@@keshia001958 Hi. I apologize my long delay. I just get overwhelmed by the schedules. Anyway, I've never been to Ghana but always loved the country. I'm originally from Moz.
It's called code switching. You hear it most often with West Indians and Africans when they're at school/work vs with their family/friends. The funniest ones are when you hear them answer the phone all proper but switch immediately when they realize that it's a family/friend that they're speaking with.
It could just be that his American accent is hard to understand outside of America. Hardly a code switch. He wasn’t trying to sound Ghanaian. When someone speaks English with an Jamaican accent to an American, it is sometimes hard to understand. Yall reaching lol

Beautiful video! Ghana is GORGEOUS! I nearly fell out of my chair when you mentioned the avocado as a pear. That's exactly what Jamaicans/African descendents call it.
Yep. Same here in Barbados. And we call papayas "pawpaws". Interestingly enough, there is a fruit in the US called the pawpaw that's totally different. Also, there's a type of banana we call "figs".
You are right that at present we have slaves. I recognize the same slave system everywhere, on every continent. Some do come from Ghana, some Europe, some Asia, everywhere and no matter where they run from, they run into the same system. Apparently Moses tried to escape it too. It is true that Jamaica does have the spiritual traditions you say.
Exactly I'm 100% Ghanaian from one of the akan tribe called bono ahafo but you know we have different akan tribes in Ghana and we are the largest tribe the Asanti,Bono,akuapem,fanti,d3nkyera,and the akyim. Back to what I was saying my granny used to tell me we have half of the akan tribe outside Ghana which is Jamaicans so we are of the same root and tribe even our traditional dressing seems alike the "kente" so are always welcome home Love you all my brothers and sisters from the other side of the world
OMG!! Ghana reminds me so much of my country Jamaica...well, it all make sence given that our ancestors are predominantly from Ghana & Nigeria to be specific...much love from Jamaica to the motherland... ❤ 🇯🇲🙂
When you live in Ghana, many parts of Nigeria and some west African countries one thing you will realize is that you won't have to worry about active shooter situations. You will be at peace. You will walk like a truly free person. The only thing I pray for is large opportunities like the European countries have. Ppl will come to you and truly ask about your well being. People will share food during Xmas and other festive seasons.
Let live Life You should’ve reminded Ladybone Bone about the KU klux Klan & all the police, politicians, judges, landlords, who are members of that racist group in America.
This is so interesting. I moved to South America from the US and see many similar things like the lower cost of living, water and propane tanks, using voltage converters, and the chill lifestyle. You mention the difference of having income in dollars vs. local currency, and I wanted to share a job tip. For native English speakers, it's pretty easy to get a job teaching English online (no teaching certification required), and you get paid in US dollars! People around the world need to learn English for business, so there are always new students. It's a good way to work from home and get paid in dollars. You need good internet connection and the ability to withdraw money from your account in the US.
Yeah I live in South America for six yesrs and I can't count the of people that have asked me to teach them English. Almost got a job working for the military but I needed certificate for that.

I don't know why but I just started crying at the thought of going home. Wondering if this is where I am from. Not feeling like I belong in the US. It's not easy to leave behind all the negative info I have had in my life about Africa. Now I see someone who is not only living but thriving.
Read about the continent and the people and do not let false images guide your thinking. As a child born in the early 60's the vibe around my environment was pro Africa . Our family left the south in 69. We moved to Detroit where my older siblings shared with the younger ones culture. And believe it or not my parents were very open they were in there early 40's. We were like one of a group of families, that were founding families in a community center that was Afrocentric. Ghana isn't perfect and nor is any place on this earth perfect. However, when we touched down and came out into the warm air. The party of people waiting for us along with others waiting for their family and friends all said at some point Welcome Home.I tell you with everything in me even before I heard these greetings I felt Home. I know America is the land of my birth and it is home. But the welcome home spoke to me even from the land. The negative vibe we feel in the states as the result of being the descendants of Africans was absent. I always felt warm and everyone around me looked like me. I was mistaken for being native borne Ghanaian many times. You will love it if your mind is transformed before you make your pilgrimage. I had the fortune of being prepared every since I was a yout...Lol BlessUp Sis and enjoy every minute of your trip. You probably will start thinking how can I live here....!
I am from Barbados in the Caribbean and i love watching African movies every day. From the documentary on Ghana makes me want to visit and i would eat lots of fruits and vegetables, especially mangoes, tomatoes, watermelons, avocados, and oranges
That “weird thing” that looked like a green lizard is called Corilla or Serasi. It is a POTENT hepatic food. You only cook a bit of it, maybe steam it- but don’t stew it with other foods as it is extremely bitter! It is a purging food. In Jamaica we drink the herb once a year as part of our annual “wash out”. Kids would disappear when that time came. 😂
I think about Africa every day I know one day I will go I am Jamaican so I know a lot of the things over the mother land. We have the same thing in Jamaica
Interesting. I had visited Jamaica a few years before going to Cameroon for 6 months (back in the 1970's). I arrived in Cameroon at night. When I woke up the next morning, I looked outside, saw some people walking carrying loads atop their heads, and it looked and felt just like Jamaica!
Remember slaves were sold everywhere. Born in Barbados, Jamaica, Brazil, Haiti etc. your ancestors were slaves on the slave ships coming to America sold everywhere. Advice to those who want to go live in Africa. If you have a home. Please, and I say please do not sell it. Rent it out and get back up money. If things do not work out, you can come to your home. Do your homework. Keep up the good work.
well, i guess , because Africa is the craddle, but remember the Caribbean is what i am familiar with, and its natural to say "that just like me" more than the other way around.
You do a very good job explaining the reality of life in an African country. I just wanted to add that when you go to the market it’s good to bargain your prices. You save more bargaining rather than accepting the initial price. If they know you are foreign , they’ll always try to increase the prices too.

Yes round everyone up and go. MAGFO
The accent he uses when dealing with the market people is very interesting.

No wonder why they say Jamaicans are from Ghana. We share so much in common as peoples. This is truly one Earth.

What is the website name?
How do you register to be teach online,i studied english at the university and i speak it well too
WOW!! WHERE DO I SIGN UP!! ❤
Yea where /how do you take advantage of this opportunity??.
Yeah I live in South America for six yesrs and I can't count the of people that have asked me to teach them English. Almost got a job working for the military but I needed certificate for that.

We all need to know our roots and ancestors.
Also looks like its hard to be fat because of how much fresh food there is and how cheap
No NGO's! haha Black Americans can get a taste of paradise, the way white Americans WISHED they could have it..
That’s why when you are fat in Ghana, you are considered to be living a good life 😂😂😂
I’m fat. I go to Senegal every summer. I usually lose around 50lbs without trying. The diet of fresh meat and vegetables does it.
Douglas Thomas - I just arrived in Accra on Friday (Jan. 11) and will be here for two weeks. How many pounds do you think I can lose?

Interesting. I had visited Jamaica a few years before going to Cameroon for 6 months (back in the 1970's). I arrived in Cameroon at night. When I woke up the next morning, I looked outside, saw some people walking carrying loads atop their heads, and it looked and felt just like Jamaica!
