I’m experimenting with some new lighting techniques in this video. They’re not 100% dialled in yet but I’ll get there eventually. I would love to know what you think?
Every piece of equipment it was like, "Well I'll never afford that" and then BAM! Pencil Sharpener. I literally laughed when I saw that. So funny. So smart.
You do excellent work. I appreciate you never ending attention to detail. I am 73 years old today and I admit I learn from you and I am proud to admit that. Thankyou.
This is next level amazing. Design, craftsmanship, techniques, materials, coloring, grain selection. All of it. And the cinematography is incredible. Why did i leave this in my watch later file for two weeks. This was inspirational. Very well done. -Ben
I think the ordinary wooden box is still a test of a craftman's skill. You need all the same skills you use to create your larger pieces. And the result? Something that is intriguing still. I love the styling reminiscent of Moderne, and the move away from the expected in the joinery. The draws with the dowels instead of dovetails - which would weaken the design theme. I love how that choice echoes the draw pulls, and their recess, and is carried through the whole piece. Repetition is legitimation of a theme, and your understanding of how to execute a design to communicate to the observer what you want is a delight. Bravo.
I love the way you keep your workshop so clean. Almost all your cutting and sanding machines have vacuum attachments on it. Must be a joy to start and end the day without having to clean up after yourself that much. And not to mention the health benefits of not inhaling the dust. The box is beautifully made. Awesome craftmanship👍
I'm starting on retirement, working part time only & buying more woodworking tools all the time. Your work is inspirational & I learn so much. I'll never have the tools you have but for me it's a hobby only, just takes longer to get done. Ton's of idea's from watching your stuff, thanks for posting.
I'm exactly like Robert Groves and who is walking the same pathway. I too am amazed at Nick's professionalism and skill set. Yes he does has some big $$ equipment (he is a Pro) but he also has much the same gear that we have already in our smaller wood shops. Although I have been wood working for several decades, I feel I have taken a quantum leap in my skill set recently thanks to Pro experts like Nick who are putting in so much at his expense into making these YT's for us to enjoy and learn from. I'm now 1 of Nick's Patreons - least I can do to support this work. I very much doubt that I will acquire the fabulous Artistic flare Nick has - it's hard to learn that, but we can sit back and appreciate/ enjoy this side of his craft.
As a lighting designer with 30 plus years experience I would say you are doing some nice lighting. If I may offer a suggestion, the lighting for the tablesaw is too frontal. Try bringing it in from the left side of camera highlighting the blade area more. Beautiful work and your shop is amazing. Cheers
TImeless and beautiful. Watching you work is helping me to learn to slow everything down in the shop. Be in the moment, work carefully and with a purpose.
You have given me new inspiration. While you build a box, you never limit yourself to the box. Thinking outside the box to build the box into something more than a box.
I rarely leave a comment. However, I have rarely seen anything as beautiful and wonderful that impresses me as this. My highest respect for such elaborate and ingenious handwork... The time and effort that goes into it too - hats off!!!
Really beautifull craftsmanship! Its so simple, but the "simple" details like the brass band around the top and bottom, and the brass pullbars really gives it such a luxury look!
First time watching and I had to subscribe. Your precision and tool skills are second to none. And that's coming from a high end bespoke joiner that's been doing this for 16 years! Even sealing the brass. Top work. Great filming too
Stunningly beautiful. Your wood shop would be stuff of dreams. I love how this piece doesn’t have complicated joinery. Your videos are top notch and I enjoy them very much (just wish there was more of them). Happy memorial day weekend
I have to say, I love the lighting. Hands down whatever you are working on is what this video is about. I love the different shades and shadows that you really see. I would illuminate with purpose. You have made me a permanent viewer.
I love the "feel" of your vids, very peaceful. You are a true craftsman and artist. Your designs are stunning, I love the thoughtfulness you put into each piece.
I watched this possibly two years ago and it has now fascinated me again. It has inspired a few boxes I’ve made but not to this level of detail. I’m leaning toward the next getting closer!;D
I really love the contrast with the dark walnut and copper inlay. I also am inspired by your shop and the tools you have acquired. Hopefully one day I can put in the work necessary to achieve something similar. Thanks for sharing the stunning art work!
I think your video quality is fantastic; and I love your shop. But it’s your workmanship and attention to detail that blows my mind. You are so young to be such a master of your craft. This watch box is absolutely gorgeous. Great job all the way around. Think,I will like and follow. Even a 58 year old with 30 years of making things can learn from you. I feel so inspired… think I’ll head out to my shop now. Thanks!
I can’t believe that’s someone built a 100% accurate project, with the same exact box imagine woofer inside and with the same wood and same patters sound bar 🔥
What a great job you did on the box, beautiful piece of furniture Nick! I've loved working on wood projects now for 45 year's and I wish I had a shop like yours. Keep putting out your videos and I'll keep watching them. By watching your videos it really gives me good idea's but truly helps me get better. 👍
The level of detail in your work is truly remarkable and inspiring. It motivates me to head to my workshop and engage in some creative endeavors, though I must admit that my creations will likely fall short of the exceptional standard you have set.
Nick will make give up even before I start to make some furniture. This is just unbelievable! Design, Detail, Perfection and Love!! So beautiful and eye-catching!
WoW! You have a gigantic workshop, and all, if not most, of woodworking power tools available in the market. Is this what you do for a living or just a hobby? Love your work here.
I am absolutely addicted to this content! I’ve been looking for quality woodworking videos for a long time and finally it’s arrived! Absolute masterpieces.
I want one and I want to make one. I also only have one watch. Absolutely beautiful piece. Lighting and editing were awesome. Looking forward to more videos.
As a professional video producer and amateur woodworker, I love the amount of craft you put into both. Most videos on UA-cam are overlit with "stadium lighting". Yours is much more restrained. The light isn't wasted on the background walls. However, a 3/4 backlight opposite the keylight would provide an edge, and go a long way to separating you and your work from the background. I think that would answer the negative comments that it was too dark or hard to see quite well. Overall, the shooting is excellent, and I love that you don't waste our time with lame jokes and smash cuts to irrelevent stock footage.
Beautiful design very skillfully completed. Great use of metal and timber. If you hadn’t have posted about different lighting, then I would not have noticed. Even now, I couldn’t tell you what is changed but, whatever, your videos are always well presented. I look for great woodworking rather than great camera work but, when you get both, it’s even more enjoyable.
From one Nick to another, I prefer this style of video. I've been watching your videos for years and, in my mind, you were an artist who uses wood as your medium. The new commentary style brings a level of human fallibility, but there are enough makers who provide that style of imperfect appeal (I'm sure we all follow that same channels). In my mind, I had you elevated with the channels like New Yorkshire Workshop, This is My Alaska, and Doucette and Wolfe. Btw, I'm using this particular video as a template for a jewelry box build right now!
If you are not a woodworker, you may not know, that putting 3 dowels in rather than 2 is sooooo much riskier and such a higher level of craftsmanship. If any one of them is out by half a mm its so easy to see. And he drilled them on a press by hand... Its small details like that, that I love. This box is amazing.
Excellent video. I like the copper accents. Also the round cylinder you put into a jig and used the planer … nice. The block plane to finish off the corners is a nice touch
Just discovered your channel amongst the numerous others out there. What sets it apart is the design of the pieces. Very unique and individual. Inspiring stuff.
I’m experimenting with some new lighting techniques in this video. They’re not 100% dialled in yet but I’ll get there eventually. I would love to know what you think?
feels perfect to me.
The lighting is much better
Maybe don’t wear all black? Occasionally looks like two disembodied arms pushing material through machines.
Amazing ! Especially the final part when we see your realisation !
it's really good! do you get these looks only through the different lighting while filming or also with color correction afterwards?
I love watching these craftsmen. Even if you don’t have the machines you can still learn so much.
FINALLY! Someone on UA-cam who knows how to correctly use a sliding table saw!!!
that drawer handle design is spectacular!
Pencil sharpener for the dowel tapers.. BRILLIANT! You just taught me something.
Every piece of equipment it was like, "Well I'll never afford that" and then BAM! Pencil Sharpener. I literally laughed when I saw that. So funny. So smart.
Incredible the number of techniques I learned! That's the beauty of UA-cam, every one could have the best teachers. Thank you for sharing your skills.
Awesome! Thank you for watching
You Sir are like a fine wine to watch. I respect your craftmanship so greatly. Thank you for sharing with us mere normal woodworkers.
You do excellent work. I appreciate you never ending attention to detail. I am 73 years old today and I admit I learn from you and I am proud to admit that. Thankyou.
This is absolutely one of the most high speed craftsmanship I have seen. Brilliant!!!
Thank you
This is next level amazing.
Design, craftsmanship, techniques, materials, coloring, grain selection. All of it. And the cinematography is incredible.
Why did i leave this in my watch later file for two weeks. This was inspirational. Very well done.

Well said
I can feel you're connected with your work piece every time you work . It's only the reason brings your products a gorgeous look.
Thank so much

These videos have lowered my blood pressure back to normal levels 😊
I just binge watched all of your videos and now I’m bummed that there aren’t any more. You do incredible work, sir!

Seriously beautiful work and video man.
Thanks Blake!

Thanks for the helpful advice

Simple elegance at it's finest.
Lighting looked spot on to me.
Thank you
It’s not even funny how good you are, Nick.
Incredible, just incredible
So inspiring to watch you work your craft
Thanks so much! Thats very kind of you
I rarely leave a comment.
However, I have rarely seen anything as beautiful and wonderful that impresses me as this. My highest respect for such elaborate and ingenious handwork... The time and effort that goes into it too - hats off!!!
that's not a box, that's art with a practical use !
Dovetail joints would look beautiful on this as the contrasting colours would stand out. But it's so cute!
it's not only the craftsmanship for me. It's also the quality of the videos that are just amazing!!
Thanks so much!
Really beautifull craftsmanship! Its so simple, but the "simple" details like the brass band around the top and bottom, and the brass pullbars really gives it such a luxury look!
Thanks. Its copper not brass by the way
@@pedullastudio aah, in my defence, i was watching on my tiny tablet screen so I couldn't see the difference 😉 but still, great detail
crazy, you are not a carpenter, you are an artist. Congratulations boy. Never seen creating with wood the way you do.
Thank you
First time watching and I had to subscribe. Your precision and tool skills are second to none. And that's coming from a high end bespoke joiner that's been doing this for 16 years! Even sealing the brass. Top work. Great filming too
What a pleasure to sit and watch a master craftsman producing a work of art. Sir, you are an artisan in the true sense of the word, thank you.
Stunningly beautiful. Your wood shop would be stuff of dreams. I love how this piece doesn’t have complicated joinery. Your videos are top notch and I enjoy them very much (just wish there was more of them). Happy memorial day weekend
Thanks for the comment
The biggest problem with these videos is there aren't enough of them, gorgeous, sublime work, as usual, thanks for uploading.
Another project that destroys the spirit, it's so beautiful. The combination of copper and walnut is just sublime. Bravo
Incredible. Such attention to detail are not often seen these days!
I have to say, I love the lighting. Hands down whatever you are working on is what this video is about. I love the different shades and shadows that you really see. I would illuminate with purpose. You have made me a permanent viewer.
Thanks so much
Awe inspiring! Your video photography is as professional as you wood work! Watching this is a revelation of what can be!
Honestly, I could dedicate the next 20 years of my life to woodworking and my best work wouldn't look as good as most of your jigs 😂
I love the "feel" of your vids, very peaceful. You are a true craftsman and artist. Your designs are stunning, I love the thoughtfulness you put into each piece.
Thanks so much!
The second time I have washed this video, and it is very appreciable. Thank you.
Finally getting a chance to watch this one - fantastic Nick
Thanks for watching Jon!
Mesmerizing! This is pure luxury and good taste. Can’t stop watching.
Awesome, thanks for watching
I’m a sucker for walnut….and copper….and watches. WOW this is gorgeous.

@@pedullastudio Do you have the plan for this box on patreon?, looking to make this for my industrial technology class
I really want to work with Woodworking when watching you work, amazing work sir.
It’s 10:30pm on Friday night and I suddenly feel the need to go vacuum my workshop! Awesome setup, equally awesome talent. Much respect!
It was spotless wasn't it :D

Wow, I came over because of mention on Lincoin St Woodworks. Glad I did amazing work.
Awesome. Thanks for watching

I go back and watch this video when I feel like I have lost the drive to get in the shop. It is one of my favorite videos...
That copper inlay is crazy! I love the handmade hardware.
Thanks
The level of detail in your work is truly remarkable and inspiring. It motivates me to head to my workshop and engage in some creative endeavors, though I must admit that my creations will likely fall short of the exceptional standard you have set.
Absolutely incredible. I could watch this all day every day and the videography and lighting is outstanding my man! Well done.
functional, elegant, just really pretty work and workmanship.
So meticulous in execution and a stunning result. Thanks for sharing your process.
you one of the best furniture designer on youtube. if you could just do a video every week weel be great..
Thank you
Great piece. When you went to the lathe and then to the planer, I had no idea what you where concocting!!! Awesome work as usual.
Thanks so much
That is so gorgeous! Love the handle design. I kept thinking how cool that handle would be on all the drawers in a kitchen!🥰
very high level of quality and design. I really like the copper inlay.

mesmerizing craftmanship . Simply the best!
Thank you
Very impressive - design, skills and the box. Thanks for sharing.
it took me quite some time, but FINALLY I found a woodworker who's clever enough NOT to put glue on the dowels but YES where it belongs: in the holes.
Excellent video. I like the copper accents. Also the round cylinder you put into a jig and used the planer … nice.
The block plane to finish off the corners is a nice touch
