I'm glad you play "normal" notes instead of making it sound like Hank Marvin's guitar. Despite what people think this guitar is not build to play purely Shadows music, it is much more versatile as it is shown in this video. Have one of these myself. There's a lot to get from this guitar, starting with build quality which IMHO dwarfs even American Fender, and as you can hear excellent sound it offers. Might not be everyone's cup of tea in terms of looks, but considering how much you get from this guitar I think it is well worth buying. And you don't need to remorgage your house to get one either. Awesome.
My friend just picked a Burns guitar up for 130 Euros at a flea market...I am very impressed to hear how great this guitar sounds although I imagine that in this demo it is being played on a top notch ami with maybe a bit of reverb. Thanks for this excellent review. Man it seems to sound better than my Relic 65 Strat from the Custom Shop :P
Excellent demo; large variation in the available tone settings and this demo is not full of distortion (which is really lovely!).
Nice review and demo, really growing to like this Lewis Turner bloke!
Seen an old music video of the band The Honeycombs, both guitarist we're playing these Burns Marquee Guitars and I loved the sound, so unique.
No they weren't. They were playing 1963 Bison models with Ultra Sonic low impedance pickups.
I've haf one for 55 years
Best colour for a Marquee.
Do you know if a Fender neck would fit on this?
Nice sounding instrument! Sound great!
Had the opportunity to try one last year. Amazing quality, hard to believe they are made in the far east.
Their an alright Guitar but don't expect any customer service.
A very informative review, many thanks! (Lots of the 'pro' ones on YT are dire...)
Just bought one in black with gold trimmings secondhand. Looks great but my god its heavy. I have a brass body resonator and that is actually lighter.
Lewis is a good reviewer, shame we didn't get pristine cleans as many players interested in such a guitar would be looking for
***** Thanks for the feedback Steve, we'll be sure to look into giving some tonal variation moving forward.
Nice guitar with mellow sound
I have a really early Club series guitar in what Fender would call 'Sonic Blue' not a mark on it! Definitely not the pro and no truss rod, states Made in Korea on the back of the neck. Really pretty instrument that has spent the last 20 years in a box, bit of a waste I suppose, but Barry Gibson was an old mate of mine so I bought a blue and red one from him.
i have marquie pro one
I've never owned a guitar with less bite. They just sound flabby no matter what guage string and anything below 10s and they struggle to form the note. Just a tuned fart. Nice looking though and great for bedroom players
I’ve always loved the way these guitars look, but those pickups sound shrill, ratty, and rife with artifacts… truly a poor man’s Strat. Great player, though!
Lose my time here.
Ugly guitars !!!!
james mcbride Beauty is in the eye of the beholder James.
True...I do get a kick out of watching The Shadows, The Searchers, The Honeycombs play these. The problem is, you have to wear a skinny grey silk suit with a black collar and Cuban heel boots to look right playing one !
No you don’t. You can choose your own style
@@bartlettohio The only vid F them I've seen they were playing Burns Black Bisons. A very different animal. I have one as well as several other Burns guitars.
