      Same but when Im at my house my voice sounds like a teacher’s voice (the volume of their voice)
      But when im outside (,telling what I want in restaurant,talking to my classmates or random people),my voice is very weak
      Maybe because im nervous/suppressing it thinking people might talk about me

    Thank you for sharing this video. I recently had a severe GERD flare-up that had a dramatic impact on my voice. Even after treatment, I never got my vocal strength and clarity back. I've begun doing these exercises to help, and I was surprised to find them somewhat difficult. Obviously I'll pursue further speech therapy if I don't begin to see improvement, but this is a wonderful starting point. Fingers crossed I start to sound more like myself again soon.

The link to the 7 step video is here: how2improvesinging.mykajabi.com/strong-voice-without-tension

      Thanks for your response. Yes, about 4 months ago I visited an ENT due to a clogged ear issue. She observed my hoarse with pauses in my speech. After the vocal cord examination she said my vocal cords were not completing closing.

      I think the STRAW PHONATION is beginning to help.

      If you are dealing with vocal issues and have been treated with Botox, there may be an anatomical difference that makes this exercise difficult for you. I suggest that you chose a type of exercise that you can do safely without extra tension. Start in your comfortable range.

    Would I be correct in understanding these exercises serve a dual purpose: reducing tension as well as strengthening? Dealing with ongoing MTD, I’m beginning to know which exercises help relieved my muscle pain and tension in my larynx, and I guess I don’t want to rush into exercises that I’m not ready for. Thank you for all you do : )

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому +3

      Good question. The type of exercise that I use in this video are so called SOVT exercises that optimize the vocal function as you do them. Whether you use the straw exercises to strengthen or relax the voice depends on the width of the straw. So for strengthening exercises I would chose a straw with higher resistance.

    Do you recommend doing a 5-10 min vocal warm up before doing this in the morning? The sirens are part of your recommended vocal warm up video as well. How is this different then doing the warm up?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому

      That is a good question. The goal of warm ups is different from the goal of strengthening exercises. I would say that the difference is in the frequency and length of the exercise. As you can see, both can use the same vocal exercises.

    Hi I have a question for you. Would you do these if your voice is going away or cracking? Or would you just rest the voice? Also what if you need to sing/perform when your voice is weak and cracking. How would you go about that?? (Ps it’s weak and cracking from talking too loud, not singing)

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  6 місяців тому

      This video is about the strengthening part of the exercises. You can use the same exercises but with a different regime and with a different focus if working with an overworked or strained voice. You don't need to practice different pitches - focus more on the effort levels when doing the exercises.

    Hi. I used to sing professionally but have not used my voice regularly for many years. I have lost my range and some pitch and need to rebuild from scratch. When practicing the sirens through a straw, my voice ‘cuts out’ on the way up but is fine on the way down. I’ve only started the sessions a few days ago but was wondering if you have any suggestions or is this just something that will improve with practice? Thank you

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому +2

      That is very normal! Many people experience this. If you want, just do the sirens from top down and notice what you are doing to transition through the break (less air?). Then, start from the top and go back up. And practice in this way.

    Katarina, quick question and I may have asked this before… is any air coming through your nose as you do these or is it all coming through the mouth and straw only? Thank you in advance!

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  2 роки тому +2

      The air is coming through the mouth and the straw. Nothing coming out of the nose. If air is escaping through the nose, either pinch your nose or try to figure out what you need to do to direct the air through the mouth (e.g. pretend you have a cold/blocked nose). I hope this helps.

    Hi, i will definately try this exercise.. i am a soprano, a opera singer here in Brasil, and recently i've been ill, and i also have allergies and asthma. But i am ok now, since i consulted my doctor. My vocal chords are normal and okay, but unfortunatelly when i sing any songs in higher range my voice gets weak and low, and that range used to be very easy and bright before. It's been like that for 3 weeks now, so i'm a little desperate... Any advices?? Or other videos you recommend? Please! I would really aprecciated.

      It may take some time to get your voice back after being sick. I would recommend exercises that you already know that are beneficial for you. Important concepts to review are support, breath pressure, and vocal fold closure to get a strong sound in the upper range.

    Hello, Katrina-these are easy. My question is: Have you ever treated someone with a vocal tremor? I have been told that there is no cure for my tremor, but that I should get Botox injections for this twice a year. My intuition tells me that there must be a way to improve this through exercise and other possible ways. I feel that exercise helps cure many ills. I declined the Botox. What are your thoughts. Thank you! Jane

      I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with myasthenia gravis. Exercise is important to keep the muscles working but too much exercise can cause fatigue. So the balance of exercising and resting is important. These exercises can help but will not solve the underlying problem. I wish you all the best.

    Hi Katarina, I have a question!
    I'm an elementary school teacher and my voice goes whenever we start the new term. I can feel pain in my throat when I talk to them. I have to talk a lot and fairly loud, so I think I'm straining my voice every day without rest. I'm scared I'm going to permanently damage my voice. Can you advise what would be best? Thank you! :)

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому +2

      The very first step is to have your voice assessed by a laryngologist (that is an ENT doctor who specializes in voices) to make sure that your voice is ok. Then, I would suggest that you start working with a voice therapist (if the laryngologist recommends it). You need to first know how your voice looks and how it functions, then you can start finding solutions. If you have further questions, you can ask me via myhealthyvoice@gmail.com
