardis plummet off that ledge was a hoot! I miss all the crazy cliffhangers and gonzo effects from the classic series ...It's charms are still potent, even after all these years :)
Michael Gallagher The last one is really true since the TARDIS is by design infinitely configurable to atomic level, so if it actually fell with it's actual weight then it would either be heavy enough for the earth the crash into it or light enough for it to float down like a hydrogen balloon.
All of a sudden I'm just imagining the TARDIS causing all its console instrumentation to beep in a sequence that gets translated to "SHIT FUCK I'M FALLING GOD DAMN IT THIEF"
My headcanon is that Yates hadn't figured out his sexuality yet. Even if he had, he couldn't act on it. That was not a good time to be anything other than cisgender and heterosexual, so a lot of LGBTQ people either stayed in the closet, or were confused about who and what they were. Everything they saw, heard, and read told them 'Boy + girl = normal' and that they should all want to marry someone of the other sex and make babies. So there he was, wanting to date Jo, likely enjoying spending time with her (and definitely liking the envious looks from the other officers), but never able to get beyond kissing and hugging even in his fantasies. Instead, he had intrusive thoughts about the Brigadier that went way beyond a man-crush. (My headcanon, again.) The showrunners had planned a romance for Jo and Mike, but never developed it.
This is the Doctor. The plots break down in three ways -- Doctor to companion(s): "Don't do the things." Companion(s) do the things. Mayhem ensues. Companion(s) to Doctor: "Don't do the things." Doctor does the things. Mayhem ensues. Doctor and companions: "Let's do the things!" Complete chaos.
This was the 1st time that the TARDIS landed on a cliff and fell since the 4-part story The Romans in which the Doctor had Ian Chesterton,Barbara Wright & Vicki with him,but they didn‘t have time to get out after the TARDIS was wobbling.

"We're on a mountain, the TARDIS is indestructible" *Leaves TARDIS onto mountain ledge* "Oh no, TARDIS is down there now, we've got to get inside it" "Okay, why did we even get outside it?"
It was the Timelords who directed the Tardis to Peladon, no matter what the Doctor might think. He only got his freedom back the year after this was broadcast. So blame them - the interstellar Ryan Air!
@@imakevideossometimes9144 Didn't notice your moniker at first. But you are correct in your assertion that the TARDIS set sure has seen some changes throughout the 1970s. I didn't take to the others after the wooden panelled one (second control room) in Season 14.
"There you are Jo, a perfect landing."
Title: The TARDIS falls off a cliff.
Well played.
Does that mean this qualifies as a cliffhanger or more of a clifffaller?
These model shots are always my favorite
I think you'll find they simply sent a team up a nearby peak to film the TARDIS materializing.
I never could understand why, having realised they had materialised halfway up a mountain, the Doctor didn’t just take off again instead of exiting the TARDIS.
Plot reasons.
Cos he's a chad
Anything to get in the way of Jo's date with Mike Yates? 🤔😄
In the Chase the doctor claims that the TARDIS takes 12 minutes to let the Engine recharge and have the Directional computers Reorientate
@@LoriCiani She's barking up the wrong tree 😂
I love that they didn't have a TARDIS set anymore at this point and were using printouts for the set XD
After this opening it would be impossible not to keep on watching.

1:16 Looks like they ran out of backdrop, better make a photocopy....
That photocopy dates back to the Hartnell era!
Handman they had budget for second doctor tho

The definition of any landing you can walk away from being a good one. But at least it didn't land/crash/fall with its true weight. :)
Michael Gallagher

Love that miniature TARDIS model .
Definitely one of the best classic episodes.
*Has flashbacks about The Romans*
ikr
Me to
Got to love those stock lightning sound effects.
Next time: The Doctor meets Doctor....Frankenfurter. :-)
Since the TARDIS is alive, I imagine it just kept slurring as it kept falling down.
All of a sudden I'm just imagining the TARDIS causing all its console instrumentation to beep in a sequence that gets translated to "SHIT FUCK I'M FALLING GOD DAMN IT THIEF"
Ouch, Ow, umph, ooph, oh, aargh.
@@filthycasual8187- Didn't help that the TARDIS had been messed with by the Time Lords. That's got to mess up the landings.
After a fall like that they may have to re-paint the beige round things.
Roundels.
I love the round things 😊
3 unintentionally cockblocked Yates.
12 intentionally interfered with Clara's love life and she never called him on it.
In defense of the Twelfth Doctor, Danny Pink is a nuisance crap.
Only because the relationship was badly written. It started cute and got derailed.
"Cockblocked Yates." Um... We have something to tell you...

Sadly, that fall voided the warranty on the Tardis.
Insert falling object sound here
Yeah, see’s damaged part of Tardis that still could be active...
Pulls out
Hartnells Doctor did this once too
Now, about that extended TARDIS warranty....
The console room seems to of shrunk since the Three Doctors! Seriously though love the two Peladon stories.
The Tardis falling down the mountain reminded me of Homer Simpson falling down Springfield Gorge lol.
Whilst Jo nipped off to Peladon Mike went for a date with another man.

2:25 and thats how tardis toys were born
The Curse of Pelaton
Indestructible yet he wanted no one inside?
steelbarber So you can slam into the tardis wall at top speed?
ya.
Given the TARDIS's age? The Doctor probably didn't trust the inertial dampers to keep Jo from multiple broken bones.
The TARDIS is indestructible. The people inside it aren’t.
Cybermat47 - The people inside are in another dimension. It’d be safer to be in the TARDIS.
The TARDIS is lighter than I thought!😂
Why didn't he stay inside the bloody thing
Dunno.

Juliet Fischer ahhhhh.....Just the way we like it! Lol
Somewhere in the stories comes either 'Something's very wrong here. Let's poke it with a stick' or 'Do what I do: hold on and pretend it's a plan!'
Yes,i thought the same.

I remember that. I really loved the group of Doc1/Ian/Barbara/Vicki
One of the best stories. My top 10
Three dislikes. Each to their own and all that, but what's not to like? That was delightful!
All dislikes are from Mike Yates. He's still miffed about missing out on his date with Jo :)

Next time-Park and Ride.
NGL this episode made me feel like I was watching a doctor who parody of Star Trek
Something so cool 😎 about classic Doctor Who however do ❤ all Doctor Who 😀 😉
I wish I was the Doctor in that storm looking out into the night.
Jo was hot in this episode.
She really had a glow up after season 8
Jumping out of the TARDIS, rather than into it, is an... interesting choice.
He called it Indestructible. why didnt they just stay inside wouldnt the HADS make it take off
The doctor disabled it at some point
If its undestrutible why in The Mind Robber (Second Doctor story) the TARDIS EXPLOTE?
Because it was outside the universe.
Oh Thanks all right, Doctor ;)
TARDIS is indestructible ❤
at least the TARDIS is undestroyable as they look down on the TARDIS smashed to bits.Ah!but this is Doctor Who and the third Doctor.Jo I don't know about yey
Almost undestroyable as there are ways to destory a TARDIS
"We're on a mountain, the TARDIS is indestructible"
*Leaves TARDIS onto mountain ledge*
"Oh no, TARDIS is down there now, we've got to get inside it"
"Okay, why did we even get outside it?"
Jo: "I'm gonna be late"
The Tardis's ability to travel through time: "Am I A Joke To You?"
Yep, the only question is do you age in the Tardis?
Or they could of just stayed in and retaken off again quickly.😀.Great scene love the Curse Of Peladon.
39th century Peladon
Not the first time it happens actually.
Still, he's a really bad pilot
The running gag of the show was the TARDIS is old and wonky. TARDIS is also a bitey madwoman who takes him where he's needed.
It was the Timelords who directed the Tardis to Peladon, no matter what the Doctor might think. He only got his freedom back the year after this was broadcast. So blame them - the interstellar Ryan Air!
Why are the roundels around the doors white.
More to the point why are the others brown. The Death to the Daleks TARDIS interior was the best of the 1970s era.
