Oh you mean like how with the Barbarian Culture, I did a whole first game ever where I thought the Rite of Alacrity was some kind of passive for just standing in the center of your town for a turn. Turns out you have to go to settings for your own town to access it, and on your outposts it's similar. Oh and Barb Scouts can make outposts, which is wholly unique to the Barb Culture, nobody else can do it. So you can easily just run around with armies of t1-2 units and build outposts in the early game claiming all the uniqe resources, plop them next to wonders with the Wonder Builds Materium Culture Trait and you can just claim a bunch of the wonders super quick.
I’m assuming when you capture a province you add 1 population to your city. (Could be wrong idk) But the pop cap for a city is 30 so this probably wouldn’t work.
So another mind control spell to look out for is Arcane bond in T3 Summoning Tome. 90% chance to Mind Control Magic Origin units. Since many of the more powerful units in your enemies armies are going to be Magic Origin, this is a great spell for dealing damage and controlling battle flow. Kind of hard to stick to a set strategy when having to fight the strongest units in their own army. A Wizard King with astral affinity can have this spell cast 3 times by their second turn, wreaking havoc on the enemy while using their own army to exploit the chaos.
City stability from whispering stones is actually 2 per turn. I think the special resource that gives your whispering stones +1 allegiance with free cities is the one that makes it into +3 per turn.
Tbh the +20 gold from raze a city is overrated. You have to spend multiple turns to get it while developing a normal city can generate around 150 gold per turn(and also other resources, like knowledge, which I think is most important resource and help you snowballing). You may also have to suffer from the over city limit penalty if you do this when you reach the city limit. Not to mention money is the least valuable resource in the game as it requires production to transfer it into value (ie building and units). I think it only works if you combine it with the trait that also provides resources when razed a city.
I still prefer Age of Wonders Shadow Magic... It was definitely the best ! Anyway, that's a lot of military advice there, you can also win with diplomacy, buildings, magic... in which case, you might not want to optimise your nation to be the most OP. About tomes, mix and match is almost mandatory because going full lightning wizard master is going to get you killed as soon as you meet anything against magic.
great video man. ive been watching you play the forest and i recently got into AOW4 and i was happy to see a video from you. this is actually the most informative tips video i have seen on this game. thanks a lot for your videos. you create really great and informative content.
And about OP of Spoil pf Destruction: there's Pantheon race perk - Chousen Destroyers (+40 Gold, +20 Mana, +20 Knowlage from Razing the cities), think it's OP too? And, as I've already wrote, in Nature Affinity - Wild Expantion - works every time you give Provinces between your cities or camps!)
Chosen destroyers is good... but it's not as good as vassal builds. 1 vassal of maximum tier is usually 1.5 times as good as the bonus of razing a city as Chosen destroyers. And that's without any buffs you might get to vassal income.
@@lite4998 yea, you see - vassals could be defeated or captured, but Destroyers buff is permanent - and, fan fact, you could raze the city, leave it for ai take it back and do it again, and this thing stacks
@@alexvoskresenskiy7961 EDIT: No sorry I got mixed up with the chaos tree buff and Chosen Destroyers, so I removed my first point. As for vassals - if you have even a few you can rally of the lieges for several stacks into whichever vassal city is being threatened. And again this is without specializing for getting more out of rally of the lieges. So Chosen Destroyers is actually good and a fun time generally, but unless you cheese you can't get as much out of it as going vassal builds in terms of manpower or resources. By turn 60 if you raze 3 cities as Chosen Destroyers you get +60 research, +120 gold. If by turn 60 you have 3 powerful supreme vassals you have about +120 research and +240 gold and mana from them. And it is much easier to get vassals than to raze cities generally. So you usually end up with double or triple the amount of vassals than cities razed. However if you ARE going to raze cities the only situation where that is actually viable is when you have Chosen Destroyers. In literally every other situation it's a waste.
@@lite4998 to be honest if you choise choosen destroyer and you get only 3 city raze by 60, you are doing something wrong. You get easimy around 10 city destroyed by turn 50 and that's how you should play it if you want to play it well of course. It gives bonus way before any free city wpuld give you.
most cheeziest bug/system abuse in AGE OF WONDERS4 MUST TRY 4 FUN 1. first get big on order and little on shadow on the civ creation 2. in empire development 1st rush KNOWLEDGE EXTRACTION in shadow next 3. create outpost then vassalize it and declare war and fight them, level your heroes and get 150 knowledge per turn (when your hero gets to a certain level they become level 5 hence it will become 250 knowledge) every turn 4. do it again and again (sell corpse and buy more heroes) while rushing tomes of order till you get BENEVOLENT CONQUERORS (-1 turn vassalization) and go for shadow tomes next 5. at this stage while stationed near 1 by 1 you send one of your units who has movement left to fight them (make sure army is near) then vassalize then fight them again n again, this effectively becomes a multi-battle in 1 turn 6. Next is grabbing STOLEN POWER in shadow dev which gives you additional 200knowledge and 200mana to conquered settlements (vassalize is considered conquered) 7. SPOILS OF DESTRUCTION is optional if you want to build a gigantic army, combined with the building that grants mana for every heroes in crypt (forgot the name) and as soon as you get your 5-7 heroes you can go for domination or do the other objectives and ignore the former PROFIT: EASY WIN AND EASY LEVEL UP
Also just to clarify, there are no actual ship "units" all it does is unlock movement over water (already mentioned), it just changes the model of units if they cannot fly hence the "ship" model. Was also confused when i first started.
nice tips, but wouldnt do that with build raise city. Imperium is important and can generate more if utilized into something else. But enemies settle quite often so just destroy everything at youre border...wait a few tunrns and do it again
Hey there! I've been having some trouble running Age of Wonders 4 on my computer. It seems to be struggling with performance issues and lag. I'm a big fan of your channel and was wondering if you could do a video showcasing how the game performs on Boosteroid. It would be really helpful to see if Boosteroid can provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience for this game. Thanks a lot, and keep up the great work!
excavating. Something that isn't explained at all. I thought it just meant that I could settle underground or use improvements underground. Did not know that it just gives every single unit a tiny dig tool on their unit actions. started a game as underground necromancers and realized that you can dig through the underground to uncover ALL kinds of different things and pathways. and it only takes one turn. so you can just send out all your scouts or in the late game send out your tier 1 units to quickly dig through the underground. Very useful. Not explained at all.

Brand new play with a quick question. If I have a city pretty built up, the only places left to annex are fisheries on the very outside. Is there any reason to build those just for more food? I'm not really looking for more population, at least I don't think so unless you should always continues to grow a city until you cap population? Thanks in advance
The guild for fisheries actually makes them really good tiles. So if you do want to infinitely expand your cities, that is an option. I tend to play very small cities cycling provinces as needed for prerequisites and boosts. I fill out my permanent provinces with special provinces only as they are usually worth at least 3 normal provinces and still only use -5 morale. There are all sorts of benefits to high morale cities: Convent is epic and there are some spells that cost -10 morale but essentially provide 8 standard provinces worth of output for 6 mana/turn. Using these techniques you can outpace brutal AI on economy by turn 15 at the latest. The econ game is as breakable as everything else, it's great :D Have fun!
