    ❤❤❤❤ These exercises truly healed my vocal nodes. I thought I was never going to be able to sing again. I was taught by a vocal coach here to use coffee straws and in the beginning I had to use 4-5 at a time but as my vocal cords strengthened, I removed them one-by-one and got down to where I'm just using one.

    I've found the straw exercises very helpful in releasing strain. I carry half of a straw in my pocket and if I feel like I'm straining or getting hoarse in a social situation, I will use it as a quick "tune up" and it always helps, even if just temporarily.

      I love the word you used "tune up". I am going to use it! Thank you!

    The straw has drastically improved my singing voice and it helps to relax my throat. I find it very useful to find the correct resonance placement for the song. The only thing I have observed is that the resonance or vibration of muscle is very hard to find when singing higher key. it may be just a little at the nasopharyngeal area, am I correct? If not, please correct me. Thanks so much. Really appreciate your introduction and detail explanation how to make the exercise effective. You are the best.

      It is absolutely true that as you are ascending in range, you will "loose" the sensations. They may be felt somewhere else though and they may be smaller.

    I’ve been doing this exercise for a while now and it’s working very well. When I’m ready to stop, what is the best way to taper off the exercise?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  9 місяців тому

      Good question! Reduce the frequency or the length of the exercise gradually. For example, not every day or for a few minutes less.

    First of all, thank you very much for your valuable sharing. I watch your videos every day. I discovered you a month ago. I feel like I have found a treasure. Thanks to your content, I have a daily routine and I am more aware of my voice and my body. I am a singer and also a teacher. I actively use my voice and I benefit a lot from the information you provide. I would like to ask a few questions. Do you have a video about Lax vox therapy? If not, can you inform us? I do exercises with the doctor vox device instead of straw exercises. I also have another question. I feel that there is air flow in my voice when I hit high notes and my vocal cords are not fully closed. How can I prevent this. Are there exercises that will help full closure in high notes? I would be very grateful if you enlighten us. Sincerely.

      @healthyvoicetips  5 місяців тому +1

      Those are great questions. I do not have a video about Lax vox therapy but straw exercises are basically the same. I have a lot of videos on that. To achieve a fuller closure of the vocal folds in the upper register, I suggest you try lip trills. Also, make the sound more "whiny" or "whimpery" to close them better. I hope this helps.

    I don't make any difference by using the straw . I don't know why , but I know I sing the same. Maybe the size of straw matters. .

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  9 місяців тому

      The size of the straw definitely matters. Also, your goals and what you are working towards matters. This is not a magical tool that solves all voice problems.

      Well, there is no help to self-do students after all . Only lessons as live *walk ins* face to face : *one on one sessions* might do the job.

    How can I use straw exercises to strengthen and sustain higher notes?
    May I request you to guide please?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  2 роки тому +1

      The same way as you would for lower notes. You still need to chose a pitch that you can comfortably do without tension and then you sustain the sound for as long as you can without pushing.

    I am a pediatrician and I lost my voice because of laryngitis and glottis incompetence. ENT specialist recommended me to have voice therapy. Unfortunately, there is no speech specialist in my country. Can I try straw exercise for my condition? Or do I need other ones? Please kindly give your suggestions!

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому

      Straw will not hurt you. They can help with better vocal fold closure but I don't know the reason for your condition. You may also need some other type of exercises.

    Hello! I've been suffering from muscle tension dysphonia for a while. I have a very quiet voice and usually when I use a low resistance straw, my voice feels harder to use, whereas with a high resistance straw it's kinda hit or miss. When using a high resistance straw I feel like its harder to phonate through it, but I dont feel any tension around my neck like I feel with a low resistance straw. Is this "resistance" that I'm feeling the back pressure you've talked about?

    A bit more than a week now, I’ve been trying straw phonation. Noticing a DECREASE in chest voice range and power, vibrato, belt, and most concerning, the back of my throat (area behind epiglottis) and what feels like the velum or the post-nasal drip area of nasal passages are swollen with no fixes. Am I trying to do too much, get results too fast? Is that why there’s swelling and loss of skills? Please advise?

      There may be many reasons. Did you try some of the suggestions from this video? Also, straw exercises should not be the only exercise you do. They should be a part of a bigger plan.
