    Greatest Late night host. Period. Nobody else can do what he does, and he's been consistent throughout multiple eras of television.

    I’m proud to say I was one of those people from Houston that stayed up and watched Conan at 2:40 in the morning. When I had school I’d time record it on my VCR with a blank tape. Been a Conan fan along time.

    I WAS AWAKE AND WATCHING IN HOUSTON WHEN THIS AIRED!! I NEARLY CRIED LAUGHING AND WOKE UP MY PARENTS AND THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD!!!! And the crazy thing is... I NEVER KNEW WE WERE THE ONLY CITY in the nation WTF!??! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! This is my favorite Conan clip of all time, and solidified my loyalty to Conan forever!!

      I wish Conan had come to Minneapolis sometime, but we never popped up on his radar I guess. Had he come or if he ever does, I know he would come in the Winter and derive some kind of humor from the frigidity.

    I am from Houston, and in '97, I used to stay up late and by chance I had come across Conan's show. I felt like I must have been the only person in the whole city to have stumbled upon something really cool and funny. I kept imagining myself looking around wondering if anyone else was watching such a funny guy as well. It was like a secret that only I knew about.

    I remember Conan said at the JFK hall when he was younger he wasn't good at anything but realized he did one thing better than most people and that was diffusing a situation with comedy...that really shines here.

      what did jay leno do ? he is erased of the face of television and his legacy is as the man who screwed everyone he met and they were happy to forget him after he was gone !

      @@OrokanaMkIII funny you should say that, Pablo escobar had over 50 billions of dollars in bank in around 70s and alot of hard cash burried beneath the ground, so much so that 100 generations after him did not know how to spend all that money , and yet when he was kicked out of cuba by government, and was living a great life in other countries of south america, he was willing to pay the entire national debt of Cuba , just to be allowed to get back into his own country !
      money creates happiness, but does not sustain it ! reputation and the love of people does !

    I remember watching this episode live, more than 20 years ago in Houston on a school night. I was in Middle School. I used to watch David Letterman and then Conan.

      The Freedman ahhh, same same. I must have been about 10 or 12. I caught the first episode (with John Goodman) by luck and couldn’t believe what the hell I was watching. Kinda blew my adolescent mind and because no one else in my life at the time knew about the show I always felt like it was that much more special. I watched it every night. Like you, I would watch Letterman, then switch to Conan.

      I'd catch him during summer break more often than not. I know I saw him a lot more frequently than I should've for a show that came on at 2:40am. He had the only late night program that I even remotely enjoyed and KPRC put him on sooooo late.

    At 14 years old I would stay up until 2:40 to watch this show. That is the truth. I am now 29. Conan's show was the last good program to air in Houston in the late 90's. And I never missed it. After his show it would be nothing but infomercials. Good programs wouldn't begin until 6am or 7am. Don't get me started on Letterman. I began watching Letterman at 5. I even requested a suit like letterman's suit and loafers for a wedding I went to at 6yrs old. Just saying been a long time viewer.

      Same here. Then a year later after this skit they moved his show to 1:30a and then by 2005 they moved him to 12:30a. Now the Late Night w Seth Meyers is immediately after Fallon in Houston.

    As a Houstonian, I can remember these days. You had to stay up to the wee hours just to see Conan. A couple of years after this they did eventually change his time slot to be directly after Jay Leno and we were able to see prime Conan before bedtime.

    Conan really shines when he's doing one on one interactions, unscripted, unprompted and off the top of his head. It's why his remotes have been and still are hilarious, and it's the reason why the podcast is so good.

    This is one of my favorites. I recorded this on VHS back then and watched it numerous times. Conan is a lot like Anthony Bourdain the way he interacts with people. Very gifted. Unique talent. 😎👍

    Watching this on August 12th,2021. I'm from Houston and I remember watching this when it aired.

    This segment is my oldest memory of Conan. I think it may have been the first time I ever watched him. As a kid flipping through channels late one night I came across it and just started watching.

    There was something warm and funny when you see these classic Conan skits. I guess it's partially because it was in the 90s and back then it was you and the tv watching this late at night.

    I remember watching this when it aired, I've never forgotten the Buffalo guy or Conan saying "I was just almost murdered" 🤣🤣🤣. Never missed this show back then, can't believe I finally found this clip. Also the short little pre-recorded clips they used to show in between commercial breaks, does anybody remember the one where Conan and Andy were walking down the halls of their offices shoulder to shoulder and pushing any employees that were in the way to the side?? so damn funny!

    Fantastic skit! I started watching Conan when I was 14. That was in 2000. I'm 33 now, 19 years later and he is still making me laugh!

    I remember watching this for the first time. My brother and I always complained about how Houston was the only city that didn't show Conan on time! So we'd stay up wayyyy late every night to watch Conan.

    Houston wasn't the only city. Milwaukee didn't insult Conan as much as Houston, but they did air the show Extra between Conan and Leno. As a kid, longest 30 minutes ever.

      in St Louis, they aired Jerry Springer between Conan and Leno, and was delayed by a 1/2 in Twin Cities because that station had have their nightly Cheers reruns before Leno
