Warren I had just bought the new 16 inch and did not know that it can’t be easily upgraded. Luckily they gave me a chance to return it after close to a month of having it. So it’s been returned and I’ll see if I’ll upgrade the Mac how I wanted. That ram upgrade cost is ridiculous

There is an easier way. I can’t seem to find the video right now but using a heat gun you don’t have to put it in an oven, and it literally only took five minutes. The video is actually done in real time not in fast motion

Is 16GB the most the mobo can support? Could you have used some flux on the original RAM chips to aid in the solder melting? The reconfigured mobo, using the schematic for the original - what schematic did you use to modify the resistor/capacitor layout?
Apple’s strategy of soldering the ram is that when the ram fails, the user will be forced to buy a new MacBook. Such a waste of money. Thats why I don’t like MacBooks and I’ve heard that they also soldered the SSD so if you need more storage it’s either you buy an external drive or you buy a new laptop if you want all your data in the internal drive.

Maybe? The processor supports more. I think that model was sold with more than 16GB. I replaced mine with 4 8GB IC's for 32GB.
