Also we should not forget that Tuomas is very good at creating beautiful songs out of emotions, experiences and personal stories. In my opinion, girl in Eva song is Tarja. Let me explain why. Story of a little girl being bullied by her peers is story of Tarja Turunen's childhood. In her interviews she talked about this dark page of her life, which left indelible wounds in her soul. Tuomas and Tarja went to same school in small town of Kitee, while Tarja lived in village of Puhos, a few kilometers away from town, and had to get up early for school. Both Tarja and Tuomas studied with same music teacher named Plamen Dimov. Tarja was most capable among girls and could easily sing any song teacher suggested. Therefore, Plamen treated her in a special way, and she participated in all the musical performances at school. Other girls disliked her and she was constantly bullied. She even had to go to boxing to somehow defend herself from bullying. It turns out that very loving hearts (teachers) that made Tarja stand out among other students only made things worse for Tarja herself. I think this was happening in front of Tuomas' eyes, and he, as author, describes it in song (we can easily find a video of young Tarja and Tuomas performing on same school stage). I also think that this song was addressed to Tarja. As you know, it's very first single from album, and it was distributed for free on internet. It's hard to imagine how much money could have been made if this single had gone on sale, because at that time whole European music world was excited and waiting to see what band would sound like after loss of original vocalist. I think you understand how big labels feel about lost profits. All fans at that moment were anxiously waiting for what would happen after Tarja left band, because not many people knew about vocal abilities of new singer. Song choice for first single is also questionable. Amaranth or Bye Bye Beautiful would have been much better to show new singer Anette's voice to world. So why need to go to all this trouble? Secret here lies in the message of song itself, which could only be understood by someone to whom message was addressed personally. Maybe Tuomas wanted to show Tarja song, or maybe he wanted to apologize for earlier events. Besides, Tarja didn't even have to buy single (which she wouldn't do) to listen to song, she just had to download song at home via Internet, because Tarja was also curious about new singer in band. It is known that Tarja listened to song “Eva”. It may seem like nonsense to some people. But you realize that Holopainen's personal feelings about events related to Tarja run through whole album and are clearly expressed in title.
