On ya mate, this just popped up in my recommended and preview watched it for a minute thinking I wouldn’t watch but I’m 21 and what you were saying was super relatable. I wish you all the best
Thanks heaps mate! I would love to go back to 21; whatever you’re doing, do it well, and good things will come to you. Prioritise your happiness but don’t look too closely at the future that you forego the present. All the best mate
Mate, that´s the only way! I just left Europe after so many years. I'm now in Brazil, which is awesome, and I´ll be spending the summer in Buenos Aires (my home city). Keep following your dreams
The shot at 1:59 speaks *volumes*. Given the world by Mum and Dad, the best shot you can have at a dream that people die for on a boat in the middle of the cold, dark ocean just to have a sniff at. I wont watch any of your copy + paste travel vlogs, why would I? Young _man_ flies first class, to third world country, to make a 6000 second video. Hope Dad gets you a window seat mate! If you look hard enough you might be able to see some of the boats when you're en route to land!
I relate hard to this, am about to finish an apprenticeship in steel fab, I know that as soon as I’m finished I’m leaving and never going back to having a “real” job
I wish you well. A few observations: 1 Few people can spend 6 years studying and incur the debt (although it may have been paid for you in your case) only to toss it away. That will look horrid on a resume. 2 Based on that house and car, your family is extremely well off (and is likely subsiding you). The regular Joe has no chance of doing what you are doing. I would be interested to know what your budget for the journey is and who is funding it. If you are not paying for all of it yourself, you should disclose that.
I dont think even once in this video did I hear old mate try to give anyone advice in life or with work.. just talked about how much its effected his own life and happiness. So why do you feel the need to compare this guys vlog and decisions to the everyday person like yourself? This video is a vlog about his life .. not a tutorial on how to quit your job quick and have a stable lifestyle simultaneously. "The regular joe has no chance of doing what you are doing" ... your almost trying to make him feel guilty for being more fortunate than others when all he did was vlog his decision to quit his job and be a happier person, never once mentioned that others should do it or be capable of it like you insinuate. Plus your attitude of the average joe cant do what hes doing is such a bullshit cop out and shows your mentality in life.. sure some families are less fortunate than others but theres also people who literally go from jobless and homeless to having a 9-5 and a roof over there head. Your comment is just so eughh tbh. Also why should he disclose how his holiday is funded? so you can clown on him if any of it is paid by parents/family? ngl you just sound extremely jealous and upset that people have the opportunity to do what he's doing .. self funded or not and you don't lmao
Sounds like a lot of your own fears mark. "only to toss it away" Most people don't have the guts to quit and will keep wasting years on something they hate because the sunk cost fallacy will trap them there. "That will look horrid on a resume".. Oh no, some corporate drone, locked in an office, whose job it is to police the system you're escaping from might think it looks bad.. You're missing the point, Mark. Who cares what the prisoners think when you're the only one who has the guts to escape. "what your budget for the journey is and who is funding it" ... "if you not paying".. "you should disclose that." He doesn’t need to do anything for anyone. You're obviously just fishing for excuses to feel better about not having taken your own risks.
It's a huge lie we tell young people that they need to earn lots of money in order to be happy. People waste the most precious years of their lives working crappy jobs they hate so they can get a bigger house and nicer car. But do we need an high pay high status job to be happy? Well, if we did, surely the lawyers and surgeons and bankers around us would have big families and report high levels of happiness and satisfaction. But they don't. Often they have only one or two kids, whose lives they are mostly absent from. And sure, they may have nicer houses and cars and private school, but they don't report being happier from all those things. In fact, talk to anyone whose retired from such a career and a common regret is spending too much time at work. Of course, some people do get great personal satisfaction from their careers, but they are the minority. We work in order to live, not live in order to work. In the end, life is about expectations. If you believe you need to own a big house in a big city and have lots of money, then you won't be happy without those things. But if you choose to focus on the important things in life: love, family, kids, God, etc. you will find bountiful happiness.
Yes brother! Can't wait to follow along.
