  • After 6 weeks of working hard through blizzards, rain, and everything in between, Zeda and I finally took some time off and decided to head southbound towards Yellowstone National Park. But first, we took a couple days to cook some Carnitas for the next several days. It was my first attempt at slow cooking with my cast iron and it turned out great!
    We also went for a quick drive up Tom Miner Basin, encountering several herds of elk and a light snow storm in my Can Am Defender 6x6.

    Shoots now I gotta do a vid on how I spice up my foot long PJ sandwiches with pickles, relish and sardines...lol...my only cookware is a big dull knife, two spoons, one fork and a skillet that is also the dish...you can tell I'm no Ramsey Gordon chef...I cut the cooking smoke way down by removing the small fan outside vent replacing it with a big spin dryer vent...easy fix.

    • @downbytheriver501
      @downbytheriver501  2 роки тому

      🤣. Well whatever you’re doing it’s working well cause you definitely look a lot younger than 81. The smoke situation I always found the overhead fan soaks up about 15% of the smoke. Plus, just unlatching the damn thing on the outside of the camper means I’d have to carry around a step stool or pull my UTV up to it just to access it. Ughh

      @@downbytheriver501 the first day I bought my NL camper I cooked bacon & eggs and the smoke doctor went off, I instantly removed and tossed the batterie from that loud POS, months later after many cooking WTF? profanity smoke outs I come to find out as I was installing that bigger volume dryer outlet flapper unit the F'ing fan blade was shoved on the shaft backwards !!! (check your's)
      If you ever find out how to clean the fuzzy marine ceiling headliner please let me know.
      Another thing I pitched out early on were the useless dirt collecting show room rugs, the one under the dinette table and step up into the bed, they used over a hundred 3/4" long staples to secure each rug, what a profanity hassle removing them, I replaced the rugs with 1/2" foam mats insulating my feet from the mornings cold floor, I cut off the connecting edges to make it easer to quickly remove and sweep out the ever incessant tracked in boondocking dirt, with a dog you know what I mean...LOL..

      @@gastonbelanger5346 man that’s crazy! The only thing that made me think “what the hell happened here?” With my camper was the drawer under the sink was misaligned about 1/2” from the 2 sliding drawers underneath it.
      That and that fricken generator box ALWAYS leaks.
      As far as the ceiling, your guess is as good as mine. I’m pretty sure rug doctor steam vacs don’t work inverted, so it is a complete mystery to me!
      And yes, I despise the carpeting. Mine is surprisingly good still after 2 hard years of use, but I always have rugs covering the areas that are used the most.
      Cheers!

      @@downbytheriver501 Generator box water leak fix > slit in half an 18" long section of 1" OD thin wall PVC tubing...45* trim back each end...lay down a "wide bead" of clear silicone sealant on the length of the halved tubing...place this now DIY "rain gutter" above the Gen box door...support it with tape until silicone sets up...next place 1/2 x 3/16 thick weather stripping behind door...leakage stopped.
      Note > 45* trimming the ends will keep the gutter from snagging brush or trees when taking your $45k camper where most won't dare off road go...~Take chances, go where no truck campers ever go, life's to short not too~ said the octogenarian.
