- Rebel Wilson recently said she was the first plus-size woman to star in a romantic comedy, which had a lot of people confused… 'cause she is definitely not! Real fam, what do you think about her statement?

"Issa new day for us fat chicks". 😂😂
Best part about this video! 😂❤
Y'all still saying "Issa"?🤦🤦
@@OneLoveRSR Loni said it and that is why I put quotation marks. 😩😂
So Mo'Nique wasnt plus sized in "Phat Girlz" and she wasnt a lead?! Sit down chile
Shereese Murphy exactly
Right - the movie is literally called Phat girlz😒
Catie R right 🤣
Even at her smallest, Monique has always been in the category of Plus Size. Wtf is she talking about.
Was phat girlz a romantic comedy?
Queen Latifah had to fight to even be paid a measly $200k for The Last Holiday which was a great movie. Rebel needs to fall back because I bet she’s making millions on her movie.
Yes, I it was funny. Queen Latifah is a legend.
J Saadati It says a lot about her. How she views herself, & how she sees others. Clearly she sees herself as more important, which for me takes away from her entire message.
J Saadati I absolutely love that movie I didn't know that
Ri ya that's very low for a feature length movie
Ri ya that's what they offered
That was out of pocket she shoulda known she’s not the first. And then to get upset when people had receipts...girl 🙄
BritBrit Nicole Her response was the worst part.
j t right
She known she wasn’t.
But it’s about being white and she say so.
Leave it to Aunt Loni for making our day! 🤗🤗
The calm mammy when it comes to throwing white women names out
R Stu ...only calm one? 😒
that's the first thought I had. Leave it to Loni to make this funny
What about America Ferrera in real women have curves
Remember Adrienne said she was the first Latina to do the "you're watching Disney channel", but it was actually America ferrera
@gmi g right? Lol She was in the movie got to kick it up. It was the cheerleading movie
Yasss !!!
Thank you
😂
I think she straight up forgot she's not in Australia anymore lol...... Know your history baby know your history.
Don't you mean Geography? Lol
@@imogenmoonlight I'm pretty sure they mean American history
@@kayleeamber609 Ha funny.
She probably knows Australian history
And even her Australian history is the exact same rhetoric as American history.
Loni looks amaaazzziiinnnnnggggg
Yesssssssssssss
Yess deep wave/water wave hair compliments her so well. She looks much more youthful too
I love her hair curly and wavy she looks so pretty!
@Waldo Rojas Go HOME Roger
As Tamar would say "SHE TRIEDDDDDDD IT!"
Was I the only one who heard Jeannie at 1:57 say “Well all I could see was Common in that one” 😂😂
Jeannie came through with an awesome perspective.
With her cute dimples.
As always... I adore Jeannie so much!
I agree. I loved her points
I liked Loni's last point about Mae West as well. Jeannie's argument was what I was thinking originally, that maybe she just doesn't know other American films (mainly because she grew up with Australian culture, American films predating the 00's or films made to target mainly just one culture in America aren't going to be something she's familiar with). Her response on Twitter is what messed her up though, she should've just played the Australian card and let it go lol
Okay, but let’s address the fact that she was mostly blocking women of color, even if they came at her politely. All she had to do was apologize and recognize the women who came before her. It’s still a huge accomplishment for her, so I don’t understand why it’s so hard to recognize Monique and Queen Latifah.
Destiny H my thoughts exactly.
I think we all understand why smh
She just lost a fan in me and I can’t even stand MoNique, but Rebel’s behavior was just childish!
MsRose00 Right. I respected her as a person. And I would have still supported the movie, even though she isn’t the first to do it. But her behavior towards being corrected is absolutely ridiculous.
Probably because she's not black. Would you acknowledge the likes of Reese Witherspoon, if you was a actress? It's normal for her to say that.
Thank you Loni for mentioning Mae West, She was plus size and considered almost too sexy in the 1920's and 30's; plus she gave Cary Grant his start in movies as her male lead in a rom-com that she wrote.
Rebel couldn't be more clueless about this, and the ladies ofcourse did a good job in mentioning the women who have come before Rebel. And it's also ironic Rebel makes such a big claim, when her new movie is literally ripping off "I Feel Pretty", Amy Schumer's movie.
Seriously, I thought it was the same movie during the trailer until half way through lol
it's not though.
They're very "real" when they have an opinion about a celeb they're not buddies with
"Our girl, Cardi B... WHO WE LOVE, RIGHT?!" and then proceed to defend every last thing she does or not even bring up where she got it fucked up at.
Nandi Majola Yesss 😂😂😂
So true 😂😂
Haha..
Why block? Just say ‘oops. My bad’ and keep it moving.
Anyway it’s plain to see white Hollywood don’t count ‘black movies’
Which is why when they do some ish like this continue to call them out
LadyChaos101 white fragility is a constant struggle woah is us right ugh girl can't just Columbus an industry like that and then justify it. Friendly reminder the ugg boot originates from Australia and so does Rebel mayo
Did you forget hairspray
LadyChaos101 it’s true. I don’t watch a lot of black movies
The actress that played Mercedes in Glee, sorry I forgot her name, has also been in rom-coms as the lead
Her name is amber riley i think
Rebel is so beautiful but I don't agree with her at all
I don't agree with most of what she says.
Nothing against her as a person but for me it feels like every role she plays is just the same rehashed token "fat chick" and it gets kind of annoying
@Niqui H I said the same. Where?
kim berley “ They are beautiful but...” Beauty does not negate deceit, lying, selfishness, etc.
She is not beautiful lmao
Ummm Last Holiday??? One of the best Omj. She was CLEARLY plus size. Queen! I love Rebel but take the L. And Hairspray was clearly a hit. TWICE. Hello??
Black movies don't matter to studios that's why it was billed as a first. I mean lets be real here
Tituba but Hairspray...
Yeah ur right. Coz its black
Lmao Adrienne looks like she’s frozen 🤣🤣
Explain
@MAPULE VELLY Mampuru oh I see. Thank you
Whitney April maybe she’s hangry and thinking about lunch😧🤤🌮🍔🥪🍕🥗
@MAPULE VELLY Mampuru Lmaoooo
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 what's wrong with her
Why is it ALL these younger entertainers act like nothings been done till they did it. NOT TRUE! show some respect you can lose your fan base. MUCH LOVE & RESPECT TO MAE WEST for showing big is sexy.
Madea was also a big chick hahaha
The Life and Thoughts of Shan And Big Momma 😂😂
Dead 😂😂
Mama Klump....Hercules Hercules Hercules...even Janet who played Prof. Klumps love interest was a bigger when she shot that film...and she wasnt wearing a fat suit. That was a second installment that had romantic tones.
T Y honestly 😂
I wasn't ready for this😂😂😂😂
Adrienne is thinking wtttttfffffff 😂💕.
Bringing Down the House
Just Right
Last Holiday
Back to the fridge Rebel!
America, this is some room temperature Mayo ish!
Smelling funky!
This just let you know she ain’t got no black friends!
Also beauty shop, or whatever the name was.
@Angelisa Hassan why not?
@Angelisa Hassan you sound more pressed than a pennini 💅
@Angelisa Hassan I mean she did get a guy...but I agree it's not a romantic comedy...just a comedy.
Sorry to tell you: none of these movies were ever in a cinema here in Europe.
Neither Queen Latifah or Monique are household names outside the US. Rebel is australian. I bet she never saw a movieposter for any the titles you mention, growing up.
I love Jeannie on this show! She’s so articulate and she always makes valid points. Honestly I wouldn’t watch these clips if she wasn’t on the show.
Big momma was the first plus size rom com. Y'all better recognize 😎
“The nice thing about Twitter is they will check yo ass “ I love loni omg
"It's a new day for us fat chicks" Loni 🙌🏾😂😂😂
Jeannie out here serving wisdom realness 👌
What about “last holiday” that was definitely a romantic comedy
She just wants to be special. She was just too late to the "First plus size ________" game
As an aussie (rebel is an aussie) I am shocked at her response to being called out and to actually have of made that comment in the first place, I get she is proud to have gotten a lead role after what she has gone through and that is commendable but don't just go around saying you are the first when you haven't done any research.
I will also point out we all dont know who what the first plus size women to have a lead role in a romantic film
The Last Holiday - Starring Queen Latifah & LL Cool J ... One of my favs ❤️
To be honest I love how EVERYBODY completely forgot about Rikki Lake in Mrs. Winterborne 1996. Hairspray is a musical.
Last holiday was everything!
Everybody is professionally outraged these days, it’s ridiculous. Are you really offended? Or are you virtue signalling? I think the latter. I couldn’t care less about Rebel Wilsons comments. Next!
she needs to be shut up and be grateful she has a career.
duppy conqueror people have the right to be offended, so shut up
Aubrey M my point is, not everything needs to get made into a big political debate! In order to think/have an opinion you have to risk offending people. People are loosing their jobs for simply having an opinion these days, and because of all this manufactured outrage that’s floating about. Do you honestly believe people are really offended by Rebel Wilson’s comment? NO. Those same people probably aren’t even talking about it anymore. It was just another excuse to virtue signal, and make themselves look good. Notice how everyone who was “upset” with her comment all said the same thing, they all mentioned the same people, expressed the same “concern” word for word. Because people are scared to think for themselves these days. And social media plays a huge part in that. Disagree all you want, but to say you’re offended is absurd. Everybody wants to be a victim 😴.
duppy conqueror even in these comments, nobody can say anything without being rebuked and rebutted in the name of Jesus. But yea, I don't care for this chick either
Monique - Phat Girlz
"Twitter will check your ass and come back with receipts" 😂😂😂
Adrienne must have been daydreaming when Jeannie spoke 😆
Idk how to feel about this
Lol Adrienne’s face at the beginning 😂
Oh god people complaining about stupid things
Who else looked at Jeannie’s face when Adrienne mentioned Common 😂🤨
When lol
So you all just gonna forget about the movie BAPS? Ok.....
Omg jeannies face when they mentioned common ..
Shaz Soltani am i missing something here???
Definitely not the first plus size woman to star in a "rom-com"
They say they use headlines as a leap off into conversation but these ladies ain't jumping off on this one lol
Love this show but dang Adrienne just takes over almost every conversation it seems like.
Cause she really starting out to come out her shell and stop that PC bullshit like Ms. Tam.
Laurakarely because the other are not opinionated
Adrienne can run a topic for a long time
Because lately she's always like, "I don't understand..." and that helps get the topic off with them having to explain it to her.
I'm tired of all people apologizing only when they're being pointed out.😈
lmao Adrienne was staring for so long!! I was confused with her 😂😂😂😂😂
Well done for mentioning Mae West: not only did she play the lead but wrote, produced and directed in theatre productions.
First person I thought of was Queen Latifa, girl please 😂
Another movie Queen Latifah did was Last Holiday in 2006!! It was a romantic comedy , so we'll done!! And thank you🙌🙌 Ricki Lake was pretty freaking awesome in Hair spray !!
Rebel can be like: I'm the first plus-size, Australian actress slash female lawyer, who won a defamation case, who starred as a female lead in a rom-com. Try questioning her on that! But oh my goodness, love Queen Latifah and the other lady they features who starred in Phat Girls - that movie was definitely memorable in the 2000s.
I watch Last Holiday even when it aint winter 😂 YASSSS QUEEN LATIFA!!!!
Omg!!! Loni you read my mind. That's exactly who I thought of. I may not have watched her movies but I know she was very famous and "plus size".
Yeah I don’t know who Rebel thought she was saying that she was the first... like no ma’am get ya facts straight first sis!
Why does everyone have to be the first?! Just be the best..your best.. and let your accomplishments shine thru!
We had all this when ppl were saying Black Panther was the first black lead superhero in a film and it was like ummmm what about Blade around 20 years ago?
Lol...... thank you for the laugh Loni!!
- Somebody is always trying to take credit for something that’s already been done. She needs to have several seats and do some research. 🙄🙄
Rebel is incorrect. She is feeling herself.
Last holiday was a romantic comedy. Queen Latifah been doing this.
Rebel is young and didn't consider her words. There haven't been many mainstream rom-coms with +size romantic leads but they're out there. She may have "forgotten" about or didn't relate to Mo'Nique and Queen Latifah but like mentioned there was Ricki Lake. Ricki was the go to for plus size lead women in movies back in the day. Hair Spray, Mrs. Winterbourne, Cry Baby (she wasn't the lead but...) Rebel didn't do her research and spoke to fast.
It doesn't matter if you relate
That's not the point. She was corrected and couldn't proceed to accept that in a humble manner. Humans make mistakes so that wasn't a big deal, it's just the fact she decided to double down in her wrongness. Ridiculous.
It is SOOOO refreshing when Jeannie speaks. That bit was so on point!!!! #justsaying
Jeannie always has the best points
I was excited to see Rebel’s film in theaters but now I think I’ll catch it on Redbox lol
Ricki lake also did Mrs. Winterborne, a romcom
When Jeanne said "when the tree falls in the forest, do we really hear it" (something like that"
I really thought of Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen
Ok Loni!! I said the same thing girl lol she forgot Tracy Turnblad had a lot of romance even though it was a musical comedy.. Monique was definitely plus size in Phat Girlz..
She should have said white plus size girl because Monique and Queen Latifah have been holding down the plus size black women for YEARS. Look at all the movies queen L has done and she has often been the love interest
Ok what annoys me about this is why does anyone need to be the first anything?Thats what annoys me now about this generation.
They talking about Twitter and Loni was the one coming with the receipts lol!
I didn’t know Leah Remini filled in for Adrienne today.
Maybe she was in Australia when those movies came out? Idk... the first one that came to mind was the "Last Holiday"
Dang... this surprised me coming from Rebel Wilson who seemed so much more down to earth than other actresses. I really liked her :/
I watch Queen Latifa's The Holiday frequently.
I'm so glad Loni said Mae West I was yelling it in my mind!
Jeannie always spitting facts by doing the outro
"twitter will check your ass" yes tf we will LMAO
"It's a new day for us fat chicks!" Loni is hilarious!😅 I'm surprised Monique didn't clap back at Rebel.
Yeah pretty pathetic comment on her part. I can say I’m the first gay male ASMRtist wearing makeup, but does something that specific really matter??!! Plus sized in a romantic comedy movie? Seriously ?!
She’s just mad because she’s not the first. 🙄 Adrienne is right, you should know when to admit your faults so you can learn from them and grow to be a better person. This is something people should learn from childhood, but it seems that a lot of people still don’t know when to back off and admit they’re wrong. 😩
Damn, Loni's eyes look really good!
Twitter: *calmly without any malice* Corrects Rebel
Rebel: *gets wrongfully obstinate*
Twitter: Really?! If this is what you want to do, then let's go
FYI: She didn't intend to include us African Americans (AA). In that case, she was still 🗣 WRONG, Ricky Lake & a list of others. Rebel EVERYBODY remembers a fat chick as the lead in a movie 🙄. S/n Adrienne's face has me in tears 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Now if she said she was the first non American on an American movie big girl maybe
Queen Latifa and LL. Cool J. did a romantic comedy together a while back (Last Holiday?) She thought she was going to die in the movie. And I'm pretty sure it was some plus size women before her who played in a romantic comedy.
I think what it boils down to is humility. If she really was “ the first” I’m sure someone would’ve pointed that out and given her, her due props.
She didn’t need to blow her own trumpet for recognition.
This would have been a more productive conversation if they could at least name the movies that Queen and Monique did. I don't remember them doing romantic comedies where they were the lead.
queen latifah last holiday is one of my fave rom com
How is she going to say that about herself without checking the facts first? Let someone else make the mistake of saying it, so that you don’t end up embarrassing yourself 🤦🏽♀️
I would have said “Awww...sh*t, I got excited and made a mistake.” She didn’t intentionally exclude those women. Everyone calm the efff down!!! Jeez!
When will people learn that there is consequences to your words. Stop thinking freedom of speech doesn't come with responsibility. And when you do get caught saying some wrong stuff, stop defending/deflecting it, and just own up to it. All Rebel Wilson had to say was, my bad I was wrong, and move on. Nobody would've been in a tizzy about it. But the way she replied and kept defending it is what got her the backlash.
What about the The Last Holiday? With Queen Latifah? I love that movie. Pretty sure that was a romantic comedy.
Last Holiday was my favorite Queen Latifah movie. Wayyyyy before Rebel Wilson and yes it was a rom com.
I love the point Jeannie made!❤️
These talk shows are pitiful. It’s all a front, all they do is gossip and talk down about what someone else doesn’t do PERFECTLY! Who are they.. just bc they’re being paid a lot of money to sit and look fake on camera doesn’t give them the right to criticize and break down every little thing someone does or says. There’s nothing positive about most of these talk shows today.
Considering the best role of her entire career was her reaction to miley what's good? She can zip it and have several seats
