Far Cry 5 is being announced officially today by Ubisoft, so I wanted to deliver a video with how I feel about the current state of Far Cry.
As always, this is a survey video... a "discussion starter." Share your thoughts with the community in the comments.

Do you guys think the Far Cry series is *great or terrible?*
Downward Thrust great
man u should have more than 500,000 subs
great
It doesn't have to be great or terrible, there are many shades of grey
As someone who started this series on the third game I think it's *great*. Unfortunately Far Cry 4 was a let down for me, that's also the reason why I didn't buy Primal.
Anyhow, looking at this video and from what I've heard Far Cry 2 appears to be the best one. I hope Far Cry 5 does have these realistic elements as well. Also I wish Far Cry 5 will have a map editor that allows us to play PVP modes like in Far Cry 3 and also allows us to play CO-OP like missions like in Far Cry 4.
In Far cry 2 you can save the game by pressing F5 not only on safe houses
far cry 3 was so much fun when it came out. Then every single ubisoft open world game after was almost exactly the same, that is where they went wrong
because ubisoft is lazy company, they don't want really try to make money
They are, but it's declining which each new same-y release.
Ewertton Tadeu well thats the thing the more you add the less you are able to innovate, you cant expect them to innovate infinitely
Far Cry 3 wasn't the first to follow that style of open world, however it was more than enough of an original take on an older franchise that it became it's own great game. Now they're just rehashing the Far Cry 3 formula much like they rehashed the Assassin's Creed formula, tied in with the rehashed "every-other-fucking-open-world-ubisoft-game" formula.
Definitely a popular opinion.
Far Cry 3 had one of the best first halves of any game I've played.
Jackson Kellams thats only half though for me fc2 and fc4 are my favorites because there fun all the way through
literal cancer in my opinion FC4 is really boring. Maybe I played it too many times, and began to be boring.
Agreed the first island which is vaas island storyline is the best
Basically this
Trying to stealth the first raid during my first playthrough felt so intense. There's a handful of games, including this one, which I wish I could experience again.
This video is so bias Many Many MANY more people agree far cry 3 is the best in the series (I’ve only played 2 and I know this) The deluded point of view is so frustrating as you mention everything great about 2 and listed not one fault? Its not a perfect game, While you say “Farcry 3 drove a lot of fans away” Bullshit you’re just saying that because you have a false sense of reality and in your mind you want everyone to have the same love for a game that you have. Welllllll reality check some people can see through you and it’s one of the main factors why you made this video. So stop spreading false information. More people like 3, 3 was when farcry was at its peak which they haven’t been able to recreate ( I know 4 tried but that’s where it was doomed to fail for trying to copy everything ) God I wish nostalgia wasn’t a thing it takes away from newer titles in the entire gaming industry saying “The old stuff is better”!!!!!
Am I the only one who actually liked Farcry 4?
Sean Poliakon No. I loved FC4. 3rd is my top favorite followed by 4
Mr. Bush Wookie same
4 is my favorite far cry so far
I just posted a comment like this xD. But nah you're not alone Far Cry 4 is my favorite game too
4>3>Blood Dragon>2
haven't played 1
As someone who is new to the series I loved Far Cry 4 as a standalone game.
if you had started with 2 or 3, you would feel the same, but more.
nah 2 had a better ambientation and some really good gameplay features,3 and 4 are the same but 4 has improved gameplay and the only change is the ambientation
I started with Far Cry 2 & consider it the worst in the series.
@@MerlautZone nice bait
@@unknownincognito7976 Nope, I was serious.
*plays FC3*
*parent walk in when Citra scene*
*feel everything leave your body"
In fc3 you could pause cutscenes at least in fc4 there's nude arena girls and you cant pause the cutscenes
I actually liked Far Cry Primal. I thought it was a breath of fresh air in a series that is becoming very repetitive.
Yea
AHHHH WENJA!!!
I loved it ,by far my favorite
Takkar ___ man you really love that game dont you? Whats the survival of the fittest achievement, not dieing at all?
Exactly
The original Far Cry was *NOT* an open world game.
for its time it was... you could wander around befor geting to objective, second time when I instaled the game, I went around it and found a lot of camps I dint cleard or stuff like WW2 skeletons and so... the jungle was real especialy in that rogallo and jeep runs
Milos Olej there was no freedom at all in Far Cry 1...
The orginal far cry series was no open world, per say. It was also a sci-fi game but nobody remembers instincts for some reason.
Sherrif I wonder why no one remember Instincts, it's not like it was only released on the original xbox or anything silly like that...
true. that's why it needs a remake badly.
FC3 and FC4 are definitely the high point of the franchise.
Agreed
Yes
You didn't get the evolution of Jason as a character in FC3...
(Sorry for my bad English)He started as a guy who wanted to survive, but with each mission he was more and more excited for killing people and causing chaos.
That one mission of burning weed was the moment when the transformation felt complete when his madness came to light.
Not much of an evolution though because he just picks up a gun, shoots people and thats it.
There was just never a sense of him being remorseful or hesitant to kill in order to survive (since the game tried to set him up as some random 'normal' person that ended up in a bad situation) so its just Jason suddenly becoming Rambo and placed in a situation to slaughter the islands animals and pirates effortlessly without training or thought.
Also the whole 'chosen one/warrior' thing was weird and random.
Your English is pretty good.
Edgardo Marineros
Your lack of examples is triggering. Jason was a dynamic character as he started out as some California rich kid who only made it to this place through a guy he just met at a club. Jason sees the death of his brother, kills a man, and falls into and ocean. He later is forced to kill many more and work with the rakyat in order to save the rest of his friends and brother. At the end of the game, (choosing live, he is extremely dynamic if you kill your friends as that was the whole point of his efforts squandered for a life on the island) Jason's brother and family return home on the boat, but there is a monologue where Jason talks of what he has done. He regretted this so much that he stayed on the island knowing he would not be able to integrate back into society. He knew he has changed. He does not like it, but he has to live with it.
Jason is a dynamic character, learn how to at least look at a plot for more than two seconds before citing the weed mission as your best example while much more in the story says otherwise.
Vinnisaurus
First guy he kills, with ending where friends live....you clearly didn't listen to the monologue
You need to read Lord of The Flies, the same thing happens to the boys in that book that happens to Jason in FC3. Because that's what happens the longer people are exposed to that environment. Duh.
the jump in graphics from the first to second game was pretty incredible
And from 2nd to 3rd too
I don't know why there's so much hate on Primal. I liked 3 and 4 better overall but Primal was the only one that truly scared me.
exactly...yu wud think atleast once before getting out at night without a beast...I hate it wen people do not appreciate great piece of work...jump on the hate train mindlessly...primal was THE SHIT,,it was DOPE...
Troller Ninja agreed
Kyle Miller KRATI
Kyle Miller You actually had something to fear at night
it scared me of how terrible it was
Far Cry 2 never gets the credit it deserves. It's still my favorite.
i would have loved to play through far cry 4 with the "secret" ending as the real start point
Same. I really like Min as a character and would have liked to fight alongside him, especially with him as leader being the best outcome for Kyrat
Far Cry 3 was one of the best games I've ever played
agree..I believe is the best
I personally think it got a bit dull after vaas died
@@juliansmith6217 agree...I was expecting to see him later in the game...a bit disappointed on that
Hoyt is so underrated, he literally made vaas into vaas
Vaas in Far Cry 3 is one of the best villains ever
GLaDOS from portal is also a great villain
@@shadenfraud3212 true, true, we need more villains like those 2, games focus so much on making villains scary and a huuuge threat or something but these two show that, you don't need some world ending threat of a villain to make the game feel cool
It was the vibe and personality they had. They had us feeling weak, scared or angry on every occasion we interacted with them... They were perfect.
I loved far cry 4, it's my favorite game in the series
Good News Guys. Elephants Here!!!!
Best game ever is Far Cry 4
Leo Calonder Too far.
yessss
Mine too
Just as the far cry 5 trailer drops
“You Felt... Human”
Yep, I feel very human every time I pull a giant metal bar from my torso
Far Cry Instincts is still the most fun for me.
I liked the FarCry series when it was a Sci-Fi thriller.
same
I actually really liked far cry 4
you didn't mention the 'FarCry Instincts' series :(
I thought instincts was just a shitty console port of farcry 1?
instincts was indeed an xbox exclusive, however it was its own, fully fledged game. It had a great story and setting, with awesome mechanics too. (Although the mind does sugar coat old games)
Fun campaign, not the greatest base multiplayer although the custom map making + zombies mode stood out the most to me.
I loved instincts. Multiplay was the absolute best for me. Well FC2 was close in multiplayer but couldnt beat instincts.
Who Thinks Far Cry 3 Is The Best Far Cry?!? :)

far cry 5 will be released 4 years on from far cry 4. I don't really count primal cause i mean... come on.
Far Cry 1 - Nostalgia
Far Cry 2 - OH SHIT HELP
Far Cry 3 - Wait wtf
Far Cry 4 - Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V
Far Cry Primal - GPU Benchmarking Kit
Amen Shan Well, for one, is it shame to copy a legend? Secondly, many people realise that FC4 had many things FC3 did not. For starters, an interesting, morally ambiguous conflict. A bunch of new game mechanics. And most importantly, at times it was fucking punishing. In FC3, I breezed through the hardest difficulty. FC4 made me sweat sometimes. Not as much as FC2, but then again, thar was basically a really unfair survival game. Sure, you had a shitton of medkits, but when you did not, it was difficult. And I liked to play with minimal medkits, because that is how the game was designed really - it taught to ambush, be precise, and not to get shot. FC4 was more along the lines of 3 in terms of gameplay (so you are always on hea offense no matter what, because enemies are weaker than you are), but more difficult. It felt like Rambo still, but rambo was a redshirt here.
Horváth Benedek True, I agree with all your points, though I still wish we had something to give it its own identity. Despite everything it changed, it never changed the aesthetic. And that's where it went wrong.
Tim Nergaard it's like counting hardline in the battlefield franchise
Horváth Benedek, The train is never gone for a cyberpunk game. CD projekt announced Cyberpunk 2077 in 2013 and has a "potential release date" in 2019 (which means it could be even later) which gave developers plenty of time beforehand to develop their own games in such a setting. CD Projekt doesn't own such a setting anyway. The Deus Ex series have been going since 2002, unfortunately Square Enix shelved it from the disappointing sales of Mankind Divided (a wicked game no one brought) so now there's even more room on the market for yet another Cyberpunk game. The only other series I know of in that setting is Shadowrun and the rather recent Shadowrun Returns which brought the series back to being an isometric RPG with a customizable character and non linear story after the flop that was that FPS game for Xbox 360 and PC, the new series of games has apparently been quite successful. Point is, the cyberpunk genre is starved so we can always do with more games with such a setting.
I played through 3 with just a bow, pistol, and AK, and didn't take over any outposts. I purposefully didn't want to play it as Rambo because I realized that my favorite part of the game was the very beginning when finding pirates on the road was a threat. I didn't use fast travel, and just walked across the map exploring on my way to each objective. It's a lot more fun to be at a disadvantage
Yup, the guy missed that F3 was a badass game because the quests were fun and you got to approach them however you like. I did most outposts with stealth/bow too. Kind of challenging and very rewarding.
tskwared667, The problem is that FC3 undeniably pushes you to be the most badass warrior on the island. Doesn't matter what combination you choose you are still the most lethal killing machine out there, and the gameplay only lends credence to this as it abandons the 'grounded reality' foundation. Far Cry 2 on the other hand was a CONSTANT struggle because guns jammed, they broke, ammo was limited, and gameplay was generally on your feet as more spontaneity was present. It didn't matter how good the guns you had were, they all broke down, and the random malaria hits kept you on your toes.
The thing is that it's diverse with 'loose' limitations. In FC3, even just an AK, pistol, and bow can get you through the whole game, I wouldn't call that a disadvantage.
E0V, You could mostly do that with FC2 as well, from memory. Won't deny that FC3 was fun, but it was a very different path from the more 'hardcore' (for lack of a better word) experience that FC2 offered.
Agreed, they should give way more of that feel in the new game, although that wouldn't make any sense given the setting
Farcry primal was fun as hell..sad not many people picked it up.great game to pick up seeing it costs next to nothing now..
The Rod I never picked it up because sadly I forgot it existed because of poor marketing
Primal is one of my favorite Far Cry games. It gave us a very unique setting and I loved becoming a beast master who could sic my bad-ass wolves and lions on my enemies.
It was a good game but in my opinion, it was very short.
no way. no guns. 👎👎
@@stalionv4587 "it was very short"
Only if you speed thru the story.
There's loads to do outside the main story line. I have hundreds of hours from only 2 playthrus, just enjoying the wonderful world.
Hi(sorry for my bad English)
Edgy Man suck
Nick Whittle *S U C C*
Ok it gud lol
Since Far Cry 3 and 4 are basically the same game just with a different look, I think it heavily depends on which one you played first. Far Cry 4 was my very first Far Cry game and I loved it sooooo much. After that, Far Cry 3 wasn't really that great fun to me.
You fucked up then.
I did the same thing. Far Cry 4 was my first game in the series and it blew me away. Tried to play 3 afterwards and was not interested. Primal was a different but fun game. Looking forward to what 5 will bring.
Hmm lucky for me, got both 3 and 4 but checked 3 first, no regrets...
I have over 100 hours on FC3, I played it before I bought FC4, yet still I enjoyed FC4 more..
I played fc4 first, and then tried fc3. Honestly, I still found fc3 fun as hell and the double takedowns are probably my favorite from fc3.
I liked Primal. I've finished 3,4 and Primal and I can't wait for 5.
You should try Blood Dragon then, it's basicallly Far Cry 3 but you are an overpowerd badass
I just forgot to mention it. Finished it. 👍
U are like me then

OUTLAST 3
Silas Tamimi its outlast 2 in day time
Outlast 3 w/guns
Outlast Pre-Sequel
open world not so insane outlast 2 with day cycle ... happy folks ?
Silas Tamimi wow, the same comment that everybody copy pastes on every single far cry 5 video that makes absolutely no sense - great job
Far Cry 4 had an amazing level design visually imo.
i must be different than everybody else i love the game play so much im fine with them making the same old game with a new story time and time again
Tyler Lash, same. I mean its one brand so is it that terrible to have most of the gameplay the same? If they want innovated gameplay, make that the new far cry protagonist is somewhere in the past, he is a hooded guy that fights an old ancient corporation with only two hidden knives and a few other weapons and.... Oh no wait thats already a game
But that can't be said for anyone else, I bet the majority of players would want something different.
I remember playing Far Cry 3 on my crappy laptop at 20 FPS and yes I finished the game. After building my first PC I played the whole thing again and a third time. I put it up as one of those games I not only finished once but finished it again. I played and finished Far Cry 4 full as the new Far Cry formula was still fresh to me. Going back to Far Cry 2 just to see the roots of the games I lost interest even though the raw and realistic style of the game drew me in. Far Cry Primal while being interesting just felt like a completely strip down of the game to its very core and that was all. I have a feeling I will be interested in Far Cry 5 but I have this feeling at I won't be feeling the same formula. Personally I need a game with new and engaging gameplay and a competent storyline that feels sorta cool.
I'm on the opposite end as you. Far cry 3 is the one of the few games I just didn't complete. I liked the location and I was quite excited to play it but the characters killed it for me. I can't relate to rich american dude bro kids who are on a vacation. Especially when one becomes a fucking marine after a 2 minute ducking tutorial.
I think you went a little bit fast on your conclusions, you say Primal was a disaster, but why exactly?
I really think blooddragon and Primal was better than 4 alone. they had a different FEEL.
Really, on primal you just followed the same formula, but there was actually immersion in doing those things cause at the time and place, hunting and crafting and finding spots and landmarks was a thing humans HAD to do to survive.
So why was Primal a disaster? just based on sales? Thats the hate bandwagoon. Even if the story isnt so charismatic, it's a good game IMO.
Also, that's kinda what a franchise is, not defending doing the same things over and over, but what if we asked han solo to pilot enterprise? It's not how franchises work, they follow a formula... So we can't ask too much of it. That's why people hate when movies go to 6, 7 sequels, you CANT milk that much out of a formula, We need to ask for new good IP's, not another good FarCry cause it wont be good as it was ever again.
Primal is a good game, but not a good Far Cry game.
LOL anything would be better than 4.
I didn't like Primal really at all, but I agree 100% with you
Far Cry hit their peak with Far Cry 3. 2 was not as well beloved because the aspects of weapon jamming, malaria threat and limited supplies seemed to make the game less of an adventure and more of a persistent challenge, almost to the point of paying homage to the Oregon Trail in regards to skin of your teeth success along with lots of trial and error. Far Cry 3 moved the challenge away from core mechanical elements and inserted it into various mission structures, which is much less rage inducing. The reason 3 is the pinnacle is because of a combination of the final product and how Ubisoft delivered the product. From their E3 reveal with the "Definition of Insanity" monologue people wanted the game desperately, and when the game people are clamoring for is buttery smooth with a good tempo, you've done well. Far Cry 4 seemed to try and ride the love people had for Far Cry 3, but didn't present itself with the same bravado and tone as 3. Far Cry 5 seems to try and follow 3's formula in being a bold and confident game that will be challenging but not overly stressful, with a well rounded cast.
My personal ranking: 2>4>Blood Dragon>3>1 (haven't played Primal)
FC2 is my personal favorite because of the immersion, pure and simple, but the story could have been refined to stand out more. Missions did become a bit samey over time, but it made sense since you were a mercenary for higher. Despite FC2 being my favorite in the franchise, I can only recommend it to those who like the most hardcore of FPS. It is truly a love it or hate it game.
FC4 is an objectively better game than its mainline predecessor, FC3. The only two downsides are that Pagan Min, though a very strong and charismatic villain, did not hit those some levels of tension and excitement as Vaas did, and the story was less complex than FC3 (maybe more shallow, but honestly they are both shallow, FC3 just had more you could do with it). FC4 expanded the weapon roster and gameplay mechanics (all in a good way), side missions and activities were more intricate and less repetitive, and to top things all off, the geography of Kyrat was superior to Rook Island in my opinion (I personally prefer forest and mountains to tropical islands).
Blood Dragon was a really tight standalone DLC for Far Cry 3 that re-themed the mechanics introduced in FC3 to fit an 80s Sci-Fi, action, cyberized dinosaur aesthetic. Mechanically, the game did not differ from Far Cry 3 (except for the heart thing, which I forget how that worked), but the shorter length cut down on filler content, and the ending...heck yeah the ending! One of my top ten favorite endings of all the games I've played. Heck, probably even top 5. Just a great over the top action sequence for a solid finale. Too be honest, I should probably rank Blood Dragon as my second favorite Far Cry game, but it's hard for me to do that since FC4 brought the modern Far Cry formula to its peek so strongly.
FC3 is an interesting case. I played it when it came out and thought it was great, but FC2 was still my preferred Far Cry game. I appreciated how it broadened the franchises appeal to a wider demographic, while further defining what it meant to be a Far Cry game, which was not well defined since there were only two mainline games in the franchise prior to FC3. The plain truth though is that FC3 only had the impact it did because of Vaas, which forever meant the series must have a charismatic villain. I say this because I have recently gone back and replayed both FC3 and FC2 (in that order). FC3 is extremely repetitive in its side content for no good reason, nearly pointless collectibles are strewn about the map, fire physics are not as impressive (IMO), Jason Brody's dialogue is terrible, unrealistic, and borderline psychopathic (which is sort of what the devs were going for), but ultimately you lose any connection to the character you might have had, and then there is the ludonarrative dissonance talked about in the video. Let's see what did I forgot? Oh! I know! The most cringe worthy moment in Far Cry 3, scratch that, the entire Far Cry series (and one of the worst in all AAA games), the final choice. I don't need to go into much detail to make my point. If you finished FC3 you know exactly what I am talking about, but let's just say that one of the choices (Citra) defeats the point of the ENTIRE game! I don't know who would ever pick that option. In a nutshell, there are two great things that FC3 gave us (3 if you count an XP based skill system). 1) Great charismatic villains (The Jackal from FC2 was a precursor leading up to this), and 2) Capturable outposts with fast travel. FC3 was a very strong game for its time, but it does not age as well as you might expect because of the factors I just mentioned, chiefly of which are the problems with the open world design and side activities. FC3 is still a solid game that evolved the franchise and is a must play for any modern Far Cry fan.
FC2 showed signs of age also, but the only significant factors were in the games mechanics/controls which feel rather stiff and clunky when you start playing, as many old games do (Note: I have not played FC2 on PC, but doing so might fix this). Other aging signs of FC2 are the AI (at times), and of course the graphics, though they're actually still pretty good for a nearly 10 year old game. The point here is that while both FC2 and FC3 have negative effects of their age, FC3 is hurt more in ways that make the most difference. With FC2, you can easily get past it.
For FC1 I don't have a whole lot to say. It created a solid base for the franchise and I had a good time with it. Right now, it doesn't stand out too much and it doesn't do anything spectacular. All I can say is if you want to play it, you will probably have a good time, but it probably won't change your view on game design or anything. To me, FC1, along with several other games of the time, represent the evolution and merging of the FPS and open-world genres.
Finally, I can't offer my insight on Far Cry Primal since I haven't played it, but I am looking forward to Far Cry 5, especially with some of the major gameplay and quality of life changes Ubisoft is making (such as no more towers (supposedly)), and I look forward to where the future of the franchise may take us.
Blackhawkthunder007 i totally agree with u
People saying fc3 the best but yet they haven’t played two but they hate it just due to the old graphics that’s crazy
Far Cry 2 is still the best for me, love the way the game challenges the player. Kids nowadays only want to blow things up and be a godlike "heroman".
Geison Maciel weird, everybody always hated fc2. now everyone loves it.
"Casuals", not "kids".
torque the man himself
I love FC2 since the 1st time I played it, back in Jan/2009. I know most people at first hated the game and that the difficulty levels really challenged the player's abilities in a FPS, but I'm an old time gamer and that's just made me want to play it even more. Maybe now people got older and, in a time where roguelike games as Dark Souls became so loved, finally have understood the proposal of FC2.
New Recruit yeah, exactly.
But this guy said he thinks the game went downhill when the main character turned into a Rambo.
You're totally right about what you said though. The market is flooded with fps with no tension at all or even a decent story. It reminds me of a comment I read a while now. It said something like "These kids will never understand the thrill of infiltrating into a base and rescue one of your comrades without being noticed, and without shooting a single bullet" referring to Metal Gear Solid :'(
ubisoft is milking their formula until their net returns goes to the negatives and then restart coming out with new ideas.
They should improve the formula, maybe give it a small twist, but not change it, look at Primal
Well it had to start with F3, which by most features was a new IP. Ubisoft may be assholes, but creating a new IP is a very risky move that paid off. And still, I found F4 to be as much fun as F3.
Hey Downward Thrust I have been binging on your channel for a while now upon discovering it. I almost never comment on UA-cam so i hope this comment has some value to it. Keep up the good work! Personally think that your Did it fail and discussion/research analysis videos are the ones that got me really hooked and would definitely like to see more of them!
What point did this video make, because i couldn't find one.
Please, do a video about GTA IV vs GTA V.....what is better and stuff like that :)
SarcasticGuy gta v is better in every way.
torque the man himself it's not, at all
San Tito exactly 5 didn't have shit compared to 4 the story in 4 was actually tensed and memorable and the physics was just on point compared to 5
torque the man himself GTA4 I think had a better overall tone with its serious story and all, but GTA5 was a better overall game. Everything was fun and the story had meaning where it count. GTA5 is more Pulp fiction while GTA4 was more Godfellas if that makes sense. I don't think so, but hope you get my drift
San Tito it's not the best, but it has a lot of gameplay elements that make it fun even 3 years after it's release. Gta 4 had a better physics engine and storyline. You were able to focus on one character rather than three which added on how much you cared about the story. Most of the mods you see on gta 5 were revolutionized by gta 4. Both are great games overall but Gta 4 takes the cake for story. Too bad little kids took over Gta 5
Someone explain to me why far cry 5 is so controversial to people i mean it's fiction
what do you think about the far cry 5 E3 trailer?
0:52 - those aiming sites seem off! How are you even aiming there - it seems like it's at an angle even when you zoom down the sites?
Oh it's okay it was FC1 lol I thought it was a dodgy weapon in FC3 hahaha. See how good those graphics were for such an old game - even almost fooled me today :)
4 was my first in the series and i really loved it.
Meme Man I do respect that but if you haven’t you should try far cry 3 endless you don’t feel like wasting your time?
I like Far Cry Primal. It's a break from shooters and has the most refined open world. There's also more skill involved imo to use all the tools at your disposal and survive at the highest difficulties, whereas in FC3+4 it's just aiming for the head with easy guns. In FC:P for example you have the long bow for range, short bow for quick headshots, and double bow for oh-shit DPS. The main negative of the game is progression walls and getting overpowered forcing you to play on difficulty where you die in a couple hits
Thats great, but it shouldn't be a FC game. Stand alone would be wonderful, but it just doesn't deliver as a FC.
Patrick a name shouldn't ruin an experience. for example if alien was called xenomorph you wouldnt let it ruin the movie
Max Richards what hes saying is it doesnt deliver on its name, what ifa movie was called fast and furious but it has nothing to do with the previous movies, its a disconnect.
Very nice video, it's well done and I enjoyed it. You've earned a new sub.
I love far cry 3 its just that im wondering at the end of the game did Jason went home or just stay? only when u do the good ending
Far Cry 2, the best thing about you was your map and it _Never_ taking me out of the game XD
Far Cry 3 was the best in my opinion. The Blood Dragon DLC was also great, I loved that the whole thing was just a parody of 80's action movies. I loved it.
Im between primal and 5. I’ve never played a Farcry so the “repetitive” argument doesn’t apply to me.
Any suggestions?
Nice show. Watched and Thanks for sharing your wonderful videos
Far Cry was good
Far Cry 2 was boring but was visually very immersive in terms of its gameplay and realism
Far Cry 3 has great story and great gameplay
Far Cry 4 was good in terms of gameplay, story, music, realism, however, felt too similar to 3
Far Cry Primal was really good because of how unique to was and the graphics are absolutely stunning, however, it lacks in having an engaging story but makes up for it in survival mode.
Overall Far Cry is a great franchise and hope it continues strong.
Sticks = Unique
or was it just a AAA cash in on the survival game genre popularized by indie devs?
Master Of Recipe blood dragon??
3 honestly has a terrible story it just has a really great villain. I loved 3's story as a kid but when i replayed it last year I literally laughed out loud a couple times at how dumb it was. And when I replayed 2 I realized it's story was better and the game is deep and fun asf.
Oda Dayu Good point, I agree with your assessment.
3 was the best , a beautiful experience and anyone who has played 4 will love 3
why no section on Instincts or instincts: predator? and only one mention of Blood Dragon?
FarCry 1 easily the best, remember seeing those visuals for the first time and in a shooter the feeling of freedom walking around a completely open env without boundaries, choppers passing by overhead. The game looked and played amazing and was about £15 at the time. Often went back to it when other AAA shooters couldn't cut it. The water visuals at the time, the weight and look of the guns was perfect and no problem with enemy AI even had a great story that left you to it. It's the reason I bought my first gaming pc
I played all of the far cry games, and I think 4 is by the best one.
nick roberts I liked farcry 3's story more but 4 has more story choices, like waiting for pagan min at the start of the game or siding with either Sabal or Amata where the missions were different, it gave the game more replay value so I think it's the best too
I hate these fucking false positive reviews by reviewers who make pointless arguments. Make up your fucking mind and then post a full length video.
Great video. I've only recently discovered your channel. You got good quality content, you'll go far ;)
7:38 Montanna Paint. little did he know how much he foreshadowed the next entry in the series
I loved Far Cry Primal. When you play on Survivor/Survival mode, it's an incredible experience, especially when you're hunting at night --you're actually afraid
Everyone hates it because it shouldn't have been a FarCry game. If it were called something else, it would've been a formidable game in our eyes. It's similar to the NFS Most Wanted 2012 scenario. It would be a good Burnout game, but putting the NFS title on it was a slap in the face.
Just how I feel about Fallout 4.
My favourite was Far Cry 4 the most! The story made me think what was right and what was good. I even was thinking of joining the villian. Pagan Min best villian too.
Honestly in my opinion, however similiar 3 and 4 are, 4 was by far my favorite. Gameplay and even the hunting were a lot more enjoyable as well. Not to mention I think Ajay was a way better protagonist rather Jason.
Far Cry 3 was a great game so why is it bad that it is so similar? FC4 has better graphics, better environment, more "events" in the open world and i really enjoyed the story
There are only villains in Far Cry 4. Even given you take the least bloody route and just inherit the country there is no sign Ajay will do anything better than any of the other options.
Your channel is doing so good damn always getting more veiws than subscribers keep it up you deserve it
Farcry 4 story is actually incredibly well done. I realised this when I played farcry 4 through again. Understanding the story and collecting all mohan ghale journals makes you realise how well written it is. It may not be as good as 3 but I feel it deserves more credit than it gets
Far Cry 2 was underrated and its arguably the best in the series. There, I said it. Shoot me.
BANG
Oh did you say Far Cry TWO? Oh gee no I completely agree with you... sorry
NihilisticIdealist But these friggin regenerating outposts. That is what killed the game for me.
I admit, the respawning guard posts were annoying, but the rest of the game made up for it.
i_see_what_you_did_there.jpeg
NihilisticIdealist *Cocks gun* Well, if you say so. *Pulls trigger*
I gotta say, I loved Far cry 3 because Vaas. That villain was astonishing and his script amazing.
And somehow I miss the monsters from Far Cry 1...They had something special. Good times.
Plan to do a review on Far Cry 5 when it's out? Just wondering.
I noticed from the button prompts on the FC3 gameplay that you play left handed mouse, interesting.
Am I the only one who liked Primal? Everyone is always dissing it but I don't really understand why. It might not have guns and c4 but that's partially what I like about it.
Nothing will top my love for fc3 though...
Nick Woodruff I adore Primal
New trailer is out guys for far cry 5!
what,i'll check now
+Miki Miki no today
Miki Miki those were just teasers bruh
Great, now do one about radical Muslims who take over Sweden.
What do you guys think of the FC5 trailer?
I'm so glad you praised FC2. I loved that game even though it was a little repetitive. The tension was real! I really felt that I had to survive on my own. I felt the desperation when I was running low on supplies. It also had a sense of discovery to it: going up the river, getting lost in the desert and wilderness. I'm not a huge fan of the franchise but that game gave me some absolutely unique memories. If the missions were more varied and already taken checkpoints didn't come back up (that was EXTREMELY frustrating) it would have been a masterpiece.
you sounded so sarcastic at some points lol
Farcry 3 was the best. And I liked farcry 4 cause of the graphics
Riley Pothier I liked it because of the environment. I really like mountains
I liked how you're character is so badass he first kicks the army's ass, moves up to the north and basically smashes the royal guard and than the king (If you choose too)
can you summarize it for me without compromise what is far cry series i don't understand this game is this an open world game??
Nice video. But, my man, why is your interact button / ?
It makes me feel pain...
I actually really enjoyed Far Cry Primal but you hardly gave it a name drop. I liked its progression, characters, setting and overall difficult feel. I by no means consider it a disaster, but quite the triumph, with its uniquely built dialects and survival tone.
Joshua Mullinax I feel the same way, I've only watched 3 and played 4 and Primal, but primal was my favorite by far. My favorite part about the games is the wildlife so maybe that's why I rank it so high, they nailed the prehistoric ecosystem and environment.
The main thing I liked about Primal over the others...the looting. There was enough, but not too much, I really feel like 3 and 4 OVER looted the maps, as a completionist, that can grow rather tedious.
Primal was ass to most of the Far Cry community. At least you enjoyed the game.
+Meme Iselfaneye
Also, a lot of the resources were important long term. Animal fats, meat, wood and stone all were used to make and ignite weapons so that whole aspect didn't die as soon as you got all the upgrades.
Not most, seems about 1/3 thought it was ass, most had it mediocre or better.
Farcry 3>Farcry 2>FarCry 3: Blood dragon>FarCry 4>FarCry>FarCry:Primal
I think you got far cry 3 and far cry 2 mixed up.
Sharky McShark
Perfect
He didn't because Far Cry 2 almost sucks in my opinion. I had the nerve to play it and almost rage quit because enemies spawn like 15 mins after you clear them out from an outpost, no stealth system and while chasing enemy convoys marked on the map, they are usually at the one end of the map while you're at the other and they constantly change directions which means to reach them will tear away at your patience and what not. The only thing I liked about the game were its visuals.
farcry 2 is a shit game
hope y'all get malaria
Very well done video, I agreed with everything you said, great job
Man your videos are awesome
But... but... I liked primal...
Same and I dont it xD
Got to admit it was fun at first but then it just became the same thing over and over again. Just like insanity
Psycho DeadShoT the game itself is a good idea but maybe more weapons and... I dunno I just didn't like it that much
PugSon yeah for one
Ever tried stealthing those cave outposts?
God damn I have not waisted so much time
Guys obviously blood dragon was the best
Far Cry Primal was a pretty fun game I don't know why you call it a disaster
Stick poking Simulator
Christopher Weeden basically a copy and paste of far cry 4
Nathan Kam I mean, I get that the play style and design is the same, but the creativity was pretty awesome. I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to far cry 5 too
Christopher Weeden yeah I thought primal was actually decent, but the devs were just lazy and created the map on top of the far cry 4 map www.google.ca/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/03/03/far-cry-primal-recycled-far-cry-4s-entire-map-layout/amp/
Nathan Kam I can understand why people would be upset. but the game was far from a disaster
I'm not sure there was a great deal of tension between the gameplay and the narrative, in Far Cry 3. In fact, early game has scenes where Jason Brody feels fear and remorse (for killing his first pirate, when skinning dead animals, when climbing his first radio tower, and when preparing to storm the Medusa). To keep those in the game for its entirety would have been far more grating, in my opinion, and I think the developers knew that. Constant fear of the situation wouldn't have made any sense, because it shows no character growth.
The beauty of Far Cry 3 is that you start off with bog-standard weapons and apparel, and through patience and levelling, you become much stronger and much more confident in your abilities. It's a progression that Lost had, and it's also the progression that Arrow had as well, insofar as Oliver Queen starts off as a nervous wreck, but with the help of Slade Wilson, becomes a warrior. I personally like that type of story, because it shows what ordinary people are capable of in extraordinary situations. I think that's what Ubisoft were going for with Jason Brody. The only annoying thing was that they compartmentalised him as this stereotypical soCal hipster/frat boy and then proceeded to do exactly the same with the rest of his friends, making me care absolutely nothing about saving them. And the one person who I actually cared for, Grant, was the first one to die.
And that's where the game really falls down for me. It would have made so much more sense if Grant had been the player character. Wasn't he Army reserve? I think so. Which means: combat training; survivability in harsh climes, e.g. jungles; saboteur knowledge; stealth knowledge; weapons training; explosives training; and general all-purpose training that soldiers undertake. But he was still an ordinary guy and he could still go through the same progression Jason did, but his Rambo-ing would have been much more believable.
Played 5 first, then new dawn, then I moved onto 3. Now playing 2. LOVE the map system and how broken down the weapons are. It’s not as hard as everyone says it is, you just need to know your limits.
Why is there no mention of Far Cry: Instincts? It's still my favorite FC game to this day.
Most people forget that the series was a sci-fi thriller series before Far Cry 2 was made by a completely different team and Crysis was the spiritual successor to the FarCry series.
aww man i loved that game, especially the splitscreen multiplayer
yup, far cry 2 will always be my favourite
Nathaniel Stuart agreed. especially with the weapons jamming
It was punishing and raw. Not many games are like that. And I liked the ending.
Nathaniel Stuart That's becoz you're a women.
No... im a WAHMEN
i remember seeing the fire physics with the grass and just being in awe at the time. a 10/10 game imo
I loved Primal, played it through without ever getting bored. Then again, I do like genres that Far Cry games provide, and I love settings pre-industrial. Giving us a primal world, more 'gritty' and interactive weapons, and a absolutely stunning (I mean gorgeous) world to explore made it a satisfying stand-alone game. Comparing it to the other Far Cry's however does taint it a bit - it lacks depth in its story and the essentials found within games like 3 and 4 (the most popular in public eye), notably vehicles, guns, and an insanely interactive villain. However, on all other aspects Primal was very satisfying, especially the Bird-Man, who I genuinely felt loss for when I shot him. The combination of primitive elements with base Far Cry mechanics did make the game enjoyable and tolerable, honestly it can be considered external to the Far Cry franchise - but the title is what drew in the sales.
*(**4:54**)* I thought that since far cry 3 started with the main character flipping out about having to kill for the first time, ran from most things, and used a pistol, having little to no training on how to survive, it made sense since from there on you slowly got better and better using bigger and better guns and learned how to sneak better, and thought that was beautifully executed with the logical upgrading "tattoo" system, and character progression. I also figured that it had a deeper meaning to it, like "he became this super soldier because the island made him become one" since the games story does have a supernatural "tint" to it.
So we aren't going to discuss how far cry primal sucked ass
WHAT? dude the best formula & the scary shit at night, hell no that shit was dope. Beast companions & all that...
I love far cry 4 so much
Damn, your channel really lives up to it's name.
Which is best if I've never played one before?
Blood Dragon was the very best "new" Far Cry game, where you basically play a fucking Rambo. But in Blood Dragon it fitted so perfectly, I hope Ubisoft takes some time and releases another Blood Dragon like game
Can't wait for 5
"Sees Pegan Min for the first time"
Will you be the father of my babies?
I don't why people were so shocked when they found out that Jason could handle a gun. Jason said that he never "shot anyone before" when the gun was handed to him, he didn't say that he never held a gun before
