Michael J. Fox didn’t just suddenly become available for the role. He worked his butt off working Family Ties in the day and BTTF at night and on Saturdays. He got very little sleep during this time. He once told a story that he was trying to find Marty’s video camera on set and was so frustrated until he realized he was on the set of Family Ties. You know what would have been cool?! You know how Martys Dad becomes a best selling scifi writer? Even though George would not have remembered 1950s Marty enough to put 2 and 2 together, but maybe a photo taken at the Enchantment under the Sea dance in their yearbook has Marty in the background, and George sees enough of a resemblance to think "hey! This would be a great plot for my next book! what if that WAS my son time traveling?!" Of course, he wouldn't ACTUALLY BELIEVE that WAS Marty in the 1950s (just a look-a-like) but it could have inadvertently inspired George McFly to WRITE BACK TO THE FUTURE! He'd be totally clueless though that what he wrote was ACTUALLY WHAT HAPPENED! and it could have been a really cool paradox mind f**k type movie. The theory I came up with for how Doc and Marty became buddies was that Doc was a teacher of science at the high school but was fired for secretly performing time travel tests and nearly destroying the school, Strickland then fires Doc and since he was Marty’s favourite teacher he offers to be his assistant as a freelance documenter of his experiments thus setting up the storyline of the first movie and giving a backstory to Marty using his camera to document the first time travel of the DeLorean
@@austinmcwhirter8 The parking lot of Twin Pine Mall early in Bttf 1 was the first time Marty saw that Doc made a time machine out of a DeLorean, but Marty already knew that Doc had been trying to put together some way to travel through time. He just didn't tell Marty til the night at the mall because he was tied up with alot of confusion and experimentation with different ways to construct a time machine, and then all the work it took with him constructing it with the DeLorean. And also, Doc had been working on other experiments such as those clocks we see at the start of the movie. Basically, in the mind of a very busy and experimenting scientist, Doc was just too tied up to be able to and to have time to tell Marty what he was going to do when he still didn't know how he was going to build his time machine. Then Doc made his final decision on using the DeLorean for his time machine about a week before that night at the mall. But then throughout that week he was way too busy to talk to Marty while he pieced together the time travel gadgets with the DeLorean, the flux capacitor, and arranging to get plutonium from those Lybians. With him being so busy with all of that all week, Doc thought it'd be easier just to tell Marty he was out of town all week because he couldn't handle any interruptions until he was finished, which he finally was that night in the mall parking lot. So like I said, Marty already knew that Doc was trying to make a time machine. But for the above mentioned reasons, Marty just didn't know it was a DeLorean until that night at the mall, which was why he asked "Wait a minute Doc, you telling me you built a time machine, out of a DeLorean??". He stressed the "out of DeLorean" part, meaning he already knew there may be a time machine but just didn't know it was going to be a DeLorean. And that exchange came after Doc sent Einstein one minute into the future since a couple minutes earlier Marty still wasn't sure that the DeLorean was actually the time machine that Doc had previously been wanting to make, which is why Marty said to Doc "You disintegrated Einstein!!". This is all why I think that the theory on Marty first knowing Doc as a science teacher at school does makes sense to me.

The explanation of George and Loraine not recognizing their 3rd child as the guy that George felt harrassed by 'Calvin' then was coached by him in order to ask Loraine to the dance they fell in love at... and Loraine was head over heals for when her dad hit 'calvin' with the car instead of peeping George. id say thats extremely memorable compared to some random person that was at your school for a week.
I’d remember the white guy who played guitar on the floor like a maniac, knocked over an amp/speaker, played a weird solo that ended in an ear piercing note, then talked about how my kids would “love it!” on stage with an African American rock band in 1955! I know it’s not a big deal but when I was a kid I always wondered HOW someone could forget something that odd.
5:30 You propagated a common myth. If you watch the Chuck Berry sequence, you'll see that Marvin is too late holding up the phone. By the time he has Chuck listen, Marty has moved on from Johnny B. Goode classic riffs to the wild and ripping solos of the future. It's certain that just sounded like noise to Chuck over the phone and he probably wondered how much of that refer Marvin had been smoking lately.
It would be interesting to see that cut out scene with Eric Stoltz that Michael J. Fox didn't reshoot. Just to see it and maybe the other footage of Eric too, just to compare.
6:20 How would anyone remember a schoolkid from 30 years before ? It depends. Those 8 days in 1955 were quite intense, with Lorraine chasing Calvin, who was also responsible for bringing Lorraine and George together. How could you forget ?
@Peter Piper I know, right? I saw the first in the trilogy at age 8. Even then I wondered, “How could one forget someone that spoke and played guitar so drastically different for the time? The way Marty played the solo on the floor and knocked the amp/speaker over would have been something etched into one’s memories!
So you’re telling me that Marty isn’t recognisable because he was only there for a week??? Lorraine Fell in love with Marty had him in her bed and even kissed him, I’m pretty sure most of us remembers the people we had a huge crush on etc when we were kids
Her “crush” only lasted for a week. A week long crush isn’t a huge crush. Had she had a crush on him for years, then sure, she’d remember him. As soon as his father saved her twice & kissed her at the danced, she didn’t care about Marty anymore. Are you telling me that you remember what every person you only saw for 7 straight days looks like 30 years later?
There's an issue with Loraine and George, not recognizing their son as looking like Calvin Klein. Biff recognizes him.... Biff does but Loraine and George don't? That excuse is a cop-out. Biff saw even less of "Calvin" than george and loraine did, but he still remembers him.
it wouldve been very awkward when marty met doc for the first time doc: hey marty! it's been a while! marty: i have never met you before doc: you went back in time to 19- oh wait nevermind
Yea it would be hard to member some random kid in the halls in highschool..or even if he was some big deal with other classmates but one HIGHLY doubts ypud just fprget a kid who came to school..fpr 8 days and was central to the most seminal moments of ur life arguably..he encorages george not only to gpo after lorraine..but also to write be confident...stand up for himself ..changin his whole life and laying ground work fpr the man he becomes..and his "darth vader" was inspired by marty...which yes even if he does npt know thats him still traumatic enough tp be imprinted which by his book obviously did...stay with me...because whos the first person and prob the only person he told???? Marty..which he'd remember forever..ptsd style..so balls on that "would u remember 17" crap...we grew up on this movie bpy and have watched and aalyzed ot hundreds if npt thousands of times..sry ur explsnation here is flimsy ..and its a plot hole . .
Emoney G - surely I agree, to a degree. I’m sure George and Lorraine remember him, but might not remember how he actually looks. Marty might “resemble” somebody they once knew?
well they might remember his face but I don’t think they have the ability to remember that the face of their son is the same as the kid who went to their school for a week. they might think they look similar but it was too long ago for them to actually be able to say “I’m 100% sure that Marty and Calvin Klein have the same face and are the same person”
I suspect that deep down both George and Lorraine - or at least George - know the truth. I have a feeling that at least one of them know the truth - that Marty is actually "Calvin Klein" from 1955. The way they look at him from the front porch at the end of the movie seems to reveal A LOT. That look just speaks VOLUMES!
My 'Back To The Future' moment would be to warp back to the summer of 1969, and give a certain self-esteem-stripped young couple quite the talking to.... 5 or 6 months before I was born!
I think they should make a prequel with Marty meeting doc just like the Return of the Jedi did. Why not everybody else doesn't nothing really to lose Nostalgia for most of us. Don't you think
@@aarongreenfield9038 True, but George and Lorraine are from separate families and met in 1955. So i was always confused why in the old west anyone on the McFly side would look like her. Unless there is some sort of cousin lovin' with George and Lorraine. :O

How would anyone remember a schoolkid from 30 years before ?
Slow the video down all the way then click this 2:46. Marty looks bizarro...
Anyone wishing for BTTF to have a remake or rebooted to fit today's social atmosphere should be institutionalized.
I remember every guy I liked or kissed while in High School
There's an issue with Loraine and George, not recognizing their son as looking like Calvin Klein. Biff recognizes him.... Biff does but Loraine and George don't? That excuse is a cop-out. Biff saw even less of "Calvin" than george and loraine did, but he still remembers him.
it wouldve been very awkward when marty met doc for the first time
doc: hey marty! it's been a while!
marty: i have never met you before
doc: you went back in time to 19- oh wait nevermind
Still TOP time travel film !
Im so tired of millenials gate keeping this film, GEN Z ENJOYED THIS AS MUCH AS YOU DO
it’s actually a Gen X movie. glad to know that a movie from our childhood is still beloved by your generation.
Jennifer from BTTF I was so much hotter than Elizabeth Shue's Jennifer. Was such a shame she wasn't in the rest of the series nor became a movie star
Very interesting
Bruh my class was watching this movie today 😂
Marty..which he'd remember forever..ptsd style..so balls on that "would u remember 17" crap...we grew up on this movie bpy and have watched and aalyzed ot hundreds if npt thousands of times..sry ur explsnation here is flimsy ..and its a plot hole

Beaten out only by Somewhere In Time....
I love that movie! It's so sad! It's my third favorite Christopher Reeve movie.
Just finished watching the Trilogy on Laserdisc for a grand total of I lost count long ego.
"...Marty sneaked into...." No. It's snuck. Marty snuck into Doc Brown's lab.
Michael is Canadian ????
I’m the 969th like! Nice!
Nice !😀👍
MJF was perfect as Marty but Eric would have made it his own in my opinion
So the time machine is a fridge not a delorean...
I think they should make a prequel with Marty meeting doc just like the Return of the Jedi did. Why not everybody else doesn't nothing really to lose Nostalgia for most of us. Don't you think
Free Penny Lane Ippolito from DHS in fort Collins co!
Still confused why his great grandmother in BTTF3 looked like his mother. She didn't marry into the family until after 1955. So...
Well look at the Tannen family line, they were all the same person too, Played by the same Actor.
@@aarongreenfield9038 True, but George and Lorraine are from separate families and met in 1955. So i was always confused why in the old west anyone on the McFly side would look like her.
Unless there is some sort of cousin lovin' with George and Lorraine. :O
@@CaturdayNite. There was definitely a lot of incest going on in those times, but I think it was just a matter of them wanting to use the same actress, Plot holes and all. I mean look how McFly in back to the future 2 Went to the future and saw his older self, wouldn't he of been missing. Yes yes, I know zemeckis said it was an alternate reality, but if that was the case, why would affecting alternate realities have any effect on the other alternate realities, and so on and so forth. And when they go back to their reality, nothing would have changed according to that logic.
@@aarongreenfield9038 Yep, they wanted her in it. It is just crazy that i have held on to that for...what, almost 30 years now? Always in my mind when watching it. But pretty much every movie has some little hole, some "wait, huh?" In there.
In each lifetime the same set of souls are all together in different roles. His Mum in one lifetime is his wife in another. Same soul.
i saw the title and refused to watch because i prefer stay ignorant instead of having one of my favourite movies ruined
It won't be ruined ... It is quite interesting. As you can see from the topics in the video description, there are only a few questions answered (when did they first meet, etc.). - Nothing that would _ruin_ my favourite film.
some of what they talked about is common knowledge these days anyway.
You pronounced interociter wrong. Have you never seen This Island Earth? (I'm just joking, people.)
Now your stealing from Grunge? Huh
Yes more videos before the REMAKE announcement!!!!
that's never gonna happen.
nope, it will not...because thankfully, “the Bobs” (Gale & Zemeckis) both agreed to *NEVER* let it be touched. no remakes, no reboots, no more sequels. I believe they are both on record to having their kids agree to it also, for when they are both decease.
@@shotaholic1 Good to hear that.
he pronounced INTEROCITER incorrectly. its a joke from some old B-movie.
Mystery Science Theatre 3000.
I have a crush on him
I think the most fascinating thing about Marty Mcfly is that he never really exited.....you do know this is pretend?????
inexstricably.... americans love makin up words.
To quote Paul Rudd
Back to the Future is BULLSHIT
Lol
Still the best time travel movie
