Diamond Eyes is their best album IMO...underrated
Minnesota Metal Man definitely a masterpiece and my favorite Deftones album.
I've really enjoyed Gore, especially Heart/Wires. That song is amazing to me.
That title goes to Self Titled for me lol but definitely love Diamond Eyes they are both insanely emotional and personal records.
As mentioned by others "Be quiet and Drive" is great song of theirs. I remember listening to this song repeatedly before I finally moved far from home out of a small town toward better opportunities when I was younger. Has always been a favorite.
If you're going to do more Deftones, try Rosemary. It's a trip.

Definitely got to do Headup and Max Cavalera of Sepultura also sings on it. It's heavy and probably one of the saddest Deftones songs as it's about Max's stepson Dana who passed away the year before the song was made. It's also why Max's band he made after Sepultura was called Soulfly. Metal history in one five minute long song.
I think tomb is a metaphor for somewhere that you sleep. Shake my tomb (shake my bed). Chino has always been heavily influenced by hip hop.
I was thinking that tomb was a reference to death, which represents orgasm in Shakespeare, so it is sexual!

Chino's influences are eclectic across the board. I heard an interview where he mentioned The Cure, Eric B & Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, Sade, Duran Duran and Anthrax as some of his favorites. That is a smattering of crazy influences!

I agree with Ryan! I've always got that sexy erotic feeling from Deftones and I've been a fan since the 90's. Passenger ft Maynard (from Tool) was a big song that made me feel that way. Both Chino and Maynard's voices are so soft and sexual regardless of the meaning....feel what the song makes you feel. Love both you guys! \m/

Sorry as a deftones fan since 94/ 95 you think music from Diamond Eyes is “ real” deftones music? I was at the concert in AZ that Chino caused a riot. I saw people steal kegs and throw them at people, men taking their shirts off and setting them on fire and swing them in the air! The cops tear gassing us! But, this is real Deftones music. I guess Adrenaline, Around the Fur, and white Pony aren’t real deftones music

I'm really glad you liked this one. Now that I listen to it through your ears, it's a pretty obscure sound. Deftones have always conjured such curious moods for me, their albums are sonic journeys. A unique artist to be sure. Keep up the great channel guys!

Meh, I mean, they mean something different to YOU, the person. But the song is about what it’s about. Meaning, the person who wrote the song writes the song about something, and that’s what the song is about. You can’t just change it yourself and say, “that’s what it’s about” and expect it to be worldly. If you think the song is about sex to YOU, then more power to ya. However, the song itself is not actually about that in reality.

Naytone it is my favorite album, but that may be because it’s the first album I got from them. Minerva is the song that got me and then I went down the rabbit hole, got everything previous to that shortly after and everything that has come out since. Love this bands versatility.

Love the reaction, You've Seen The Butcher is very atmospheric. A lot of Deftones' lyrics are very metaphorical, and definitely rife with innuendo. It's the type of music where the artist's meaning behind the writing isn't necessarily a huge focus though always very interesting to know, but it's definitely meant for you to pull your own meaning from.
