    Love the wood-filler, very resourceful; looks great!

      +Ed Richard Much better wood filler than what you can buy at the store. You can match it to your specific wood by using the wood dust from cutting. Thanks for the comment.

    Hmmm, I think I'll build a dozen or maybe more and stack as a wine rack. Can configure into many layouts or in doubles and triples anywhere in the house. Nice...

    This one I like, thanks to Mitch I found Hyezmar’s website and got his plans as well. They’re all not that good, but there are some gems in there that are worth a look.

      I had to wait till I retired !!!! BUT it's brilliant. I get in my "Man Cave." I dismantle palettes and with the wood make all sorts of things I sell like those wine boxes for our local Hospice. I love the work and the Hospice like the money. I wish people with lots of time on their hands would make things for a local charity. Good luck Peter

    Great plan, but did you honestly not have any sawdust finer than the shavings you used to make the woodglue filler?

    Thanks for the great video. Love the idea interlocking sides for support. Can you please tell me what the ingenious wood frame is called that you use to press your side planks together? Thanks

      +Duncan Barrable Thanks! I think you are referring to the wedge clamps I built. They are a simple T-shaped clamp with a wedge that is pushed in to tighten the glued pieces together.

    Amazing! A true craftsman. What do you think would be good to build for a beginner like me? I only have the basic tools...

      +Soheb Shahzad I'd start with a small box. There are many good plans or books out there to help you.

    Beautiful work! One question though? Is there anything else than glue keeping the three horizontal sections together? Maybe I missed a step in the video, but it feels like the top or bottom section could come off if you lift it too fast.

      @IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net  8 років тому

      +Tor Skude I used oak dowels glued into the support pieces and into the side panels to make them stronger.

    Great project! Where did you get the wood separators for between the wine bottles?

    • @IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net
      @IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net  8 років тому +1

      Thanks Barry. The separators were small bits of thin 1/8" plywood leftover from another project.

  • @Chris_L034

    is that a 1/4" plywood bottom?

    • @IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net
      @IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net  7 років тому +1

      +Daniel Hardy I glued and screwed a block of wood to 2 x 2s which had holes drilled out of them. Then I drilled a hole in a small block to accept a dowel. Made some wedges and there you go. ☺

      Thanks I'll give it ago but think you should do a video on how you made it it would be ace to see it

  • @JohnSmith-ki2eq

    What finish did you use?

    • @IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net
      @IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net  8 років тому +1

      +John Smith I used a blend of 1/3 Tung Oil, 1/3 Mineral Spirits, and 1/3 Polyurethane. This was the first project I have used it for. It went on nice and I was able to apply a second coat after about an hour or so. I'll wait until I use it on a nicer piece before I judge how I like it but so far so good.
