  • This is a Wavy & Curly Hair Routine video that's perfect for the Indian Monsoon season. During monsoon, we see excess humidity. Living in Calcutta with high humid conditions, I've noticed that a few things really help to tame my frizz and give me volume without sacrificing on definition. 1. I use both a denman brush and comb to make sure I have volume and uniform definition.
    2. I layer my stylers, while also keeping it moderately light and fluffy. I make sure that my moisturizers are enough for my hair, but I also make sure that I am not over moisturizing my hair. I also make sure to use products that give me hard hold while also keeping my roots fluffy.
    3. Finishing with a hair spray or hair mist for extra hold is also a big part of my routine in humid conditions.
    4. Using clips for root lift is an equally part of my routine to make sure my hair has enough volume and does not look limp.

    Hi Michelle, I am new to CGM about 3 months, still on the trial and error phase but starting to see some effect! Your content is so thoroughly researched and amazing... a big thank you for that! I wanted to request you to do a video on how to section ones own hair when styling...I am having trouble doing it as my hair gets tangled a lot. It would be nice if you could show an easy way to do this! Thanks :-)

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  2 роки тому +1

      Follow these steps are let me know what happens
      1. Before you style your hair, spray it down with lots of water.
      2. Then run a comb through gingerly. Make sure there's enough water in your hair.
      3. Then using a tail comb or with your fingers you can section. Separate the sections by clipping them out of the way.
      4. You can do 4 or 5 sections. This video demonstrates 5 sections. My other routine videos demonstrated 2 and 4 sections.
      5. Once your sections are done, wring your hair out like i showed in the video.
      6 before you apply leave in/curl cream comb through again
      (The hair gets* tangled when it starts* drying so make sure to try these steps, it will make a huge difference. Report back if you see improvement)
      Don't be afraid of the curly hair police telling you to not comb while styling. It's not going to make a difference to your clump size if you have enough water in your hair. Hair with also clump back together when you spray it down with water after.

    Hi Michelle. I started CGM in February after watching your videos. I told you about that through comments. It's been a journey.
    In the beginning I struggled with itchy scalp. So I consulted with a cosmetic dermatologist. When I talked to him about CGM, i mocked at me infront his staff. He advised me to wash my hair since we are living in a tropical country. He actually scolded me because I trusted UA-cam. I was heart broken. But still i continued CGM. Because that was my last hope. I was about to cut my hair, before CGM.
    Last month I attended my best friend's wedding. Many have noticed my curly hair. Some little kids came over and touched my hair. They said to their parents about my beautiful curls. That was such a happy moment for me. I really can't express my happiness. I haven't received such a good comment on my hair for a long time. Still i haven't found my best routine or products. But I feel really confident. And i strongly believe that one day I will make it.
    Thanks to you Michelle 💖 🥰😘

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  2 роки тому +9

      I'm really sorry about this. I got mocked so much when I started cgm. I totally understand how frustrating it is. We do have some doctors online recommending to detangle dry. I get how it can feel like you're doing something wrong. Yes India has a tropical climate, which is exactly why you are free to modify. You don't have to wash your hair once a week if it's not working. Wash it when you want. You don't have to spend too much time styling either. You don't have to wet detangle if you dislike it. I've uploaded a 5 min routine for frequent washers.
      I've also uploaded a modified routine with no wet detangling. Just modify and do what works for you.
      Maybe mocking you wasn't the best way to get his point across. But we can't help how other people communicate. All we can do is change the way in which we perceive the things that are told to us.
      If you can't use it, lose it!
      I'm really happy you received compliments on your hair. You deserve all the praise for your commitment and positive attitude! You're taking a leap of faith and trying something new. That's commendable!
      I know you feel like you're not there yet. This is normal. We all have to try so many products and routines before landing on something that* works and is sustainable in the long run. From my side all i can do is to effectively communicate my thoughts on products in the hope that it helps you choose. This is a promise i fully intend to keep.
      You're going to get there! Success is always sweeter when you're starting point is low. Imagine being complimented on something that you were previously insulted about! Just imagine!
      Sending you a big hug!
      (I don't need to tell you this but many youtubers are extremely sincere. We pour a ton of research and hard work into our* videos. We also feel the weight of the world upon our shoulders when it comes to effectively communicating sound and honest advice. We won't stir you wrong)

      Thank you for your help and support.
      I'm washing my hair once in a week now, because I have to travel Monday to Friday as I'm a teacher.
      It is monsoon season here in Kerala. My hair takes a full day to dry. By that time I will loose some of my curl definition and it causes friz. And it bothers my neck also. I'm thinking about buying a diffuser. But very confused about it. Currently my financial situation is not very good. It is a time, where I have to very careful about money. What would be your advice on buying a diffuser? Would that be a good investment?
      I would like to ask you one more thing Michelle, currently I'm using fix my curls leave in. Own both variants. I have more Friz near my scalp. My hair is not moisturized after day one. Exactly like what you have mentioned in your review. I purchased it because I don't want to spent lot. Protein variant worked better my hair. I'm about to purchase a new leave in conditioner. What would be your suggestion? I have low porosity hair

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  2 роки тому +4

      Your hair being wet for super long periods is not very great in the long run. It can actually cause more damage. If your hair takes the whole day to dry, i think you can consider investing in a diffuser on amazon. You'll get an emi option. You might even get away with paying 200 to 300 a month. Take it easy and give it some time. Once you feel like you can afford one, I'd say go for it. Get the one i have. It's lasted me more than 2 years and it's very sturdy. Even though I haven't used others, i feel like the company Wahl is more reliable and the device is sturdier than the other cheap ones I've seen online. I only got it because it has a cool shot button, 3 speed setting and 3 temp settings. You'll do well to go between the cool setting and the medium setting. It will significantly cut down on your drying time. Get it when you're able to.
      About leave in conditioners, if you're saying that the FMC curl quenching hair butter made your hair frizzy, do you think it's because it was over-moisturising for you? Or are you able to do a moderately heavy product? If that's the case either best life or true frog. Each bottle will last you for months and months. So slowly save up and then get something.

    • @akhilak623
      @akhilak623 2 роки тому

      @@MichelleManuel I have watched your diffuser video and have an eye on Wahl diffuser.
      Both varients caused Friz. But while I'm using moisture variant found that my curl patterns are very loose and lost my definition in a day. But when I'm using protein version my curls stay longer. But both weigh down my hair in the wash day. Hair near my scalp looks really dry. But at the ends it fine. I'm not really sure why it is like that?
      Also I'm using enliven blue gel, which have a loose hold on my hair.

    Hi Michelle I enjoy your videos and have watched quite a few over the months. I have short curly hair and have not found many videos directed towards that by other UA-camrs. However I have tried a few of the CG friendly products and styling methods. My issue in India is the hard water which damages my hair so much despite the products I use. This did not happen much when I lived in Japan where the climate is hot and humid too for several months. Any advice to combat the hard water issue since you have mentioned similar concerns. Also any advice on scrunching/plopping for short curly hair would be very welcome. Thank you. Srishti.

    Hey, Michelle. Preethi here. I've been following for a year now and I started my curly hair routine with your beginner curly hair guide video. However I had a hard time finding out my hair itself, so start using the right products. I thought I'll reach out since I feel my hair is very much like yours.
    It's highly porous and wavy curly. Initially, it was on the curlier side, but due to lack of care my hair's ability to curl decreased.
    Also, my outer strands of hair are dead, Dry no matter how much product I use, how much finger coiling I do, they are dead Dry. The inner strands of hair are very nourished and defined.
    I'm trying to find products that form a routine that will help my hair regain some strength.
    I came to you for product suggestions for my routine. I'll be leaving India soon, so I want to buy promising products and leave. Later sort according to how my hair is accepts.
    After watching ur videos and some others I thought I'll buy
    Just herbs hair mask for DC
    Cantu avocado curl enhancing for leave-in
    Fix my curls curl quenching flax seed jelly
    I thought I'll form a routine with this. Conditioner and shampoo... I'm seeking ur suggestion. And any other products if you suggest so
    Are these products right for my hair damage treatment and is the right amount of protein and moisture?
    2. Also bond repair treatment at home product suggestion plz...
    A little cheaper version of oaplex would help me
    Thank you!!!

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  2 роки тому

      The outer part is dry because of sun damage. This is exactly same as my hair. The inner sections are medium porosity. Retain moisture well and curl up much more. The outer bits are dry and don't curl up as much.
      There are 2 videos that I've made that will help you choose product. Pay close attention to the part about shrinkage. (Mentioned in the video)
      If you're super serious about your product lineup I've made several videos on how to choose products. It's all in a playlist called Cg products india. Just go to the playlist section on my channel. Besides that I'll link the 3 relavant videos below.

      During refreshing it's fine to comb
      I've seen people do it during the prepoo stage. But this only works on some hair types. Hair that isn't super tangled. Some people with fine hair can get away with it.
      I personally cant. It causes lots of breakage on my hair.

    Currently all I do is just wash them and they look nice and wavy on the first day but after that they just look weird. My scalp gets oily just hours after washing them so I don’t use any conditioner currently . Should I be using conditioner or any other products? I’m worried that it might just weigh my hair down.

      @MichelleManuel  2 роки тому +1

      Based on all the reviews and videos I've watched, this is what I've gathered about cantu's leave in cream. Cantu is very cheap abroad. People used it because of how affordable and readily available it was back then. Now that a couple of years have passed and there are so many more incredible products, cantu does not hold its original charm. If you're in India and buying cantu at such a high price, it's not worth it. It's a super heavy cream that will be overly moisturising for most wavy hair types. If you have very tight curls and higher porosity, it might be a good fit. I'm not sure of its cruelty free status either. So maybe not such an interesting product in 2022 to pick up.

      I had to delete the previous comment as it spread misinformation. I've done detailed content to explain humectants (busting hair care myth video) and a super detailed video on hair porosity (detailing the tests that are inaccurate and how to actually check) I've worked way too hard to put forth accurate information so I won't stand for quick comments spreading outdated info & misinformation.
      If you're a beginner you don't need to focus on porosity just yet.
      Right now i would suggest switching to cg products and experimenting with a styling routine. Don't expect to get it right on the first few tries.
      Just choose a products and keep experimenting & working on your skill. You'll be surprised as to how amazing your hair will look once you've got your skills down. No one ever started cg and nailed their routine on the first few tries. (I have a full playlist on transition tips that details where we go wrong)
