Hey guys! Today we met up with Calvin to take a spin in his Pandem Widebody Honda Civic EG Hatch! This is yet another build that goes to prove you don't need 500HP to have a lot of fun on the street, and that all it really comes down to is the driving dynamics and what you feel as a driver behind the wheel. That, and that fact Calvin and his brother have made a great looking car in the process, all from their own garage with not much more than a couple of rattle cans and wrenches. Enjoy!

This car is amazing I recently had to let my eg hatch go in a trade for an Em1. Only reason I did was bcuz my brother decided to surprise me cuz I was obviously going nowhere with my hatch lol.
It's really hard to be an owner of a Civic nowadays. Today your car has to push at least 300 whp to make people appreciate your build. Besides that being harrased every minute because it's "cool" to hate on Hondas.
I love the honesty of this guy. He knows what's up with these cars. They are not fast by any means, but they are quick. And people get mad, because:
If it has no power - you have no chances in the twisties
If it has some power - you have no chances both on the straights and in the corners, sad but true.
If you live in Asia, Civic is one of the most respected car in asia's car culture. I'm still confuse why a lot of american put so much hate on this car
@@muhammadshofwan5309 well, it's not only an American thing. I live in Eastern Europe and I have to deal with VAG and BMW fanboys all the time. Fortunately, the EFs, EGs and EKs become rare on the streets, that way in few years pretty much only enthusiasts will drive them
@@LeBeckStudio great platform forsure. They're fairly common here in America. Only EF's are "rare" to see on the streets, but for the most part EG's and EK's are pretty abundant.
@Sergio Aguirre See, that's what I'm talking about. If you need power to have fun - okay, build your engine to make 1xxx hp, I don't care. But you literally confirmed what I said earlier.
It's easy to make high numbers so you mean nothing if your car can't reach multiple hundred hp figures.
I would love to see people get into the cars with literally no power, so that way they can appreciate every car. I've driven the 320Ci E46 and guess what - it had twice the power of my Civic, but driving it felt literally like driving a boat, because it weight almost equal to two times my Civic's.
I'm building a little 1.3 liter D series that is 75 hp stock at the crank, I want to reach 150 whp. It's not much, but it's the lightest engine ever plus the weight reduction will make that car fly around the circuit.
@Sergio Aguirre Trust me, I know enough about racing them. Again, as I said earlier, I don't care about power. Also, I don't care about high power cars on the track if their chassis isn't ready for that power. And again, you are telling me about H swap, the second heaviest engine possible before the Js. There are plenty swaps like that, most cars are done the worst way (engine swap only or slap a turbo on a totally stock car), hence why Hondas have their reputation. I'm doing this the right way - making my way from the chassis, through the suspension, brakes and AFTER that, to the engine.
I don't know if you live in the States, if yes, then we have a completely different mindstate about the cars. Here in Europe we don't have 300 hp musclecars, rather a 90 hp engines wrapped around tin cans with wheels.

Wet sanding works.
I've painted cars with 98 cent rattle cans from walmart just to see what could be done. Wet sanding made it look shockingly good. Top with a decent clear.

Driving those eg hatches are fun as hell, it’s literally a go kart. Runs good!
That's my dream car. That's almost exactly how I want it set up too. I'd have black rims and red brake rotors. Either B18 Type R or K20 swap . Rear splitter, roll cage and flat bottom also. Maybe AWD K24 w/K20head N/A if money was no option.

i love eg's. great fun lightweight is key. for track use id do a baffled oil pan first. the b and d series like to mid corner oil starvation when going quick enough.
i'm always putting 1l oil above max on race track and its fine.
@@gerem82xx 1L OVER maximum? seems a "bit" much honestly. could be that the crank punches into the standing oil witch can lead do the oil bubbling like a milkshake....

You know, I actually really dig the sound. Its got an anger, some aggression to it. I'm not sure how loud the intake is in person, but it didn't come across so much on video. If I were to give a suggestion, it would probably be to have some more induction sound. But I really like it overall. Well done. 👍

Yeah I see guys at car shows all the time with cars that they've spent so much money on that they're afraid to drive it.
Just today I was at a show were guys were arriving with cars on trailers. I thought to myself what's the point of car that's not driven.

Building my hatch rn, fully built single cam, just waiting on block, head is built with all aftermarket parts, boosted hoping to make 300+ on 20-25 lbs... currently shaving the bay right now almost done. 🤙🏾. I do everything myself 😅
