    Money: coming from the US, you might be used to get groceries at supermarkets and eat a lot of ready made food. This will turn out very expensive in any other country! So number one lesson must be learn to cook with fresh ingredients... Adapt to the local food and buy your groceries where the locals buy them.

      Had a friend move to Costa Rica and she said there was one brand of everything (one brand ketchup, one brand bread, etc.) and healthcare is like you get a shot for everything and that's it. Just a shot that may or may not work and send you on your way. So there's that too.

    • @makanaki513
      @makanaki513 4 роки тому +2

      A good number of African countries have food VERY CHEAP and highly available... n there is a lot of freedom to grow your things. Just learn the local lingo accurately and eliminate the accent d'americano, that twenging makes the grocery prices double in a second.

    • @makanaki513
      @makanaki513 4 роки тому +2

      @Erich Weiler still doesn't change the Fact that food in Africa is surprisingly cheaper, richer, less likely carsinogenic, has minimal control by governing bodies (which ironically leaves people with a wonderfully array of food choices and an ability to grow their own food n keep their own chikens even in the surburbs). Corruption is another thing. Fun fact, did you know that if Africa and South America decided to not export any of their fruits n raw material 1st world countries would slowly but surely get malnutritioned? The wealth of African soil is the gift that keeps the world spinning. Otherwise, why would Africa be so invaded? I have a theory that corruption is a colonially caused issue since all european countries that had colonies still havent let go of control over the territories they created that we now have to call countries

    You can send yourself money once you have arrived. I'm based in Canada, I travel to Zimbabwe. So once I arrive I access my online banking app, send money to myself via World remit and the cash pickup is a breeze. Safer, better, I can monitor my cash flow etc. I used to send money to someone but realized that sometimes by the time I need more cash the person is not available. No need to inconvenience pple.

    About the shipping. If you ship a container ahead of you once you touch down at kotoka complete a customs form and let them know you are expecting a container so once the container gets here you will get a much cheaper customs fees as they are personal effects. You must complete the form on arrival or it is invalid. Oh and I think this applies to ghana nationals but confirm.
