Small groups of men can prove deadlier than an entire battalion. The SAS proves that. There is a reason they were selected as 'the best of the best'. Well done, mates.
The SAS are a elite fighting regiment no doubt about that and they are the standard of what all SF units are derived from true. I'm truly sick of the "Who is Better" debates. Funny thing is you keyboard assassins actually compare the two more then the actual operators. There's a mutual respect that we all share for one another. As a American and veteran the UK are our allies who share the same battlefield as we do. To be honest it's doesn't matter who's best because trust me as the enemy you wouldn't want to be in any SF operators crosshairs no matter what country he's from. It's amazing how a ton of kids and couch commandos who've never and probably never will serve a day in the arm forces debate about things they know nothing about. Shut up and be glad that on either side you have elite Warriors laying it on the line so you can have the freedom to sound dumb on the internet...Sincerely SSGT. (Retired) USMC
it's down to tactics that makes the difference between UK infantry and US.. the UK will sit back get a brew on the go while deciding the best plan of attack.. I witnessed US troops being minions "hey didle fidle straight down the middle" how ever.. NO PLAN SURVIVES CONTACT!
Ignore trolls trying to trigger. You're right, most who think they know something know nothing. I've had cousins serve in the SAS and my uncle Vernon joined them in North Africa. Served right through to Yugoslavia and then served in Korea. Comparing the SF of different countries is stupid because nations have different geography; different commitments and different levels of training and skill sets even within the same army/airforce/navy. A good example, for anyone who doesn't know, is the Danish navies Sirius Dog Sled Patrol. Seriously impressed with these guys and deserve a mention. The mental challenge and isolation with just you and your buddy for months on end apart from the physical challenges and self dependency. Respect to all elite and SF who go into harms way so the rest of us don't have to.
These tactics are old as fuck, trust me. This is stuff from decades ago. The SAS are never publicised for what they do. The MoD doesn't comment on anything that the SAS, if it's operations, training, deaths. They are always improving, and keeping on top as the best Special Forces regiment in the world.
I was watching this and thinking exactly the same, nothing new here to anyone who has served in the Army. Possibly new to RAF as there isn't a hotel in sight!
+Dilios the Spartan its an old video but i would put money on the fact that these tactics are still the basics they use, theyve probably been expanded on a little bit too obviously with upgrades in weapons and technology but the simple stuff is what works the best...
As ex military, i appreciate all the details. SAS has learned from bitter combat experience, and taken good bits from what works in other Armies , ( including former enemies). 😉
I learned most of these things in the regular military, but it is obvious that the training, discipline and equipment of this and similar units is on a whole other level! It's interesting how an ordinary soldier is not dedicated to this details and how just a little bit of discipline and knowledge can significantly reduce the risks of getting killed or wounded in combat!
Yup he is a real hero, those child pornography allegations are against him are disgusting, zero evidence for it his daughter spoke and said he was almost computer illiterate. Someone with a bone to pick wants to sully this mans reputation, and he's not here to dispute it as he passed.
I think its a shame that the trolls put that vile shit On the comment's about John Mac,he is a soldier who deserves respect and honour for his service to his country, honestly I cannot believe people will stoop to that low level, may John Mac, his son and his wife rest in peace,@@MrBikboi
I recently read about the SAS in the Falklands War; they blew up every single Argentine aircraft at this airfield on a small island & wiped out, I don't know, 25% of the total Argentine air strength. Maybe not that much, but it was a serious loss for Argentina. It's exactly what their predecessors did in North Africa to, apparently, 100's of Axis aircraft.
Apparently the Argentina government caught wind that SAS were actually within the country and they more or less panicked and freaked out, then the SAS guys went to a neighbouring country and got a plane ride home
Raid on Pebble Island ... they ve attacked an small airfield .. planes for ground attack. Really important for the british landing at S.Carlos bay. So the only airfield operative was Port Stanley
The Airfield at Port Stanley was bombed by the Brits Vulcan bomber. Only one bomb actually hit the runway but it was enough damage to stop Argentine planes using it.. It was also the first and last time the Vulcan bomber was used in combat, although it was used throughout the cold war as a deterrent to the Russians (Long range nuclear bomber)
So sad to hear of Macks passing a few years back. The word hero gets passed about all to easily and all to often with out merit. However Mack was a real genuine hero, as are all the boys from the SAS who do more than the average man will ever know off!
Great video and I liked the fact that lots of emphasis was put on all the work before and after the sniper shot. Way too often snipers are potrayed as supermen just taking the shots from distance and going home when the reality is much more harsh.
You're my hero. People always seem to doubt our S.A.S, merely because they don't hear them in the news, because they don't need/want to be in the news. They protect us all the time. British and proud!
Back in the early 70’s I used to go to the pubs and dances in Hereford, all the bouncers were SAS, the local yobs hated them (losing every scrap had a lot to do with it).
Well it has been said that it has been proved so I can not awnser that question. They said it on another documentry about the SAS and I remember them saying that it is the best military force on the planet

The British Royal Marine Commando infants are most proffessional and elite navy in the world and undertake the hardest basic military training known to man. This training is 32 weeks long compared with the United States Marine Corps 13 weeks of training and is completed in the Marines Commando Training Centre Royal (CTCRM) to give an idea about the course training Resistance is a six mile (9.65 km) course across rough moorland and forest land in Woodbury Common near Lympstone, which includes tunnels, pipes, wading pools and a culvert under water. The course ends with a four miles (6 km) running CTCRM. Followed by a test of shooting, where the recruit must hit 6 out of 10 shots at a 25m target simulating 200 m. To be completed in 73 minutes (71 minutes for Royal Marine officers). Originally 72 minutes, these times were recently increased by one minute as the route of the course was altered this course has to be completed by recruits in full fighting order of 32 lb (14.5 kg) load carrying straps eg staff, equipment and L85A2. In this video the endurance course is being taken by me and my college mates looking to join the Royal Navy, along with two boys in Fiji, a boy and a boy Doncaster chard this is part of a course that is designed to show potential recruits what teaching is and what to expect when joining the body that did not have to carry any equipment as it is only done by recruits in stages of training. This was recorded on June 1, 2010 and was edited and uploaded by me "El Chapo" or you "PepperboyPARA". Steve Arthur +Simon Kveinå Thats correct. 13 weeks from civilian to rifleman. After that is specialisation for a few with specific attributes and according to manpower needs. The royal marines however are fully trained soldiers after 15 weeks BUT you cannot get the green beret until you pass the commando phase of the course Which takes up the remainder of the 32 weeks. after that its into a unit on general duties or specialisation training
Great video!! The SAS is extremely well trained and I suppose it takes a special kind of focus and attitude to do and endure the types of missions that they attempt. I will be watching the other episodes..........
These men are being broken down into pieces and they build themselves up. This is why SAS training course is the most hardest among all other special forces. Only with the right mentality and physical strength worthy called themselves SAS.
This is actual SASR operations so they've already earnt the title and have already been "broken down". The 27 day selection course breaks you down, the 18 months of training after that is just that, training.
to be honest, there was a research and its been shown that S.A.S has a longer history, with a better efficiency and a better mission completion percentage better then any known forces in the world.
the best snipers, the best in conventional groundbreaking warfare, infact British SAS forces conquer the republican assault division of saddam hussein, not Americans
I love how matter-of-fact these guys are when describing equipment and weapons. The anti-tank mine at 34:35 - "Along comes the vehicle, tank, APC etc. Goes over the top, boom, goodbye the boys."
I only know about John Mc and Brummie due to the fact I used to live in Hereford and I used to indirectly know both of them hence why I said that. I should've added 'RIP to all who've lost their lives', I am sorry if I have caused offence, that was not my intention, I should've thought before I commented. RIP to all whom have fallen and lest we forget x
Daniel Newby I am sorry to say but yes they have. I don't have a link but you might be able to find something in the Hereford Times but you'll have to google it as they sadly lost their lives (not whilst serving). RIP to all who've fallen, lest we forget. X
You make an excellent MovieMad007! As with most Western Special Forces, the physical aspects of the selection process WILL destroy them physically; it renders them near incapable of continuing 'forward'. Then, it all becomes wholly psychological. One's mind-set and utter determination will, for sure, even in the most extreme physical/psychological circumstance', permit the recruit carry on. Its all in the mind thereafter. Some members are basically brilliant at carrying loads, hence the Bergen.
SAS and SBS are the most highly trained and seasoned soldiers in the world and have served in virtually every theatre of war since WW2. US, German, Dutch and the Israeli special forces have been trained and advised by the SAS in the past. No other unit has shown the sheer guts, dedication, commitment and professionalism as these fellows. The Green Beret's and Navy Seals were originally and still are trained by the S.A S. S.A.S training is seen as the hardest most grueling training on earth.
Green Berets have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT mission: irregular and unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, etc. as I understand it, SAS is more of a direct action/small scale raids force.
The developers based the appearance of the "Captain Price" character from the COD series on John Mac (Moustache guy) in admiration for the professional manner in which his team of two SAS successfully defused a hostage situation which resulted in the sole death of the hostage taker. I am sure you can find footage of the rescue on youtube.. RIP John.
Good luck man! Ive tried for the royal marines, but failed on my eyesight (weak right eye) :( never been more disappointed. Ive since taken up electrical engineering and am hoping to get in the armed forces that route. And i guess your right, its mainly mental strength thats needed to get in the special forces, the ability to push yourself when your body tells you to quit. and no rush :)
These are obviously not current tactics. In saying that, the SAS and all those who fight for country are the bravest people on offer in civilisation. It's a shame that these people realistically face awful deaths.
+jon willard that's why the motto is who dares win because some of the missions these guys do are crazy I read up the other day , a 8 man SAS patrol wore full length women burkas and went into raqqa the heart of Isis to kill a Isis commander .
38 months to be a SEAL: 2 months boot, 6 months BUD/S, 6 months SQT, 18 month deployment workup, 6 month deployment. only 14 months until pinned with trident though. but youre right, its a piece of cake. and you must know all about it from your experience in the royal marines and SAS
Great bunch of lads... my friends father who recently passed away was in the special air service... my father was in the RAF in world-war 2 then the mod after that, i miss him.
Eddie Stone is Scottish, not English, as was the late John McAleese (Mac) Learn the difference for goodness' sake. I can tell the difference between various states in the US, and English-speaking Mexicans, and Canadians, and I'm over 3000 miles away. Trust me, we find this pretty annoying when people get this mixed-up. Thanks for the good words about our Special Forces though. US Special Forces are fine warriors too. :)
Maximus Can you read? At all? I am quite proudly British, thank you very much.. My issue was with someone who is obviously Scottish, being described, in public, as English. Simple. Hope this helps.
You'll be absolutely astonished at what one can achieve whist utilising and directing the correct mental/psychological approach toward a task. You will literally 'close down' and render pain stimuli near obsolete. And yet, simultaneously, the Trooper must remain utterly tactical. With repetitive training (the Killing House for example) it also becomes muscle memory too...almost a reflex-arc! 40 is definitely the new 20 MovieMad007! Best wishes.
This guys are like James Bond on steroids, this series is actually very rare, for the public to see how the most elite Special Force on the Planet operate, still to this day is my favorite Special Operations forces series ever made
I had an old friend from England who always said for any faults they have the Scottish are incredible leaders, tough and have serious integrity. He always said think Alex Ferguson a better leader and team player than a player alone
awesome videos! their training is emense. I can understand why they are up there with the best. A lot of their missions are known thow, where as the SAS/SBS is more secretive i think and they have made a few mistakes like the seals drowning and the helecopters crashing. Their gear and budget is something the SAS/SBS cant compete with either.
cheers for the info seems you know a lot about what your talking about. And yeah i thnk that would be the best way to describe the RM as amphibious assault troops. You have a good day too, pleasure talking with you :)
thanks for responding! like i said i understand what rails are for. my question is about the way a rail was specifically mounted on a weapon in the video. the rail appeared to be obstructing the rear sight and was not supporting a optical sight. (resulting in having no way to aim effectively) i have noticed this strange setup on other videos featuring the sas.
Jackson Hayes That's probably how they captured a few SAS troops over the years. They'll brainwash their taliban to operate in the same way these lads do.
Jackson Hayes Another scary thing is, terrorists actually completing this training, then going AWOL or purposely harming themselves to be discharged, then going overseas to tell them of their training and findings after years of being in the U.K. Sure, it's a big task, but spies do exist.
There are four Sabre squadrons of 64 operators each, so 256 SAS troopers when the regiment is at full strength. However -- it's almost never at full strength, so assume it's just a little lower than that. There are also several reserve units, but I'm not sure how many or how to count them.
We may be small as an island but in ww2 the Battle of Britain almost half the German airforce got shot down they broke us yes but the British got back up and fought back England truly has the best army and the best history
The United State's army is more powerful than Britain's, it is the most powerful military force in the world. England has a decently powerful army, but not the best.
Fighting Force Look it up, the US has the most powerful army in the world overall. This includes our air force, special forces, among other things. It's not an opinion.
Jakob Vogel The US has the biggest budget and the best technology but for the most part they have shot discipline and many American soldiers are huge pussies. The quality of the British SAS or any British solider is way better individually than any American solider ad this is coming from someone serving in PPCLI
I dont think serving in the Canadian military gives you a realistic perspective on American soldiers. The truth is, you have no idea which countries train their soldiers better than others, and Americans certainly aren't pussies, just like most militaries arent. The only factual basis is that the US has the undisputed best military in the world.
remember all special forces are based on british SAS. Most breach and clear exercises are taken from them, training I agree counts for a lot but experience is also important and all SAS members will have already served their time among the paras. the SAS served with DEVGRU in hunting high value targets in Iraq, so im guessing they are of a similar skill set.
for future reference: fireteam < squad < section < platoon < company < battalion < regiment/brigade < division < corps < army < army group please note that these don't include the formations created *during* a conflict; these are...for lack of better word, "presets" that most armies go by. Search it on wikipedia if you want more info.
A complete myth, anyway how would you know? Apparently they are made up pretty much as is the U.K English most, Scottish next Welsh and NI. How many jocks in a real operation like Bravo 2 Zero? 0. 7 All English 1 Kiwi and 1 Aussie.

@@jameswalker9040 what??????????
@@cheekboy7247 yeah he’s right
@@rp4712 About what?
@@cheekboy7247 well what he said…… about the SASR
to be honest, there was a research and its been shown that S.A.S has a longer history, with a better efficiency and a better mission completion percentage better then any known forces in the world.
the best snipers, the best in conventional groundbreaking warfare, infact British SAS forces conquer the republican assault division of saddam hussein, not Americans
Medebem Pascal but not Bin laden
+Spence Bread so both tyrant so what's your point sir? or FUCKING FUCKFACE
Medebem Pascal ohig
I love how matter-of-fact these guys are when describing equipment and weapons. The anti-tank mine at 34:35 - "Along comes the vehicle, tank, APC etc. Goes over the top, boom, goodbye the boys."
Just came across this. RIP John Mac and Brummie x
Sarah Essence Sorry mate are you saying they've died? have you gotten a link to anything I can't find a thing
This is like comparing NBA teams. They’re all amazing at basketball and they trade off being the best.
Green Berets have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT mission: irregular and unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, etc. as I understand it, SAS is more of a direct action/small scale raids force.
What you’re referring to is that England was the first to adopt small scale warfare
From the US, SAS are legendary. Much Respect.
R.I.P John Macaleese.
Great bunch of lads... my friends father who recently passed away was in the special air service... my father was in the RAF in world-war 2 then the mod after that, i miss him.
damn those english men are hard as nails... i like their mental attitude, i am american..
No we don't. Maybe you do
never met a scot, welsh or irish who really gave a flying fuck about being called british i think your alone in this tool
Maximus Can you read? At all? I am quite proudly British, thank you very much.. My issue was with someone who is obviously Scottish, being described, in public, as English. Simple. Hope this helps.
true, just re read the comment and realized i put the wrong name at the end, my fault mate
These are the cats who done the Iranian Embassy .
This aged well.
thanx for uploading
what about a hair drier and gel???
po lo all waste
This guys are like James Bond on steroids, this series is actually very rare, for the public to see how the most elite Special Force on the Planet operate, still to this day is my favorite Special Operations forces series ever made
RIP John mcaleese
I want to see how he packed his bag. It can be crucial to be able to find your items quickly.
Yeah, by logic I assumed the same thing, but 60-70% of SAS members are Scottish, I have no idea why given that they're only 11%? of the UK pop.
I had an old friend from England who always said for any faults they have the Scottish are incredible leaders, tough and have serious integrity. He always said think Alex Ferguson a better leader and team player than a player alone
27:07 why would you disable your sniper rifle? it's a good weapon for that long distance kind of situation.
Best of the Best
great to see mac,one of the most famous
I wounder who picked the number 9
Imagine getting shot for being shit at adding up..!
haha exactly what I thought
Do they change now to number 10 because we all know the SECRET now?
Nereikia. Vadovėlių. Jie SAS. Dziedai. Veteranai
Respect!
This is legitimately everything royal marine cadets teaches you lol. Such good childhood fun and memories
49:10 (my personal meme timestamp for "See you in hell")
Lol
awesome videos! their training is emense. I can understand why they are up there with the best. A lot of their missions are known thow, where as the SAS/SBS is more secretive i think and they have made a few mistakes like the seals drowning and the helecopters crashing. Their gear and budget is something the SAS/SBS cant compete with either.
British are the best S.A.S
im American
Nereus Smookie - Team Captain Being American is irrelevant. Maybe if you ask a Pakistani and says the same thing, I would believe it.
Nereus Smookie - Team Captain Pretty sure the Aussie SAS is the best in the world
-everyone
Raughing outRoud SASR.
AeonProjectz except kill 6 million innocent people because he didn't like their race.
AeonProjectz haha I'm about as anti American gov as you can get but i would go as far as that.
the legends definetly the hardest group of special forces around the world
who wants join the SAS after this? I am impressed!
cheers for the info seems you know a lot about what your talking about. And yeah i thnk that would be the best way to describe the RM as amphibious assault troops. You have a good day too, pleasure talking with you :)
that is basic training for the British army , anyway know what your up against.
Dumbasses who teach enemy their base tactics?
thanks for responding! like i said i understand what rails are for. my question is about the way a rail was specifically mounted on a weapon in the video. the rail appeared to be obstructing the rear sight and was not supporting a optical sight. (resulting in having no way to aim effectively) i have noticed this strange setup on other videos featuring the sas.
White phosphorous grenades...? Jesus Christ
Alex .,......huns. William Wallace ..Robert the Bruce . English lackeys
What about thermal imaging cameras, how do they camoflage themselves from that?
doesn't this break the code of silence?
I bet ISIS and the Taliban are loving these documentaries. Ahahaha
TheLondonCyclist exactly! XD
Jackson Hayes
That's probably how they captured a few SAS troops over the years.
TheLondonCyclist Damn that's crazy
There are four Sabre squadrons of 64 operators each, so 256 SAS troopers when the regiment is at full strength. However -- it's almost never at full strength, so assume it's just a little lower than that. There are also several reserve units, but I'm not sure how many or how to count them.
British army - Be the best!
Special air service - who dares wins
These guys are spectacular. Dare devils who dares and knock off the devil himself !
Jakob Vogel I think you mean mistake quantity for quality. Anyway china has a bigger army than us.
Oi, Suzy! that's how it's done...
thank so much for sharing.
"Chinese Parliament" 🤣
for future reference:
fireteam < squad < section < platoon < company < battalion < regiment/brigade < division < corps < army < army group
please note that these don't include the formations created *during* a conflict; these are...for lack of better word, "presets" that most armies go by. Search it on wikipedia if you want more info.
Dat mg42 tho.
Good job bro...go ahead...
49:16 “See you in hell”
2:17 John Mac, he’s a radio operator. He’s also a demolitions expert and he’s sick of your shit…
In 2017, This should be call: How to play arma 3 with maximum intensity.
Bring hunger to ArmA 3 vanilla.
-"Did you pack my extra ammo?"
-"No, but I have plenty of carrot smoothies."
29:54 How does this strategy actually work? Its super easy to get shot while crouching
All of em Scottish
70% of S.A.S are scottish
Yep
I hate when the English mock the Scottish
Wrong, Some are Scottish.
Fighting Force I know
But look at the video lmao
you know that the SAS was one of first special forces unit in the world. And they trained some of the Navy seals
Proud to be English 🇬🇧
Watcha YT proud to be Scottish, I mean we do make up 70% of the SAS after all
A complete myth, anyway how would you know? Apparently they are made up pretty much as is the U.K English most, Scottish next Welsh and NI. How many jocks in a real operation like Bravo 2 Zero? 0. 7 All English 1 Kiwi and 1 Aussie.
You make an excellent comment MovieMad007! Best wishes.
