    I love the fact that you are forced to use the metric system due to the low weight 😁 Interesting video, thanks.

    This was super informative! I would love to see a video that describes how you select from your hatches for breeding stock - does egg size matter when setting eggs that will become brood stock? Do you use a system like the clan mating system that is used for chickens or do you just save the best looking birds from each hatch? Have you noticed improvements in things like egg weight and bird weight since you started selectively breeding your quail? It sounds like your average egg weight is larger than most Coturnix. Thanks!

      We actually have a video on this subject. It can be found here. ua-cam.com/video/Pfl0K5j6TzY/v-deo.html
      We choose to set eggs between 13g & 16g. Genetics is more important than egg size. Since we have started our breeding program egg size and bird weight has increased. Our majority of our eggs are in the 14-15g range

I would like to see a detailed video on them. Thanks 🙏 and keep up the great work you do!

    Talk about good hatch rates i remember i order eggs from you guys and you shipped them on a monday i beleive and i never got them they spent the weekend in the post office, one thing when i told them about it their was another box of eggs in the mail asap. But any how if i remember correctly those eggs that spent that much time in transit and sat the weekend still had over a 70% hatch rate i believe.

    How much do you sell your hatching quail eggs for.

    • @homesteadevolution
      @homesteadevolution  5 років тому +1

      The price is dependent on the amount purchased. For farm pick up it is $10.00 per dozen. For shipped eggs checkout website at www.ajfarmsllc.com as always shipping is included in the price.

    So what would the purpose be of setting eggs that are 13-16g compaired to smaller? Does it make the birds bigger faster

    • @homesteadevolution
      @homesteadevolution  Рік тому

      Hatches a larger bird and will eventually get larger eggs. We no longer go by these numbers. We only ship eggs that range from 15 - 17g at this time

      @@homesteadevolution well thats good to hear because i got about a dozen eggs going in that are at the 16.6g range and was worried about them being to big.

    • @homesteadevolution
      @homesteadevolution  Рік тому

      Make sure your birds are large enough to handle the size. We grow large Jumbos, so they are large enough to handle the egg size. The larger the egg, the more likely the off spring will lay large eggs also. Upu don't want the smaller bird lines to prolapse

    • @homesteadevolution
      @homesteadevolution  5 років тому

      We will be opening the site back up in a few weeks. It has been to hot for shipping. The heat takes a big toll on the eggs and can cause them to reach incubation temperature which can cause a poor hatch rate. We want our customers to have the best hatches possible so we choose not to ship in the few months that the temps are over 90°.
