I want to have all the linecooks watch this. Not only do i see a lot of these tips being utilized by by them, there's some myself that I do. Thus is a damn good video.
Duuuuude, I am so pissed off now that I realized some things about my previous job. I lost confidence in myself, in my craft, and in my ability to learn because of the people who "trained" me (although I believe that I might be part of the problem, too). It gives me so much validation that I was at least doing some things the "right" way. I feel so mad, though, that I accidentally did so many disrespectful things on accident because I believed in the wrong people.
Great Tips! 1. **Be Late:** Show a lack of commitment. 2. **Pretend to Know Everything:** Be arrogant and avoid learning. 3. **Ignore Instructions:** Disregard handbooks and training. 4. **Neglect Knife Skills:** Use inefficient cuts to waste time. 5. **Be Messy and Disorganized:** Create a chaotic workspace. 6. **Never Taste Your Food:** Avoid quality control and feedback. 7. **Work Messily:** Spread ingredients and create a cluttered station. 8. **Assume a Short Shift:** Avoid extra work and leave early. 9. **Never Ask Questions:** Rely on others to figure things out. 10. **Blame Others:** Avoid taking responsibility for mistakes. 11. **Be Impatient:** Create stress and rush through tasks. 12. **Panic Under Pressure:** Avoid handling stressful situations effectively. 13. **Disrespect Food:** Handle ingredients carelessly. 14. **Ignore Others:** Avoid communication and collaboration. 15. **Be Rigid:** Refuse to adapt or learn new techniques. 16. **Communicate Poorly:** Make it difficult to understand instructions. 17. **Use Low-Quality Equipment:** Avoid investing in proper tools. 18. **Ignore Food Safety:** Handle ingredients unsanitarily. 19. **Neglect Health:** Prioritize work over physical and mental well-being. 20. **Avoid Helping Others:** Be independent and uncooperative. 21. **Be Extremely Sensitive:** Take offense to any criticism. 22. **Stay Indifferent:** Avoid reflecting on mistakes or improving. 23. **Have Poor Time Management:** Waste time and be inefficient. 24. **Disrespect Superiors:** Challenge authority and avoid guidance. 25. **Hate the Process:** Find no enjoyment or fulfillment in cooking.
I am autistic. I learned social skills by watching others fail miserly and doing opposet. I learn better from videos like this than the ones trying to teach.
While this is all great advice one important tip you forgot to mention is to make sure you’re very drunk. I like to get a head start by getting trashed in the morning before I drive to work.
Never get good at a station you don’t like working! Always suck at that station, so that you never have to work it!
