I've driven a Miata on track with power steering and one one without. the deference in feel is honestly negligible. the perks of power steering for slow moving maneuvers far out weighs the added 'feel' imo. plus bump steer also gets mitigated so the steering wheel doesn't feel like it might jolt out of your hands so a kit like this is a win win if you ask me!
No way Jose. A properly depowered rack is far different from any power steering set up. Low speed and high speed. Power steering is for driving your girlfriend around with two fingers and drinking your carmel machiatto. Miatas are worlds better without ps. It gives it that real "go kart" feel.
I'm always super appreciative of your content man. All these videos will be super relevant to me in the years to come. As someone who's especially detail oriented, your way of doing things matches perfectly.
This video is amazing, a solid 10 out of 10, am going to install the same kit in my own na miata, in a few months. am so gonna stick to this guide for as much as i can!
I know it's 2 years old now. I have a suggestion for storing screws, nuts and bolts. I use an egg carton and can then drop them into the indents where the eggs would go and label.
Saw this on Kmiata's website and had to find it on UA-cam to give it a Like. I really appreciate the genuine description at the end concerning the steering feel because that's what I was mostly concerned about. Really explained it good. Answered all questions. Thanks man thumbs up for sure
yeah maybe youtube is better than tiktok, these mf on tiktok be hating on this build whilst im most blown away by this amazing build. Definition of perfection
I had this on my car and sold it almost straight away because no matter what I did the steering wouldn't return to center. I reached out to Ken at epowersteering regarding my concern with well written, detailed emails and he responded with lousy one line responses and no resolution ever happened. I'd avoid this setup like the plague unless you want to gamble 1k in hopes that it works.
@@OMGBUILDS What is your caster setting? Not retuning to center is a known issue on this kit, but if yours is working properly please do a video showing the return to center works. This is the only concern I have before making the purchase for my daily driver thanks so much man for the great content!
@@ePowerSteering I did. I had the car aligned with 7* of caster, that was the most we were able to get even compromising some camber to get that much caster and the car was dangerous. You could let go of the wheel at any speed mid turn and it would maintain the turn and never unwind the wheel / return to center. The power assist was great at slow speeds but overall it made the car un-driveable. Beyond all of that when I reached out to you, @epowersteering, you all didn't want to give me the time of day. The customer service is not what I expected given the price of the kit
A shop recommended this electric power steering kit. I’m considering it. I have an sr20det in my NA. I’m having trouble finding fittings for my PS line.
Your car reminds me of a Jeep CJ I had for 14 yrs. It was as clean as yours! I swear you could lick every part and mine I offroaded!!! It was nuts like yours modified wise. Everything in the engine compartment was chromed except the carb that was 24kt. Gold plated! I had over $60K in 1970's & 80's money in the thing! It was a great investment as I got $15,200 for it when I sold it in 1990. Any how I understand the way you think and I like your work. Best Always and in ALL WAYS, Chris
Don you know if/when you'll be making that battery bracket for the odyssey battery available? That is slick and I need a bigger battery for my engine swap.
im curious if i could use this brands universal rack and put it into the s2000 for a better driving feel, trying to drift my turbo s2000 and dont know how to get rid of eps issues
Thanks for the reply! Stock NA caster is 5 degrees so adding another 3 degrees would need 8 degrees? Max caster is around 6 degrees so just wondering how to get a good return to center feel with the electric steering?
You know my NA build was supposed to be on a budget after the Turbo ND1 build. Not doing the rocket-bunny but your build is so clean and parts so great. I’m gonna exceed the ND1 build Cost! Thanks for all the ideas! You’re not helping my finances or marriage.😂
Love that although you do everything so clean and seem to make it look easy, you still have the same struggles as us plebs when reaching in places you can barely get to. Edit: What does the motor do when turned to zero? Does that "lock" the shafts together giving a similar feel as a depowered rack or does it simply do nothing on steering wheel input but stil dampen feedback from the tires?
HI i am a new oner of a 1990 miata but its hard to park and do tight manuvers to get it to the garadge so i wanted to buy the kit. But i live in romania in europe and i am afraid it migt not come so did they provide traking ?
It is taller. I put my Bosch battery from my NA into my NB and had to add a spacer for the oem tie down, as the battery was taller than the original height.
less weight, weight relocated for better distribution, no more flammible liquid, no more overheating, less parastic drag on crank, more room for activities.
Haven't seen your channel before and gotta admit I did skip through most of your video but your miata is absolutely sick! and I loved the explanation at the end of how some people find it feels detached, I haven't seen that before and it gave me more to think about as I had been considering changing to something similar! For that you get a like, comment and subscribe! Will definitely check out some more vids in the future.
EPS is probably the worst thing that can be done to a sports car. I can't stand them even in the average commuter car or SUV, I can't imagine how much it'd destroy the feel of a car you're supposed to enjoy actually driving.
@@reck0n3r and if im unable to enjoy my car the way its should be because its not steering properly or close to good enough this could very well be my solution.
The main point is it is adjustable on the fly from about Zero Assist to 100% assist. Secondly it removes alot of crap in the engine bay for adding Forced Induction, removes a very flammable liquid, removes weight and redistributes the lesser weight in to a much better location. It is also maintenance free.
2 years ago you posted this, today I will watch it 10x to prep me for installing the kit into my Kswap. Thanks for the content!

Im looking at this for mine for drifting. Want to see if this is a simple go to fix for those who want simplicity while retaining performance.

@Adam, did you try to add 3 degrees of caster?

How is the return to center with the electric compared to manual?
The electric steering will fight the return a little bit. If you add a little bit more caster, 3 degrees, it will return normally.
Thanks for the reply! Stock NA caster is 5 degrees so adding another 3 degrees would need 8 degrees? Max caster is around 6 degrees so just wondering how to get a good return to center feel with the electric steering?
For the ignition bolts, you can cut a slit with a Dremel and back it out with a flathead.

Really nice! Just one question, the column is still collapsible?
No
I want to upgrade to electric steering too, but unfortunately the steering rack is only compatible to US Miata's... Is there a version for EU Miata's?
So what’s the name of the switch that controls the assistance?
just like han,
i think I'm in love
8:38 same bro, same
Can you use this on a manual steering rack ?
So I've seen this for my fd3s..how do you like the setup since you've done the swap after a few months?
Id love if they made these for the s2000 to fixed their eps issues.
can you turn this off completely while driving or is there always a little power steering?
What a gorgeous car, what wheels are those? They'll definitely look great on my 944
Where did you get those side mirrors?
Thanks for the help
What type of lights are those? The ones you’re using under the dash to light up?
Did you not use the new combination switch?
see now im making a race truck 2008 nissan titan you think this would work for that ?
can’t wait until I can buy a miata
Out if curiosity is the na battery physically smaller than the nb? I was able to turn that same battery on it's sideand use the oe tie down on my nb.
It is taller. I put my Bosch battery from my NA into my NB and had to add a spacer for the oem tie down, as the battery was taller than the original height.
Like the videos but how do you use Allen keys for everything 😭
I just want to know why? No throwing shade but I really don't understand why

Where can buy the battery tie down
Don't have a miata. Curious if this kit fit t2 fc rx7?
This is great! I was just looking into this!😄
I have a 2016 charger, I can't move the steering wheel, it's very hard
I need this on my s14. The stock steering is trash even after a full rebuild 😭
I would like to put it on my mazda 323 astina
Can put on RX-7?
It needs a badass hood
What year is your Miata? Love the vids btw
Thanks, 1994
@@OMGBUILDS thanks!
Can I add this to a 90 1.6l base Miata? It didn’t come with a/c or power steering from factory..
Yes, this kit fits all NAs and NBs.

Less power loss on the engine
