It’s interesting to see all of the repairs made over the years. The fuel line out of the mechanical pump is a situation that is very common.

I put #16 heads on my 77 400 and it was alot lot lot faster. The 6X heads are 115cc chambers . The #16 are 72cc. Big difference

Man I could bought a 77 can am back in 98 and I didn't because I was so hung up and dedicated to T/As. Really like the can am now and today they are out of my reach unlike 25 years ago when 1500-2000 would get a running and driving Bird.

Would love to have seen a more low-key, spreadbore version on a dual plane intake because without the valavetrain and exhaust to back up that top-end, it’s likely not going to be really strong down low like you need to get 4k lbs moving.

It has Ram Air exhaust manifolds and dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers.

Just wish you had run this car BEFORE all the work was done on the EFI, so we could get a before comparison on how this ran before efi.

Gee do ya think the twisted pinched fuel line might have been why the owner wasn't happy with the Demon carb?

Hey, did I see RA manifolds on them heads? And it looks like #5 exhaust port has a "6" cast into it, but can't see what the #3 port is. Are they 16s (?), (like a 68 GTO head?). Wasn't much of a fan of them Can Ams back then, but it looks much better, (45 yrs later). But I'll take mine sans AC, with a QJ, Muncie, and a 3.42 gear. :)

Yes. RA exhaust manifolds and 1968 #16 cylinder heads.

I am installing a holley sniper on my 1971 Olds 442 with 455 and also trying to keep the the power source clean what did you do with the pink wire
The first new car i bought was a 1976 Trans Am with 455 4 speed and every option available at the time i loved that car but very sad to say i was driving thru a intersection at night and a guy driving a 66 dodge ran the red light and hit me at the right rear wheel spun me around but he was able to drive off my car was disabled again very sad the car was only a 1 old it was fixed but was never right so it went away

We have a 72 T/A 4 speed with the 455HO engine. Since the installation of the Holley sniper the refuses to run at an acceptable temperature. Even with a 160 thermostat it will run right up to 210 or higher with the A/C on. This is totally unacceptable. So, my opinion of the Holley sniper system is very low. This engine was always capable of running cool and strong. It has to be something with the F.I. kit Holley provided. So far customer service is far from adequate. Right now, I wish I had not done this to our car. It has been in the family since 1975 and has been sidelined for over a year now. Garbage from our experience.

Curious to know where you are seeing the higher temps. Is it in your factory/aftermarket gauge or is it on the Holley monitor? If the Sniper is actually the cause of the higher temps, it could be due to the engine running too lean or, if you are using timing control, it could be from not enough timing. Feel free to contact us. Maybe we can help. 262-818-4029, ttaperformance@gmail.com
