  • I honestly can't believe I actually paid $411.04 for a Monolit Glass Blade. I know glass blades cost more than the average tile blade, but never did I ever think I would pay this much for 1 blade.
The saying "There's nothing like the right tool for the job" is the main reason I decided to purchase this blade. I had to cut a unique shaped tile, that was a blend of Mirrored Glass & Marble. If you've ever cut mirrored glass, you know that any imperfection in the cut WILL BE VISIBLE, especially when grouted. To make things even more challenging, this glass was 1/2" thick. I had another glass tile blade which I loved, but it simply wasn't doing the job with this tile.
I remembered my friends at San Diego Marble & Tile mentioning a glass blade that is unrivaled, so I decided to give it a try to make this project come out amazing.
The blade is the Monolit CPV250. I know Monolit is a reputable brand, so that gave me some purchasing confidence.
I can honestly say, that I was greatly impressed with this blade. It cut way faster & cleaner than I imagined. The cuts on this mirrored glass tile, literally came out PERFECT! The cut edge was so clean, that I didn't even need to smooth the edges. One of the greatest things that impressed me about this blade was that I didn't need to cut the glass tile upside down. Normally you would need to cut glass tile upside down to prevent the paper backing from tearing with the cut, but this blade cut so clean, even when I cut it right side up.
Yes, I wish it didn't cost so much, but for this project it was the perfect tool for the job. The good news is, I did find it on Amazon for $100 cheaper! Here's my Amazon Affiliate Link for the blade:

I'm curious to see how long this blade will last, which will ultimately determine it's worth, so I'll keep you posted.
Let me know if you've ever tried this blade, and what you thought about it?

Do you have any suggestions for cutting 90 deg inside corners on hard Italian large format tile? I have had no problem doing this on other porcelain tile. BTW, I was just at SD Tile & Marble and they recommended the 3.5" Montolit DNA blade to use with an angle grinder. Holding an angle grinder straight to feather out the remaining chunk seems pretty hard to do without messing up. What do you suggest to get the last bit out of the corner?

@xolomartinez6036 how are you cutting most of the 90 degree cut, with a saw?

@@HowToTileLikeaPro Using a Dewalt 24000 10 inch wet tile saw plus an Alpha Porcellana blade from SD Tile & Marble to get the majority of the material out of the way. I cut up to the corner using the wet saw. I'm left with some stuble in the corner cut. Also trying not to overshoot the cut but just up to it.
Trying to get a clean corner - getting those last few millimeters, thousandths of an inch in the corner. Someone told me about making a core cut in the corner but no idea how that supposed to work.

@xolomartinez6036 I usually use the grinder with a diamond blade to clean up that corner... you do need a steady hand, but once you do it a couple times, you get used to it and it becomes easier 👍.
If you didn't want to use the grinder method, you can flip the tile upside down and cut it on the saw the same way you did the initial cuts👌. Obviously just cut it slow so you don't cut too far. Hope this helps!

How long have you been doing Tile work and be honest how is your lung health?🫁
Considering Silica dust exposure causes lung cancer.
I unfortunately suffer from OCD. I’ve been a hardworking dedicated Tile Helper for 2 years now and I’m extremely worried about getting silicosis lung cancer since I’m grinding tile, mixing thinset and grout all day everyday. Company I work for don’t give a fuck about their workers physical health. OSHA’s wet dream seeing the all the constant violations on the jobsites we work on 😂😅

It's good to be aware and take precautions, like wearing a mask. I usually use the n95 with a vent, but I also have a respirator with filters when I'll around alot of dust👍. I've been doing this over 27 years, masks are worth the money. 💯💯
