Why is Jesus called Immanuel?

- Names in the Bible are symbolic and bring meaning to enhance our understanding. Immanuel, “God is with us,” tells us that God will deliver in a unique and powerful way. He is with us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

I would prefer to call our savior "Immanuel" because this is the name "The Father" told the prophet Isaiah he would be called also, in Matt 1:23 referenced this by Isaiah. What the Father says takes precedence over everyone else. "Immanuel" is his true name!!

You can call him Tom, Dick or Harry if you like....BUT GOD GAVE STRICT INSTRUCTIONS TO MARY TO NAME HIM JESUS!! You do not fully understand Isaiah, he did not MEAN for the soon to be coming Messiah to be named Immanuel. Was Gabriel a liar when he told Mary to name the son to be born to her JESUS, and he would be the son of the most high. WAS He lying. According to you Gabriel was an angel from God was lower on God's ladder of authority than the angel sent directly to Mary.

i was a trinitarian but am becoming more and more convinced about biblical unitarianism can someone help me with John20 v 28 where Thomas says " My Lord and my God"
My Lord being Jesus in front of him... And My God.. God being with Jesus ...remember God was with Jesus ..Thomas knows that Jesus is giving all Glory to his God.. the most high God

You are so right. We need people such this theologically educated man, and now thru the Internet we can come to some Biblical truths that the churches have keep swept under the pews. Most churches and pastors are not being straight with the laity - they are self-serving and have an agenda. There NEEDS to be more honesty from the pulpits and Bible study teachers, but actually many of them are inept.

I understand you doubt, but be assured there are many unitarian scholars here on UA-cam who can clearly explain this perplexing verse to you. I promise. They can untangle so many of the erroneous doctrines you have been taught - AND MAKE SENSE. You then can dispose of all the fale Trinitatian baggage and "well it's a mystery!" REALLY? How has that worked for you??

Immanuel is the son of God born to mary as it is written my lord God I still referred to Immanuel Jesus son of God amen thank you for this teaching
