@@PoplarMechanic hey man, did you invent that, tying the tail back to itself with a double fisherman's / scaffold knot? It's brilliant... I tried it today..... love it....
Really great instructions, one things is not every one learns the way someone teaches when it comes to knots, but you really make it easy for the guys that would maybe need to see another style of how to tie those knots, easy to pick up real fast from watching this vid ,good job bro
POPLAR MECHANIC !!! I very like your Base Anchor! Bravo! Bravo!! Bravo!!! 👏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 🇺🇦❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇦 I urgently need to learn your method of tying the Running Alpine Butterfly knot! This will greatly improve my safety in difficult trees!
I learned and tied a bidirectional running alpine butterfly knot with a double overhand for a back up knot today. thanks to you Rich Hattier and the good O Lord

Excellent. I often use an alpine butterfly with a quickie. I like the secondary knot to hold the knot in place. Were you referencing Richard Mumford? He is a genius. Thanks for sharing.
@@PoplarMechanic I really like the fisherman sinch. That is now my go to basal anchor since it will not lossen around the trunk if the climbing line goes taught then slack. Thanks for that!
Thanks jack its definitely my favorite one, you always see people adding hardware and making intricate systems, some times simple is best . Stay safe brotha happy new year 💯🤟
Bad ass bro. I really like the scaffold knot on the end. I've just been using a running bowline with a Yosemite tie off. But I'll have to give this a try.
Thanks for that video . Could you show a bidirectional running bowling, I've only seen it done twice on UA-cam but those videos are to pixelated. I really appreciate your videos keep it up 👍
Love it. Do you ever use hardware to connect the alpine to reduce rope on rope rub and if so what’s your favorite connector for anchors? My old setup was a cast quickie until I read that they’re produced in China and then sold by tree stuff...sorta messed with my mind haha
Ok so in this case I wouldn't be too worried about rope on rope rub. When I do a canopy anchor I use either a quickie (the milled version, pricy though) or a pinto and carabiner.
Haha poplars are sketchy but ill do what I can, always back up your rigging, sometimes I backup my tie in, it takes experience, but you can find a balance, and I have been in some of the worst situations possible, at some point it becomes an educated guess, be safe brotha
Alpine Butterfly knots are bullet proof , they don't untie , they can't untie , the stopper knot is just a visual aid to feel more secure but it's not necessary .
Ya they are great knots, the stopper knot here is just to prevent the rope from becoming loose against the tree under no load, Works well with hardware as well, thanks for watching!
Alpine knot + fisherman's knot. Got it
Thank you so much. This help a lot. I will share with friends . From Malaysia
@asyraf6147 No worries, brotha! Thank you
That final sliding knot is genius. I'm tired of fighting my tree stand safety lines and now I won't have to.
Thanks man! Ya it works great 👍
Sweeeeeeeett...... love it bro.... - Patrick
Haha thanks Patrick, ill be over to watch your new vid soon! 🤟
@@PoplarMechanic hey man, did you invent that, tying the tail back to itself with a double fisherman's / scaffold knot? It's brilliant... I tried it today..... love it....
Yes I did thanks Patrick, feel free to share it, it work's great with hardwear so you don't have to worry about it comming loose under no load.
Personally I like just rope but others have found it useful for hardware.
Butterfly knot done on the working end of the rope! Nice!
Yes it works well even with hardware.

Awesome man glad it helped, thanks for watching 👊
Very nice method. I just learned how to tie a running alpine butterfly without using the three wrap over the hand method. Great job! Thanks
Ya it's a very good knot 👊

Awesome content for basal anchors. Thank you.
Appreciate that. Thanks for watching 🤙
What a creative idea, I can see how that would be an advantage.
I like this. Been using the running bowline but never liked it. Gonna try this out instead. That finish with the double fisherman is really clever
Thanks man appreciate that, that fisherman works good with hardware to like the quickie, holds it in place,
Thanks for info. I like it...
Really nice you explain it real good Thanks
Thanks for watching! 🤙
Glad you posted this Base Anchor! Cheers from the East Coast of Canada! Climb safe
No problem, I'm just glad its helping some people out 👊
Very well explained.

Lol awesome man! And yes the knot for added security is awesome 👊
Thank you
Great video. I bought a rope wrench so now I can start practicing SRT. Thanks for keeping it clear and concise.
No problem man, its a great anchor, just remember your weight on the limb is doubled with a base anchor, be safe! 🤟
Sweet video. I refer to this regularly for a refresher. Thanks for going info detail.
Hey man not a problem, I love that base tie, It works good with hardware to when it's more likely to come loose.
awesome thanks for sharing
Very cool way to do it. Thanks for the tips...
that is a pretty awesome base anchor i shared it with a couple friends and they are starting to use that idea thank you for sharing
Hey no problem, it works really good, I use it all the time, glad it helped, climb safe man!
Excellent. I often use an alpine butterfly with a quickie. I like the secondary knot to hold the knot in place. Were you referencing Richard Mumford? He is a genius. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I got the alpine method from Richard, I invented the fisherman to cinch on the knot

@tholi10 No worries, man! I'm glad it helped. It works really well 👍
I've never been a big fan of the running bowline (even with the Yosemite finish) on basal anchors. Definitely gonna give this a go tomorrow. 🤙
Ya it works really good with hardware to like a quickie, so it doesnt fall under no load. But I prefer rope on rope myself. 👊
Nice, thanks
beauty. Alpine butterfly is the best.

Yes it works slick and is very secure.
Nice job, I like the second synching knot, that's a great idea on some trees.
Yes its peace of mind as well. It always stays in place.
Is that woodpecker rope if so how is it been wanting to try it?????
A running alpine butterfly. Never seen that before.
Its a good one, I use it all the time for base anchors
Love it, stay safe and God bless.

nice one

can you do a video on poplar climbing safety in terms of the dangers specific to poplars? rot, weak limbs, etc...

Uh yeah Justin you kinda missed the point of the scaffold knot lol
I just use a running bowline with a stopper knot.
That works too
👍👍👍
What kind f rope is that Whatts the name
I can't remember, lol. It's an old line. I'm thinking poison ivy but not 100%
Butterfly can't work itself undone. Slide MMB aybe buy not undone
Thank you
