Loved my time there! Can’t wait to come back. I’ve got some more Hoosier content coming in the next few weeks.
@@TheHistoryUnderground Awesome, I’ll be watching for it!! 👍🏼
@@TheHistoryUnderground hope you had the opportunity to visit the Battle of Tippecanoe memorial and battle site in Battleground, iN.
Ernie Pyle's childhood is located in Dana, IN.

👍🏻
welcome to Indiana!!! LOVE your videos!
Thanks!
Wow!! So much history and that was only one museum.
Right?
The father of my 3rd cousin was a survivor of the USS Indianapolis tragedy. Seeing someone speak about it while visiting my hometown is pretty neat. I hope you enjoyed your trip here and got some Hoosier hospitality!
Wow , I now added this museum to my have to see places ! Thank you for sharing this moving video with me ! Looking forward to seeing more videos on history ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you maybe doing next ! Doing well here in Kansas .
Thanks! Be sure to plan plenty of time. There’s a lot there.
@@TheHistoryUnderground I sure will my stepmother lives there now after my dad died 5 years ago !
Wow, a lot of information. Am gonna need to watch again, great video/camera work. You be safe and take care. Great museum and it is FREE admission!
Appreciate that! And yes, the free part was nice.
Just binging your "older content" today.
I had my Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the Indiana War Memorial, that place is amazing.
I live in Louisville now but Indianapolis will always be a special place to me
I have lived in Indiana for 26 years! I have never known that that museum existed. I can’t wait to go! Thank you so much.
I love watching these. Great work.
👍🏻
One of the best episodes yet. 🙂❤️🇺🇸
Thanks!
@@TheHistoryUnderground your welcome
Another great museum tour! It looks like a great place to visit, not too far from my mid-Missouri home. Will definitely add to my must see list! Thanks for these outstanding videos!!
Thanks! Definitely worth visiting. And free!
Someone stole his MOH in 09
Apparently recovered the next day.
I really enjoyed watching this vlog and I couldn't help but to think of my late husband who would have loved to see this as well. It was him who got me into history in the first place and has *several* of the items you showed in his room. My parents live up near South Bend so the next time I head up that way, I will be sure to stop at the museum and think of my husband. Thank you for doing this vlog.
I think that you'll really enjoy it. Plan to spend more time there than I did though :)
There were two survivors of the Indianapolis at the American Legion I go to , past away now. One of them I got to know pretty well and he told me not in detail but what it was like after the ship sank.As a vet myself I thought I'd seen some things but I was wrong
I visited recently, and I heard that the families of the survivors have a yearly gathering, and this year, they've moved the location of that gathering so the last surviving vet of the Indianapolis doesn't have to travel.
I'm from Muncie Indiana which is named after Chief Munsee !! I love this history of my state . But I love the country of indiana I live out in the sticks and keeping it that way
growing up in indiana i went there many times with my young marines unit even got to do firewatch one day after an event, walking through there at night is an experience.
That would be cool.
I was born in Vincennes, Indiana. That is where Fort Sackville was located. There are many historical things to see there, including the George Rogers Clark memorial and the William Henry Harrison mansion.
Would love to hear and learn more about the Korean War. The so-called forgotten war is very interesting to me and also to hear about the WW2 Vets that also went to Korea.
As always, wonderful episode.
I can't imagine being a telegraph delivery boy during WW2. Imagine pedaling up to a house knowing that you are about to ruin someone's life.
Never thought about that.
Yes, Ernie Pyle is buried in Honolulu, in Punchbowl, cemetary of the Pacific.
I really like your series. Don't stop.
Thanks!
Another amazing video..looking forward to more videos
🙏🏼
As a kid and as an adult I visited this place scores of times. I also brought both my sons here. I loved the aircraft engines they had on the lowrr level.
I enjoy your show. I have see alot of things though the years. But you have showed me there is still a lot to see. Thanks
The date you filmed these videos would be nice to know. I’ve started at #1 and working my way through these great stories. Thanks for doing this for your subscribers.
This might have been in February if I remember right.
Never knew this place existed and I live in Indiana. Great job JD thank you
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. Because of your video, more people will visit.
I hope so!
We live in Indianapolis!!! Wish we could have met you! Love your channel, we watch your videos weekly with our kiddos🙂
Great to see parents teaching their kids how important history is. Knowing where you've been helps you to know where you're going. Or NOT going.
Thank you for sharing my Hoosier war museum and monument, I remember visiting there when I was in elementary school.
Thanks for a great tour of the memorial! A great job of editing! You do a great job in choosing highlights!
Thanks! I could’ve made a 3 hour video out of this one 😅
Really enjoyed this video. This proves that history should be preserved. We can learn so much just by visiting places like this. I'm really into anything regarding the American Revolutionary war.
My girlfriend works at Family Life Ministries. They interviewed one of the last survivors of the U.S.S Indianapolis. Very powerful interview.
Indiana has a lot of history here. I'm from Indy and live in Indy. I've seen places you couldn't dream of in the State.
There is a free museum in the base of the Soldiers & Sailors monument in Downtown Indy as well that’s pretty interesting. You can also climb up steps on the inside of it to reach an observing point at the top. Tight fit but cool to do once.
I’ll have to check that out on the next trip. Thanks!
@@TheHistoryUnderground the museum is unfortunately closed for remodeling due to the base slowly becoming uneven and flooding.
Thank you for this most awesome piece of history..
Thanks!
I spent a good 45 minutes in the Shrine Room alone, when I visited a few years back. The craftsmanship is awesome, the alter breathtaking and the symbolism as powerful as the acoustics. It’s clearly designed as a resonance chamber, it felt like a whisper could echo to the heavens.
What an impressive museum. The military collection is fantastic so well done. Thank you for the tour.
My two sons and I were in Indianapolis 2 years ago for the 500. We where down walked around the monument
Never new they had a war museum inside and I have lived in Indiana my whole life. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for your Time and Effort. It shed light in many Very Interesting Subjects.
CONGRATULATIONS. 🏆🎞📽🥇
Another great video. A wonderful museum with artifacts worth seeing. Thanks again.
Wow , I lived in Indy most of my life and never been in the War Memorial. Thank you for the tour. So awesome.
I can't say enough about your videos. The style of the videos, B-Roll shots and music transitions make all your videos very interesting to watch.
Wow another great video that was awesome thank you. What a great place hope I can get there some time soon. Love you videos thank you for all your hard work a dedication take care.
🙏🏼
Great job! Love the History videos. 👍🏽
👍🏻
Thank you for the entire tour of the War museum. My father was in WWII 1942to1944 south Pacific 2yrs 2mos and 2days. Army air core.
Both the dual cannon ball and grape shot look terrifying. Couldn't imagine being on the receiving end of those!
Pretty impressive museum. I did not expect to see so much cool stuff in an Indiana war museum. Good stuff. Although I am a bit disappointed they didn’t have anything honoring the polish allies in the the WWII section. But good stuff none the less. Always excited to see a new video upload, never a dull moment. 👍
Thanks! I'm really hoping to visit Poland at some point and really get into the Polish contribution to the war.
@@TheHistoryUnderground Poland has tons of war museums to go to. You’ll have tons of content to upload. I recommend visiting Gdańsk and westerplatte, where the first shots of the war were fired. You would have a lot of fun. I would recommend on reading up on their mid-evil history as well. Tons of cool old castles to visit.
I live in the Indy area and this is a great, no charge admission museum. It’s a hidden gem in our downtown.
Interesting video. Had no idea this was in Indiana. They sure have a lot of artifacts. Even Hitler' s bust is scary.🤯
Yeah, I was really impressed with everything that they had in there.
