Let's see where prime Hooper gets to. Overall well rounded guy for a light weight even though I think Eddie better at the log, max weight for sure. On the shawstrength podcast he mentioned he didn't even have strongman equipment to train with until later on so it was mainly commercial gym. STATICALLY strongest strongman. Zydrunas could give him a run overall. Deadlift Took Hafthor 4 years later when Eddie already retired. Eddie, Benny, and Hafthor best deadlifters peak wise. I'd be curious to know how well Brian and Zydrunas could have done if they stopped chasing the Titles between the two and focused mainly on the records.

Eddie almost got the 230 log press, what pooper hooper is doing here is comparing 2015 Eddie hall which we all know isn't his prime, also Eddie is a static monster no point in comparing reps.
That being said we probably haven't seen prime Hooper, maybe he can get better or maybe he's hit his peak already, time will tell. Best of luck to him.

The thing with the log is, Eddie was injured and he intended to still go for the 230kg. But he lost balance twice. He got it up the second time but it still didn't count. It's truly unfortunate.
I think with current WSM Events you would easily win against prime Eddie. When we take competitions like the Shaw Classic however... I think he would have eaten you as a sidesnack for dinner. In fact, I think with proper preparation he would still smoke 99% of the competitors in that event.

Some strongmen have talked about «breakthroughs» when it comes to PEDs. Not only the substances they take and how to balance it all, but also the amount. Going back a couple of years most of the guys were on insane doses of steroids and other stuff. Now they take about 20% of that amount but keep the same strength. So their bodies can handle more.
It’s always silly to compare between different times/eras. Across every sport there’s been steady improvement over many, many decades. Probably even more so in sports where PEDs are actively being used. People have been saying that Usain Bolt’s world records will stand for decades, but there’s already 20-22 year olds extremely close to taking the records, long before their prime. Nutrition is a big factor.
Perhaps the most interesting factor is the mental factor. After Eddie broke the 500 kg barrier and showed the world it’s possible, everyone’s DL went up quite a lot. Funny how that works.

The thing with the log is if you look at Eddie's best lifts overhead including the world records, he almost never struggled (think Bibby barely beating his axle press record with a massive fight while Eddie easily strict pressed his). 2016-17 Eddie would take almost anyone in any max overhead event. My thoughts are if there is a squat, a deadlift, an OHP variant, Eddie wins those events, but I do agree that over the course of the average competition, Hooper beats Eddie 8 times out of 10.

@@Lanephotography222 You can lean as far as you want, if you don't use leg drive then it's a strict press.
I've heard this a lot about Biby's axle press and it's just not true. Watch the video, he takes one step back to control it then pauses for a second while he gets the down signal. He then takes one more step while dropping it but this is irrelevant as he has already got the lift.
The video does not show the ref so I can see how it could be misleading, but the down signal is at that point. I was actually at that competition. I sat in the 3rd row and it was a good lift.

I know that in a comp you only do a specific number, and the events themselves sometimes favor one person over another, but if you just look across the board at all events that you have a commonality with Eddie, then you will have a much clearer picture of how you two compare. Mitch huge fan! But ain't no way you're beating prime Eddie in Log. The speed of his 213kg log while he had a injury was crazy fast. Also he didn't want to jump to 230kg on the log after the 213kg but Bibby insisted and they missed the 230kg but I think Eddie could've easily done at least 222kg. Don't think we've seen his full potential on dumbell as well. I think any competition with a form of overhead press, squat & DL it would be tough to beat prime Eddie. You definitely got him on moving events tho.
