  • In this video I'm cleaning a MacBook Pro that's used from a smoker for about 4 years and i’m showing you step by how to do it. We can see that the inside isn't terribly dusty, but it can be better. I’m also applying a new thermal paste to the CPU.
    Tools Needed:
    P5 Pentalobe Screwdriver: www.ifixit.com...
    Phillips #000 Screwdriver: www.ifixit.com...
    T5 Torx Screwdriver: www.ifixit.com...

    Spudger: www.ifixit.com...
    Tweezers: www.ifixit.com...
    Arctic Silver ArcticClean:www.ifixit.com...
    or 99.9% isopropil alcohol
    Lint Free Pads
A thermal paste of your choice. I suggest Noctua NT-H1: www.amazon.com...
    Air blaster and brush: www.amazon.com...

I don’t think if most of the people understood what a stellar cleanup job you did. I clean my MBP like you do. Basically I almost wash it OCD like. Loved the video. The only thing and only 1 thing I would do differently is that I would evenly spread the paste just to make sure everything has 100% coverage. Well done 👍🏼

Are you serious? The quantity of paste is exaggerated !!!

Very helpful, thank you for posting. Never would have figured out how to remove the fan.. used less thermal paste than shown but seems like amount people use varies. Thanks again!

    Hello,
I mistakenly wash my macbook motherboard with petrol instead of compressed air. Now the mac doesn't boot. Please how can I do?

That’s a really bad situation right there. I suggest to clean the motherboard with 99.5% isopropyl alcohol and hope for the best...

Wash it with Coca-Cola to remove the petrol. Then wash with tomato sauce to remove the Coke. Continue washing with a series of random fluids (including bodily), ad infinitum or until a miracle reboot happens. This is the scientific method!

Nice job! I just bought a 2013-late MacBook Pro. It works fine. Does it speeds up when you do this ? Any big differences occurs ?

If the processor overheats then thermal throttling occurs. If your thermal paste has been dried out, then in combination with dust inside the vents etc overheating will occur. So yeah if you change your thermal paste and clean the inside from dust, it will probably improve the thermals and eventually the performance. But you have to be very careful when you do the procedure.

@@Simos805 What are you being cautious of while doing the procedure? Anything in particular or just careful to not break anything in general?
      Thank you
