      Hi,
      First of all you deserve thanks for not making cringy content like other "fintess influencers". Respect for that .
      some suggestions :
      Where are pounds add next to it killos everywhere it will warm the hearths of your international fans (those who cant count it 🙂), also possible to take inspiration from the fitness apps where they show graphs and percenteges, at the end show complete stats from workout maybe some comparisions to your other workouts, RPs, rest time, time during each set. I belive most of it can be edited in afterwards so you dont have to keep in mind everything during training.
      Thank you

    Looking good Mitchell. Your approach to minimize the danger for injuries, seems really good to me. But I must say that I have never seen a Worlds Strongest Man looking as normal as you. how do you have that level of strength in a body so comparatively small? I mean. You aren't small, but compared to most Strongmen you are a lightweighter. And still you won the title. That is just really impressive.

    I think the most volume I ever put into a single workout was during my hypertrophy phase where I was also focusing on squat strength. I liked to use myorep leg press for it, and I took a day where I did 5 sets at 600ish pounds, 12-20 reps a set.
    I, uh, didn't walk out of the gym.

    • @unclemoneymoneyuncle8702
      @unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 6 місяців тому

      higher rep leg press is no joke, I usually am going heavy on all my lifts for 5 or less reps, so bumping that up into the above 10 range induces burn I'm not normally accustomed to, high rep squat, leg press, hack squat days means legs won't be so functional for a bit in the day(s) to follow.... but if I hit low reps with heavier weight I'm walking about just fine (minus some right patellar tendonitis which prevents me from going to heavy on my top sets especially on squats/legpress), that's when I started experimenting around with less weight for more reps and that's a different world of pain for me but at least muscularly instead of joints.

    I noticed your upper back getting looser the more weight you added on the rack pulls. Is that something you care about, or at that point does it matter more just to get the weight up? Thanks for the videos. Great work and I hope things continue to go well.

    • @sbdftw1702
      @sbdftw1702 5 місяців тому

      Upper back getting looser yields little to no risk. That’s also what happens when you’re near or at RPE 10. Lower back is a different story but the rack pull itself and him wearing that belt make that a non issue.

      He has mentioned he wants to do hypertrophy to increase the size of his arms/upperbody in an effort to continue to get stronger. I’d imagine bicep strength in the neutral grip would help with cleaning the log and loading events.

    • @alexschutz7283
      @alexschutz7283 6 місяців тому +1

      Bill Kazmair used to do tons of them. They're great for the grip, and as a way to stabilize the upper arm. Strongman do tons of overhead events and the biceps in general have to be strong enough to stabilize the force that the triceps put out. PLUS all of the torn biceps you see on stones and deadlift events- make them stronger so that they can keep up with the demands that are being put on the body. You see an isolation movement, they see that there's few events in Strongman that don't require EVERYTHING IN THE WHOLE BODY being strong. It's the same as the huge emphasis that powerlifters put on rear delts to boost their bench and keep the shoulders healthy

    I'd always found volume to be easier to accomplish than all out high intensity single sets, especially on a repeated basis. When I was training with higher volume I did not rely on placing ALL my energy into a single set, which was mentally less exhaustive. Lower volume at a higher intensity, which is NOT ideal for strength gains, is much more mentally challenging. For example, a maximal one rep set takes more out of a person than taking the weight back and performing multiple sets, think Eddie Hall's 500kg deadlift.

      @@JauntyWhale That's a bold claim without knowing my goals and recoverability. There is no such thing as "junk volume" (there is no evidence to support that more volume does not induce more growth within what you personally can recover from. 52 sets per week per body part has been tested, and not limit has been found yet) when every set is done to a sufficient degree of intensity, and it very much depends on your goal AND how your individual ability to recover is. My programme is tailored to my goals and needs, and I've never seen progress like I'm doing right now.

    • @QueenToKingOfSpades

      5 sets of hack squats (12 reps)

      5 sets of leg extensions (14 reps)
      5 sets of leg curls (12 reps)
      5 sets of standing calf raises (10 reps)

    Not bad. On dedicated leg days, I can easily do close to 750,000lbs. Leg adductors: 305lbs * 20 sets x 50 reps = 305,000 lbs. Leg press and calf extensions: 500lbs * 20 sets * 20 reps = 200,000 lbs. Leg press: 1000lbs * 10 sets * 10 reps = 100,000 lbs. Leg extension: 300lbs * 10 sets * 15 reps = 45,000 lbs. Leg abductors: 305lbs * 20 sets * 15 reps = 90,000lbs. The only problem is it takes a few hours to get through this workout. But gotta do it to regain my previous strength after not lifting during Covid.
