This is the way. Especially if you focus on singleplayer games. Then there is no need to buy these unfinished, buggy, expensive games at launch. Just play something from the backlog or gamepass and get these games when they're fixed and on sale. The game was never unfinished. This title seems like clickbait, although it's a good video. And if you would have watched the video, you would have heard that they said the game was not unfinished. They just went in and changed decisions that people weren't happy with. The game was finished on launch and actually didn't have any bugs either. I played for 50 hours and maybe had one crash and no game breaking bugs at all. And if I'm being honest, some of the changes they made didn't really need to be made. They were made by people who wanted a completely different game

That's the thing though, this video is misleading and kind of pisses me off because the features that they're changing weren't things that were unfinished or bugs. They're just features that people didn't like the direction of so they changed them for us. I don't blame the devs, this is a publisher level "The game needs to be out at x date for our bonuses" It sucks for consumers and developers. At least Outlaws was functional, and I think it should be applauded that devs still want to make the game they were prevented from by the publisher
There was a ton of bugs and it was unfinished game. Some elements of the game sucked and so yes it needed fixed. I may buy when they get everything lined out if they bring put a physical disc maybe with all fixes and updates and maybe DLC. Also i would like to see more varied outfits. FOR more people. Some more feminine outfits also would be nice. Everything doesn’t have to be tomboyish. If you want people to play more their way. I would play if it gets better for me that i see . For sure

At this point there needs to be a law put in place to protect us consumers. Game should have to meet a certain level of quality before they can be sold. I'm not talking about patches but certain games like Cyberpunk, GTA Trilogy,etc should have to face some kind of legal backlash for how the games were released.
Good on them for investing in a game post-launch, but it doesn’t fix the fundamental problem that games are released in an unfinished state. I won’t pick this up until a deep sale and the fixes are in place; and more people are doing the same about every triple-A release these days. This is not a sustainable practice. Finish the game and then release it; the long term financial and PR cost of fixing a game post release is infinitely greater than pre-release beta testing and development time.

I won't be too harsh, after watching Play, Watch, Listen, it's the reality of game development. It has to be released at a certain time to please the investors. They're only hurting themselves, just teaching us to buy the games at a later date and when it's cheaper.

You guys really hit the nail on the head here. These systems with the guns and stuff wasn't a bug or unfinished, these were actual choices they made for the direction of the game. If you just had a full arsenal of weapons that your disposal in this game it would be no different from a Divinity or a wildlands or whatever and it would be boring. The whole point of only really having your blaster is not only so that when you get these other weapons they really feel meaningful and exciting, but also because of the themes of the game. The character is a Smuggler scoundrel type. And anybody who's ever watched Star Wars knows that the scoundrel types have their dedicated signature blaster. And that's all they need. It's even said in the movie so while I guess I'm glad that they listen to Fan feedback because it is nice that you can take sniper rifles up to a better location than when you found them, I'm very glad they didn't just make it to where you can have all the weapons equipped infinitely because that would have really ruined the feel of the game. This game isn't a bad game, people just want it to be a completely different game. And that really pisses me off because I love this game and I will never get a sequel because of the way people are reacting to it
Stop buying games at launch! If we keep buying the unfinished games, publishers won't allow for games release dates to be pushed back, and finish the games. It sucks that we've reached this point, but it's not that hard to save the money and buy later, after reviews are out. The price is to high for this game, 130 euro's for the Ultimate edition. I think if they had asked 70 euro's for the Ultimate. 60 for the deluxe and 50 for the standard edition it would have sold more copies. Even if the game was good at launch there are not al lot of gamers that are going to pay 130 euro;s for a ultimate edition
I have the standard edition, optimisation of the game is not top, have a very high end gaming pc with a 4090, but do not very high framerates on 4k with dlss on quality. The only way to get better fps is by turning off Ray Reconstruction. While they say the minimum card you need is a 4070. On native 4k without dlss the framrate is even below 30 in 4k. And the game still crashes a lot.
12:29 that's stupid. They make games hoping to make money. They stuck by the guns by releasing the game in a piss poor state, and it FAILED. They lost all of their stock value by sticking to their guns. Now they have to pay MORE to fix the trash they released and pray people buy it or they are in even worse shape. They HAVE to make money; that's what a company is designed to do. Sticking by their guns got Assassin's Creed pushed back so they could try and salvage that mess. You clearly value the message over the intent, which is to make money. They failed with both.
I do agree that companies should give us good and complete games. But I also believe that if they show interest in fixing their mistakes, well, they deserve a second chance. No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 are great examples of that. It's just a matter of publishers giving developers the time they need!
Thing is the likes of splinter cell are well known stealth games. That’s a big part of their selling point. I love splinter cell and wish a new one would be made. But something with “outlaws” in its title should not be forcing you into stealth ever because that’s not what a badass real outlaw would do. There’s very little in that game that actually lets you do stuff an outlaw would do.

Artists don't ask for opinions and they live or die by that, however this is not "art", it is a objectively weak experience with horrific AI and poor stealth elements and for that they should absolutely be tweaking this game.
Ubi puts all their games on sale for half off less than two months after release. They will do everything in their power to kill their own day one sales numbers
I agree with Josh, I would rather that studios did more closed betas among different groups of people in later stages of development and make needed changes prior to release. Then posy launch, concentrate bug fixes and not fundemental changes.

I might have to buy it after these updates, I didn’t like the forced stealth or the fact that you don’t carry guns. To see that they fixed it, might have to give them my money
Things I would like them to add is special bounties or wrld events like Rampaging Rancor on Tatooine or a higher Wanted level with an Inquisitor sent to bring you down and free fire on the speeder. Lastly I would like crafting on the ship for weapons with bonuses to higher ammo count to weapons so you can take one with you instead of just drops from enemies.
I'm absolutely terrible at stealth, so the old "it's still stealth if no-one is alive to talk about it" method is good for me. and I do like some of the changes they've made (though please for the love of God add the ability to switch the analog controls around without having to go "defaultleft handed southpaw" when going from on foot to the ship, just to reverse only those two controls), but I enjoyed the game and still return to it to do some contracts and walk around in case I happen upon some intel.
I’m enjoying the new patch but changing the whistling mechanic is a mistake I think. Forced stealth isn’t good but the change is making stealth all but impracticable
Unfinished game. Need more heavy improvements to looks like an AAA game. There are a lot of settings to adjust like: more customization, more vehicles (or stole the civilians), clever AI, carry weapons inside cities… Edit: Of course better melee movements and combat. There are a lot of multiple types of melee weapons in Star Wars (apart from lightsabers).
About Josh's comment about being OK with it if they call it Early Access and still charge full price...I mean there's a reason people are starting to call the practice "paying to beta test." Outlaws itself fell victim to this: pay to play early, and you couldn't, because the game wasn't in a viable state. It's becoming the new expected process of development: release it early, and put out a roadmap with an obligatory "We hear you" Supporting the game after launch and finishing the game after launch are two very different things. Cyberpunk, No Man's Sky, even A Realm Reborn are examples of how fixing/overhauling a game after launch can be successful, and developers or, more likely, publishers, are starting to get cozy to that idea.
As a consumer who hasn’t played the game yet this update has reinvigorated my interest in outlaws. As the hype from Sparking Zero is pretty much dead at this point, I realized I’m not really playing it anymore. I’m waiting for the physical release of Black Myth so why not trade in sparking to try the improved version of outlaws in the mean time🤷🏾♂️

No one "demanded " Ubisoft make changes to the game. They took it upon themselves because of soft sales and more likely the devs are trying to fulfill their vision of the game that was not realized because of time constraints. And using ME3s finale as your example of sticking with your artistic vision? Really? People were upset (and rightly) because the original ending was insulting. It didn't attempt to tie up so many loose ends that it was obvious there was no vision. They just wanted it to end. By your very own logic, EA should have kept loot boxes in Star Wars Battlefront because that was the game they wanted to make.
I loved the game pre overhaul. The only real issue I had was Kay's voice actor not being convincing enough conveying her insecurity to confident character arc
I totally disagree with you guys. Is this ubisoft? When you bought a ubisoft game, you knew that if it was broken or not good, they would patch it. It's like you forgot the whole ps4 and Xbox One era. People complained about division having tanky enemies, and the bugs. They fixed it all and took those ideas into division 2. They are still working on division 2 expansion because they have been hard at work with the engine. For honor was broken and not working. They changed it to be better across the board. Don't even get me started about rainbow six siege. Ubisoft used to fix their games and always made them better. Your memory loss makes you not realize that ubisoft would change games for the better. Changing full on gameplay and only day one players would know these changes.
The problem with Ubisoft (and Bethesda) is that they've genuinely found a fun gameplay loop that can essentially be copy-pasted over and over, but they're just really bad with the polish to adapt it to different settings. Outlaws is basically Assassin's Creed in the Star Wars universe, and it's a fun idea and fun game when it works. The problem is that the setting of Outlaws uses guns vs. Creed's swords, so the coding for aiming and camera angles is all janky, and things like speederbikes are also uncharted programming territory since Creed's horses were just transportation and not part of combat. It's sad that people flock to buy into a mess of a game only to get disappoined, but it's hard to blame them when the concept and bones of the game are exactly what everyone wants.
@wobblegong The thing is, this was made by the division devs. So expectations were closer to that game. Division is an amazing franchise with good ai. I think those guys were on vacation for star wars outlaws. Makes no sense at all.
Ubisoft seems to constantly overestimating sales and getting more and desperate to meet those sales. I am a huge SW fan and did not buy right away because their pricing scale is ridiculous. Every game is released unfinished so why pay full price for an incomplete game.
They should have just done a Mandalorian game. They wouldn't have needed to change all that much from what they ended up making. With a mandalorian there's a ton of upgrades that could be a part of the game mechanics. Armor, weapons, tools, ship, all could have been upgradeable. Start off as a bounty hunter, going around a small group of planets hunting down your targets and then some big event happens which sends you all through the galaxy. To go deeper into the galaxy you need upgrades and money which requires you to do jobs and favors for the people you meet. Could have been something great.
I played 4/5 hours of outlaws then got bored. I tell you now though I would have played the hell out of your suggestion here for days. This sounds a lot more enjoyable idea than outlaws was.
@cpaulc089 Just having a kick ass main character would have given the game a huge push in the right direction. I've got no problem playing female characters, but she was just boring. A bad ass mandalorian with beskar armor, a beskar spear, flame thrower, grapple claw, jet pack, and a range of different blasters? Yeah, way fuckin better.
The game would def benefit from having customization options for other weapons. If not that then every enemy should drop their gun after a fight to give the player some options. What sort of outlaw only has one weapon proficiency? Let’s not forget Hans pistol was basically a modified rifle without the stock, Kay’s blaster is far from that.
Ive stopped buying big AAA games at launch, entirely. My backlog keeps me busy until these buggy new releases are patched and updated, and on Sale.

They lost all of their stock value by sticking to their guns. Now they have to pay MORE to fix the trash they released and pray people buy it or they are in even worse shape. They HAVE to make money; that's what a company is designed to do.
Sticking by their guns got Assassin's Creed pushed back so they could try and salvage that mess. You clearly value the message over the intent, which is to make money. They failed with both.
Can they patch it so Kay looks like Humberly González rather than having the big chin cave-girl look.

I do agree that companies should give us good and complete games. But I also believe that if they show interest in fixing their mistakes, well, they deserve a second chance. No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 are great examples of that. It's just a matter of publishers giving developers the time they need!

Forced Stealth games aren’t boring games unlike most games they require a bit of logical and tactical thinking.
Thing is the likes of splinter cell are well known stealth games. That’s a big part of their selling point. I love splinter cell and wish a new one would be made. But something with “outlaws” in its title should not be forcing you into stealth ever because that’s not what a badass real outlaw would do. There’s very little in that game that actually lets you do stuff an outlaw would do.

I got this with black friday deals only because I've heard this changes. Were the game stayed the same i Would have waited longer for a better deal but this makes it appealing at the current price tag. So yeah, good idea doing this

Artists don't ask for opinions and they live or die by that, however this is not "art", it is a objectively weak experience with horrific AI and poor stealth elements and for that they should absolutely be tweaking this game.

I agree with Josh, I would rather that studios did more closed betas among different groups of people in later stages of development and make needed changes prior to release. Then posy launch, concentrate bug fixes and not fundemental changes.

I don't buy new games anymore, I'll wait about a year after lunch and the pick it up for $20 bucks.
Things I would like them to add is special bounties or wrld events like Rampaging Rancor on Tatooine or a higher Wanted level with an Inquisitor sent to bring you down and free fire on the speeder. Lastly I would like crafting on the ship for weapons with bonuses to higher ammo count to weapons so you can take one with you instead of just drops from enemies.
When you make a game that only a critic can love you either adapt it to the broader audience or ignore it and stop all support.
I'm absolutely terrible at stealth, so the old "it's still stealth if no-one is alive to talk about it" method is good for me. and I do like some of the changes they've made (though please for the love of God add the ability to switch the analog controls around without having to go "defaultleft handed southpaw" when going from on foot to the ship, just to reverse only those two controls), but I enjoyed the game and still return to it to do some contracts and walk around in case I happen upon some intel.
Well do not mix up the term art with gameplay mechanics, two different things but yes should have been done before release.
I’m enjoying the new patch but changing the whistling mechanic is a mistake I think. Forced stealth isn’t good but the change is making stealth all but impracticable
Unfinished game. Need more heavy improvements to looks like an AAA game. There are a lot of settings to adjust like: more customization, more vehicles (or stole the civilians), clever AI, carry weapons inside cities…
Edit: Of course better melee movements and combat. There are a lot of multiple types of melee weapons in Star Wars (apart from lightsabers).
About Josh's comment about being OK with it if they call it Early Access and still charge full price...I mean there's a reason people are starting to call the practice "paying to beta test." Outlaws itself fell victim to this: pay to play early, and you couldn't, because the game wasn't in a viable state. It's becoming the new expected process of development: release it early, and put out a roadmap with an obligatory "We hear you"
Supporting the game after launch and finishing the game after launch are two very different things. Cyberpunk, No Man's Sky, even A Realm Reborn are examples of how fixing/overhauling a game after launch can be successful, and developers or, more likely, publishers, are starting to get cozy to that idea.

As a consumer who hasn’t played the game yet this update has reinvigorated my interest in outlaws. As the hype from Sparking Zero is pretty much dead at this point, I realized I’m not really playing it anymore. I’m waiting for the physical release of Black Myth so why not trade in sparking to try the improved version of outlaws in the mean time🤷🏾♂️

Patches and dlc r NOT an excuse to release an unfinished product. And in law, if they sell u a product as complete and functional, that turns out to be neither of those, they can be sued
No one "demanded " Ubisoft make changes to the game. They took it upon themselves because of soft sales and more likely the devs are trying to fulfill their vision of the game that was not realized because of time constraints. And using ME3s finale as your example of sticking with your artistic vision? Really? People were upset (and rightly) because the original ending was insulting. It didn't attempt to tie up so many loose ends that it was obvious there was no vision. They just wanted it to end. By your very own logic, EA should have kept loot boxes in Star Wars Battlefront because that was the game they wanted to make.
I loved the game pre overhaul. The only real issue I had was Kay's voice actor not being convincing enough conveying her insecurity to confident character arc

I totally disagree with you guys. Is this ubisoft? When you bought a ubisoft game, you knew that if it was broken or not good, they would patch it. It's like you forgot the whole ps4 and Xbox One era. People complained about division having tanky enemies, and the bugs. They fixed it all and took those ideas into division 2. They are still working on division 2 expansion because they have been hard at work with the engine. For honor was broken and not working. They changed it to be better across the board. Don't even get me started about rainbow six siege. Ubisoft used to fix their games and always made them better. Your memory loss makes you not realize that ubisoft would change games for the better. Changing full on gameplay and only day one players would know these changes.
The problem with Ubisoft (and Bethesda) is that they've genuinely found a fun gameplay loop that can essentially be copy-pasted over and over, but they're just really bad with the polish to adapt it to different settings. Outlaws is basically Assassin's Creed in the Star Wars universe, and it's a fun idea and fun game when it works. The problem is that the setting of Outlaws uses guns vs. Creed's swords, so the coding for aiming and camera angles is all janky, and things like speederbikes are also uncharted programming territory since Creed's horses were just transportation and not part of combat. It's sad that people flock to buy into a mess of a game only to get disappoined, but it's hard to blame them when the concept and bones of the game are exactly what everyone wants.
@wobblegong The thing is, this was made by the division devs. So expectations were closer to that game. Division is an amazing franchise with good ai. I think those guys were on vacation for star wars outlaws. Makes no sense at all.
Star wars needs to drop the rebel-empire canon stuff, go fresh, new locales, new timeline

I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t enjoy the game. But it did need to TLC to it.
Ubisoft seems to constantly overestimating sales and getting more and desperate to meet those sales. I am a huge SW fan and did not buy right away because their pricing scale is ridiculous. Every game is released unfinished so why pay full price for an incomplete game.

They should have just done a Mandalorian game. They wouldn't have needed to change all that much from what they ended up making. With a mandalorian there's a ton of upgrades that could be a part of the game mechanics. Armor, weapons, tools, ship, all could have been upgradeable. Start off as a bounty hunter, going around a small group of planets hunting down your targets and then some big event happens which sends you all through the galaxy. To go deeper into the galaxy you need upgrades and money which requires you to do jobs and favors for the people you meet. Could have been something great.
I played 4/5 hours of outlaws then got bored. I tell you now though I would have played the hell out of your suggestion here for days. This sounds a lot more enjoyable idea than outlaws was.
@cpaulc089 Just having a kick ass main character would have given the game a huge push in the right direction. I've got no problem playing female characters, but she was just boring. A bad ass mandalorian with beskar armor, a beskar spear, flame thrower, grapple claw, jet pack, and a range of different blasters? Yeah, way fuckin better.
I'll definitely pick this up for $5 when it's finished in 5 years!

The last Ubisoft game I bought at launch was AC Unity. Look how that went for me.
The game would def benefit from having customization options for other weapons. If not that then every enemy should drop their gun after a fight to give the player some options. What sort of outlaw only has one weapon proficiency? Let’s not forget Hans pistol was basically a modified rifle without the stock, Kay’s blaster is far from that.
