    DESCRIPTION
    Welcome to HowFixit! In this video, I'll take you through a step-by-step guide on how to disassemble MacBook Pro 13 model A1502 (2013, 2014, 2015 version) laptop, clean its fans, and replace the thermal paste. Our comprehensive tutorial will equip you with the knowledge of fixing laptop overheating issues. From disassembling your laptop to cleaning the fan and heatsink from dust and applying thermal paste, we've got you covered. Say goodbye to overheating and hello to improved performance!
    * Laptop Disassembly Guide:
    Disassembling your laptop may seem daunting, but I'll break it down into easy-to-follow steps. You'll learn how to remove the laptop's casing, locate and clean the heatsink and fans, and access to CPU for thermal paste replacement. By following this guide, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your laptop's internals and how to keep it running smoothly.
    * Fan Cleaning Techniques:
    Dust and debris can accumulate in your laptop's fans and heatsink over time, leading to reduced airflow and increased temperatures. I'll show you effective methods to clean your laptop using an antistatic brush and proper handling techniques. By keeping your cooling system clean, you'll prevent overheating and extend the lifespan of your laptop.
    * Thermal Paste Replacement:
    Thermal paste plays a crucial role in transferring heat from the laptop's CPU and GPU to the heatsink. However, over time, a thermal paste can dry out and lose its effectiveness. I'll guide you through the process of removing the old thermal paste and applying a fresh, high-quality one. This step is vital for optimal heat dissipation and temperature management. Don't let an overheating laptop slow you down! Watch this comprehensive guide and take control of your laptop's temperature. By performing regular fan cleaning and thermal paste replacement, you'll ensure smooth operation, prevent hardware damage, and extend the life of your laptop. Hit the play button now and let's get started!

    For anyone doing this you need 2 screwdrivers: One for the outside (five-star screwdrivers: 1.2mm) and one for the inside (Torx T5 screwdriver). This is important as without both you cannot do this.

    • @UnosRecens
      @UnosRecens Рік тому

      You can use pliers and catch screws from the sides, instead of using T5, but it's not really recommended

    Do not put paste on the small PCH die. It's not supposed to have heatsink contact.

      Not really sure about the effects rather than a warmer chip. Might be running a lower clock?

      Everybody is mistaking that as the GPU and it's not. CPU and GPU are together in the square one which needs the paste.

    why are you putting paste on the small die? It is not even under the heat-sink. It is not supposed to have paste on it. The amount of channels I see putting out wrong info on this is nuts. I see it all the time on Windows Laptop vids as well. A cautionary tale here people.

    • @tetra3000
      @tetra3000 Рік тому +3

      Agreed, just took mine apart and there was no paste on the small square die because it intended this way by Apple because there is zero contact with the heat sink, paste is only required on the rectangle die!

      So would it hurt anything or maybe tiny bit help if you add a thin thermal pad to the small one? Just to help with heat or is that bad and it needs to breathe??? Also show I add thermal pad to the ram like in this video? I barely use my mbp mid 2014 and I just wiped it clean no restore and I just left it open at the table I didn’t install anything on it and it runs the fan on high with no apps open.

    The shape of the heatsink that covers the cpu is a square. Shouldn’t we focus the thermal paste to cover that square space rather than the small rectangular cpu shape? When the heat sink is initially removed you can see Apple covers the whole square.

    I don't quite understand why every video I saw puts paste on the small unit. It doesn't touch the heat sink.

    My fan have some issues, it works for a moment and then stops. I've been told that although this is happening , the fan itself have no problem. Do you have any idea of what it might be?

    • @noahbirdrevolution
      @noahbirdrevolution 11 місяців тому

      It should spin up when your cpu is working hard or the ambient temps are high then stop when the CPU is cool enough. As long as the fans are not always running then you are good. My fans spin at full speed non stop while I game, but stop when I close the software and cpu/gpu is not stressed.

    • @noahbirdrevolution
      @noahbirdrevolution 11 місяців тому

      @@vertigoz 212f is about 100c, and that is typically right around the thermal throttle/limit. Once your cpu reaches that it will lower clocks and your fans should be at 100%, but again that is pretty normal on laptops when under load. If you open the laptop and immediately the fans are already full blast then you'll need to clean it out and re apply thermal paste.

      I’m late to the party but it’s the same screw head as all the others inside the case (I used T4) but screws into the head of a much larger one. Keep it separate because it’s got a much wider head.
