You need to get Gaz Coombes on board and do a signature model.
I always think of Gaz when I see a Burns. And Brian May because of the pickups.
Gaz also used a blue Tele Plus like Johnny Greenwood.
@@adiohead Also Marty Willson-Piper (formally) of The Church as the first album was all Burns 12 string
And Andy Bell too (Bison Bass)!
I have a 2000s Burns club series. Amazing guitar. For those that dont know. Burns has a long amazing History. They have always been the English Fender.
I've always loved the look of Burns guitars. That headstock is fantastic

Great to see Burns still going in some form or other. I fondly remember Edwyn Collins playing a nu-sonic during Orange Juice's 'Rip it Up' period.
I have to say, they all sound excellent. Very versatile and full. Excellent.
One has to admire that you even try it with the odd ones as well. Thanks for your braveness
You say the push/pull was not on the original Burns but my 20yr old Marquee has push/pull. Great guitar for the price point and very underrated, good to see you are reinventing it. Good work guys
Twenty years old is not original. Try 1960s instead.
Yeah, I had a 1961 Burns Sonic... paid £15 for it secondhand... sold it a couple of years later for £30 when I was scraping round for cash to buy a Vox Continental KB. I thought I was doing well doubling my money on the Burns; but wish I had kept it now... prolly worth about £1k now, d'oh! :(
@@Jammoko
You need to use online inflation calculator to see what you sold it for would be worth nowadays to see the actual picture. 🤔
those are super cool. I love how different they look.
I was a kid when Burns first came out but I do remember them! I think it was in the Selmer catalogue I saw them? Never realised they had a zero fret before. Learn something new every day!
It’s great the consortium is bringing back Burns ! Let’s hope they corner the market by making lefty 12 strings and 6 string basses .. no other manufacturers are doing this they would sell out immediately if they made them.. let’s see if they listen ?? ❤
Amen! You are right man! 🙏
I first wanted a Burns double6, but since it wasn't an option over the past year, dan electro was the only other lefty 12string maker and they are in stock once a year (and very limited numbers!),
So I've been waiting over 7 months for one that won't arrive until September 😅
But still dying to get a double 6 🎸🎸
And no one makes the lefty 6 string bass! 🎸
If/As soon as Burns makes a double 6 and 6 string bass they are both immediate buys!!! 💰💰💰💰
Another classic beat bro keep it coming 💯🤟🏽🤩
Thanks for saving this legendary brand Lee and all! I will for sure be getting a green one!
You guys are awesome! I just bought a fender Meteora after seeing your review
Thanks guys!!! Captain they look sweet. Can't wait to get one.
Love the look of that 12 string and the matching bass...Ugh I WANT I WANT I WANT
Just luv your channel. Super guitars. I learn soo much and enjoy your 1st playing❤
I used to have a 60's Burns Split Sonic with the batwing headstock. I think the rotary switch had Jazz, Treble, Wild dog and Split sound settings. A great guitar which I wish I still had.
I have a custom Burns Nu-Sonic Tele-style that Barry Gibson built for me in about 2005. It’s a reissue of the ‘90s models, only without the piezo bridge and 5-way rotary tone selector; it’s like a Tele with a 5-way pickup switch (it’s got three pickups), volume and tone with a push-pull on the tone control to expand the pickup selections. A great guitar! Greenburst of course. I don’t imagine there are many ‘90s-style Nu-Sonics here in the US, and mine’s one of a kind, I think. I’d also been looking for a Double Six since the ‘60s, but I’ve only seen one for sale in 55 years-a Baldwin-branded one in white, that weighed a ton! I didn’t get that one, but in 2019 I got a Fender Electric XII reissue. Finally found a case for it after a few years; it’s a Crossrock Jazzmaster case that has enough room for the hockey-stick headstock. I don’t know if it would fit a Double Six or not. I got the case on Amazon.
Oh weird I've been looking at these old British guitars all last week, and now this is posted! Really funky looking guitars
I have an old Flyte. Absolutely love it
Love them Burns!!
I had a few Burns Brian May guitars over the years, one of them had an issue. I have to say I had one of the best customer aftercare experiences of any guitar company I have ever dealt with. i hope this is still the same as it was a testament to the nature of the company (also why I had more than one Burns BM) and I never forgot it!
Buy another with confidence... Lee Anderton is part owner of the current Burns company; he will sort any problems for you! ^
YEAH THE BURNS TRISONIC, THE BASS WAS FAB, WELL DONE CAP AND THE BURNS TEAM.
That 30" is 100% of the reason I'm excited to see Burns come back. Good to see some progress!
Yeah, I'd prefer it to have a different bridge but it's got potential to be an absolute beast for doom and sludge
Old Barracudas don't turn up very often...
beautiful guitars
Cool guitars for sure!
Another "wish I hadn't" story: Back in the early 70s I had a Baldwin (Burns) Virginian, an electric hollow-body single cutaway that looked like a dreadnought with 2 pickups mounted at the soundhole. It was quirkly, but I let it go five years later, and wish I would have hung on to it.
Lenny Breau hung onto his for 10 yrs.
Nice pete! It sounds nice & as a bonus, the headstock looks like the hair of an oompa-loompa 😂
Man those are chiming as hell. Really love that 12
I have a previous generation Marquee Bass. Medium scale, nice player. Its a keeper.
those terms are great they stay in tune amazing
Love the Bison guitar
lets just pray that affordable (but quality) gear is on a comeback right now after all those ridiculous post apocalyptic corona price mayhem that just takes away all the fun of collection gear especially the pedal stuff has almost become even more unaffordable than ever before imo. cheers 🎸🎸
Always wanted a Burns. This is the one time I'll get one, once they start getting here in the US
Worth it. I just got my second one. Love them.
That VI Bass sounds rad!
Not a Burns owner(yet!) - but one of the most enjoyable Andertons videos this year - would like to hear Cicci's opinion on the 2 bass efforts - please will someone tell me that I don't need a 12 string Burns.....
Just picked up my second Burns, the red from this video. Lovely guitar. A bit heavier than the previous Marquee but worth every penny.
Full marks for sensible nut widths on the two 12 strings.
Thank god burns is back.... are you making lefty version of the double 6??? Honoring their tradition of lefty versions....
The only reasonable options for lefty 12 string is a dan electro, or a budget gear4music one, and before they dissapeared Burns double6
Dan electro tend to only have 1 shipment of lefty 12s and baritones a year! I have been waiting 7 months and stock isn't due until September!
I emailed burns 7-8months ago and they told me to await a future annocement and i know you have stewardship so please please dont leave us lefties out as it feels like you are since i dont see any lefties on your product listing.
I know there are less of us, but you have not much competition in the 12string market, so if you could capture 50percent or more of rhe lefties then you could make alot of profit, as I know iwant the double6 and a dan electro vintage 12 as the pickups offer 2 completely different sounds..but I can only get the Dano and even then I have to wait to aetember, so any other leftys will also have been waiting almost a year to get it and if they sell out quick they will have to wait another year!
If you can meet demand fasyer than dan electro there's a great gap in the market you could fill as I feel alot of lefties go where they are being serviced, in my case thomman has got all my sales this year, which has included 12 guitars, mulyiple effects pedals, and tonex, stands, cables, ebow, strings etc etc and unfortunately I find you don't offer anything unique to draw my business away from them as they have been cheaper/has stock for my gretsch, 2 epiphone, ibanez, marcus miller 5 string bass purchases and 2 dan electros in september and their harley bentons have fulfilled my needs for other shapes/brands of guitars as I can can modify them with aftermarket pickups from vanson and wilkinson from REVERB...So by servicing my guitar needs thomman captured the business of every other guitar related purchase which might match or exceed how much I spent on guitars this year which has been more than i would like to admit .so it's a massive opportunity to lead into additional sales from lefty customers
But still no one but dano offers a good 12 string so that would be a massive draw
Great! Redburst SSJ for me all the way - all 3 positions sound terrific, they have their own character. I hope they find their way over to HK!
First got turned onto The Shadows in 1964. Burns Marvin into a Vox AC 30 in Abbey Road Studio #2. Burns sound has been my touchstone ever since. I've know for a long time that Cris Stien of Blondie owned a Burns Scorpion, but I have never been able to come across any info reguarding that match up. If anyone could post something related -- I for one, 19:50 would be interested...
Pete's shoes look like his guitar, lmao, classic.
I got 3 burns, two relics in slight (ie massive) need of attention and a great 1963 Short Scale Jazz. It came with two Trisonics but stole a pickup from a Nu-Sonic and fitted that in the middle. It has some Brian May type wiring with push/pull vol & tone knobs plus a polarity reversal switch some previous owner fitted. The shortscale-ness somehow emphasises lower tones so it sounds huge, also allows super high bends and light touch vibrato. Can I pls suggest you collaborate with a couple of fine English luthiers to create a high end Burns Custom shop line. Done right, these will go for £2-4k a piece (speaking as someone who bought new PRS Custom 24, Gibson Les Paul, Fender USA Strats).
One of the first electric guitars i played was a fiesta red burns just like that but one of the og ones. My friend's guitar teacher lent it to him. It was awesome. I wish i could play that guitar with the skills i have now 😓
Amazing looking instruments. Me (bassist) and the guitarist from my band want to get matching Burns instruments for festival season next year. 👌🏻 😎
Hope the new Burns guitars have the rezotube trem systems and more original bridges or something as close to it as they can get. IMO that’s part of what makes it a Burns.
I love your videos but watch them mainly for their entertainment purposes (they are quite entertaining). BUT OMG the short scale 12-string SPEAKS TO ME.
please let me know as soon as there is a Billy Bragg Burns Steer replica available!!
Red one reminds me of my first guitar Watkins Rapier 44 ☺️
in the 70s Burns made a flight . a bass and a 6 string, gold or silver was the only option playing those burns brought back the memories, never seen one since then
I'll be interested to see where the brand goes under new captaincy (pun intended: Lee is one of the new owners, so you may want to look elsewhere for criticism)
I have a cobra from back before the change in ownership and it's legitimately incredible for the money.
If the new ones live up to that level of quality I would recommend checking them out
Great video, guys! I’m a bass playing Canadian expat who’s been living in South Korea for a long time. I also like to play regular guitar for fun. I bought a couple of 2000’s Korean made Burns guitars from a guitar shop here Incheon a long time ago: a Burns Flyte in gold finish with a factory installed Floyd Rose and Burns humbuckers and a red Marquee S Club series guitar with a flame maple top. I bought the Flyte as curiosity. I don’t think many of them were made and it was very inexpensive. I think if you were looking for something to add to the list of Burns guitars, a remake (re-imagining? Maybe not with the Floyd Rose) of the Flyte might be good. (Personally, I would prefer a Strat scale length to the Les Paul scale length on the one I have, but that’s just me.)
Just as a comment on the Marquee S that have, I like the flatter neck that it has. The neck is a C shape on the back and it makes it a bit thick, but as a 5 string bass player, that doesn’t bother me at all. I find the finger board to be very smooth and very fast. I bought the guitar new for a price at the time that would be in the range of $200 or perhaps in the neighbourhood of maybe 180 British pounds. I would say that if you don’t mind the thicker neck, everything on the guitar is all Burns, sounds great, and out-performs guitars over five times what I paid for it originally. So, Yay Burns and Go Anderton’s, Go!
The SSJ Burns has a Gibson 24 3/4 scale and Tri-Sonic PU's. In short it is right into Brian May territory with a shorter scale and the right PU's. It is the cheapest too. At 329 pounds. or about $420.00 USD. Impressive. Damn tempting!
last live show i attended at which a Burns guitar was played was a Wedding Present gig about 10 years ago.
Didn't see any Bison here - hope it'll be also added back to the line, love the Bison (as well as the Marquee)
These look awesome, I have 2 reservations, 1- what material is the 0 fret made of, if it’s nickel I’ll need a luthier on retainer! 2-does the marques and the SSJ fit in a Strat/generic gig bag and case? Cheers Monkey
I like these. They remind me of the mid 70s Teisco stuff
Next Andertons contest idea: Guess how many different colored watches Danish Pete owns! ;) I really enjoy these product reviews with DP. He shreds proper!
I would buy that last 12er but I’d like one with a wiggle stick, I know people always bang on about tuning issues but a 12er with a wiggle stick would sound incredible if used gently and only occasionally. I’ve never understood the reluctance people have about tuning 12ers, if you have decent machineheads it’s never an issue, I own 3 and I never no issues with tuning any of them.
Greg Kihn had a tremolo on his 12, I often marveled about that, but my old six-string Phantom came out of the case in tune more often than not... I wonder if the zero-fret helped.
You have me at a distinct disadvantage I’m afraid, I’ve not heard of Greg Kihn, I should look him up. I’m not sure I can be too specific but I’d say there may be many factors that effect tuning but environment and machinehead quality are probably the most important factors.
Please do some of this gear reviews and demos standing up while playing
I bought one of the green 12strings from NZ about 10 years ago. Lovely guitar and an absolute steal at the price as i paid about this back then. Grab one NOW They are the easiest electric 12 string to play as well
Sounded sick with the gain here imo. Love those trisonics
Really good looking guitar too, seems like a good buy to me!
I had a red one but I didn't like the zero fret...I still wish I had I it tho
Thunderbirds Are Go ! The Lee & Pete puppets are so life like. Cliff Richards & Hank Marvin. Shooting Star.
I have a burns cobra my bassist was good enough to give me and it's amazing I use it every gig for everything. We are I'm a four piece bass, drums and 1 guitar and the sound being something in between a strat and a P90 that thicker sound help fill the sound better
That 6 bass is amazing! I wish there was a lefty version!
You lefties get left out a lot by the guitar world. Pun intended. 😂😂😂
Burns have had a tradition of left handed models even in multiple colours! ....but its not been honoured with this run....hopefully for the next one.
I am i love with the green bass VI... I saw it out of stock on your website, will it ever come back ? :'(
Ah this has been in the works for quite a while. 😊
I played a squire bass VI a while ago, but picking up a burns today it’s just a better guitar, the neck profile is very comfy, as is the body and it sounds great.
I have a Burns London Steer Cutaway from early 2000s
Are you going to bring back the non cutaway Steer? I really miss mine, great guitar.
Love the sound of that little sister!
I was so proud when Burns endorsed me all those years ago. (Thank you Barry Gibson) I miss that sound.
Jim Burns was one of those classic, under-appreciated, eccentric English geniuses, so I’m delighted the brand is having another renaissance. Flip-side is that inevitable disappointment that it’s always the more familiar/conservative body shapes that get reissued, instead of the more idiosyncratic shapes like the Steer (Gawd bless Billy Bragg), the Nu-Sonic and Burns’ last design, the Scorpion. Hope that the later products Lee refers to manage to capture a bunch of that off-the-wall design chic.
Holy mother of all that is holy, I need a Scorpion!
Nice touch to use repro knobs like the originals'. The reissues didn't have those.
I see Pete's been changing his pedalboard up again! 😂
Hello Anderton chaps. Back in 1965 1966 I worked for Burns in the Romford factory. Also did a short stint in Sales at Buckhurst Hill and Tottenham Court Road.
I never liked those scratch plate extensions. The bits on the horns. Much prefer the single piece like on the Jazz model.
If you are looking to redesign maybe you could look into the scratch plate.
Hi . I think that the Burns Marvins were far superior than the Fender Strats, I love that nasel sound they give off. I bought a Burns Marvin bass guitar back in 2007 the best bass guitar I've ever played and its still going strong after all these years. Bring back the Burns guitars I say. Alan Merseyside /England.
I've always associated Burns guitars with The Honeycombs (both guitarists ad the bass player used them) which is kind of apt since Lee looks like he should be a member of that band.
What about the bass? The burns black bison for example ... would be nice!
I really do want a Jazz IV now.
I was wondering if a regular gator guitar case would work or does Burns have one available?
So, do I understand correctly that the Captain [and by extension, Andertons] is now directly involved with three different guitar makers? Chapman, Eastman and Burns? Impressive!
Let's go boys!
Nice of Pete to wear shoes that match the guitar.
When there be 2024 Burns models as well as UK made ones?
Nice guitars. The one thing i see being an issue is the jack...it really would be better on the side, not the face.
Looking forward to what you’re cooking up for Burns in the future. These look good.
One request suggestion if I’m allowed. Please sell tri sonic pickups separately. So hobby builders can make their own Red Specials.
If I were marketing these I'd make sure that you had a video of someone using the ssj vi bass to play loathe or something doom metal. I know you have a guy for that 😉
Would probably need to be restrung for the video, but the trisonics should excel at that kind of sound because they'll sit between the jaguar pickups in the bass vi and the pickups in the baritone jazz master used by the two guitarists.
Any Lefties? Please 🙏🏻
the 12 string in green looks good.
would love to acquire one.,. unfortunately the delivery fee is more than the price of the guitar :(
Wish they did Jazzmaster trems on the Marquees
7:45 That's it, the best joke you're ever going to make.
Steer for me please, in ivory! Cheers!
my mate's got an original early 60's bison - it's an awesome guitar if you're an Olympic weight lifter
Why no left handed versions Burns always offered these please say there will be some coming out I’m ready to buy one now!
Secondhand ebay lefthand Burns, here you come!
I had a Bison bass that I bought from Macaris on Charing Cross Road in 2007... great tone but weighed a ferking ton.
id buy a reissued white bison bass when it comes out
Hi, if you built the blue and red jet sonic I’d buy one today. Just saying
I think it’s time to sell my squire bass vi and get one of these!
Subjective I know and I hate to be negative but they are grotesque, definitely not for me, someone will love them and that's cool also.
I don't think you hate being negative as much as you make out. You could, of course, have just kept your "grotesque" comment to yourself if you dislike pumping negativity into the world. But...
@@pepmasters-999 take a day off mate!
It’s the grotesque-ness that I dig. The extra pickguards, the wonky horn. I just wish they brought back the weird, clunky, backyard looking vibrato systems.
@@Rigel7WasAlreadyUsed There's something out there for everyone amigo. I will say it is refreshing to see something different that's for sure.
