GREETINGS EARTH WOMAN: I listened to Neil Diamond in the summer before I reported to active duty during Viet Nam. I have always loved his album Beautiful Noise and the song by the same name from it. It resonates with my temperament being an enthusiast. He has produced an enormous number of songs and is someways kind of a backdrop to many of the things that happened in the 60s and 70s.
So simple and yet so deep. I cannot listen to it without tearing up. Sooo meaningful. Great reaction / review as always lady. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
One of my favorite singer songwriters spanning many decades. I had so many of his records. "I Am, I Said" is one of my favorites. It is almost an autobiography of his life & fame. He had tons of hit songs. "Cherry, Cherry", "Kentucky Woman", "Red Red Wine", "Solitary Man", "Sweet Caroline", "Holly Holy", "Cracklin' Rosie", "Song Sung Blue", "Longfellow Serenade", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" etc. He wrote the song "I'm A Believer" which became a big hit for the Monkees in 1966. I was privileged to see him in concert twice. He was a great showman & his live performances were memorable.
My parents were so stifling and strict to the point we couldn't have friends or after school activities. We couldnt even spend time alone in our rooms. When I heard this song it resonated with me so much. I had simply left home and hitched across the country staying in communes along the way. I had to get away. I would scream the verse. But I knew why I felt lost.
This song has always resonated with me. I quit school at 16 back in 1980. By the time I joined the army in 1983 I had moved 11 times and that's counting my summer traveling with a carnival as only one move. To say I was lost and lonely is an understatement. Great reaction as always young lady. God bless.
I became a fan of Neil Diamond because my mom liked him.. After 45 years I still listen to his music. 2 songs that stand out for me are “She Got the Way” and. “The Boat That I Row”
Thanks for that thoughtful review. You got it all right about Neil Diamond. He's a terrific songwriter, one of the most successful ever, and I always say that if you want to get to know him, just listen to his songs. One of his best is the autobiographical Brooklyn Roads. You'd think it's an old wise man who wrote that song, but he was in his 20s. An old soul in a young body. Make sure you choose the studio version to review. But he has a huge catalogue to choose from, from Solitary Man and Stones, over Beautiful Noise and America, to terrific later work as Hell Yeah, Pretty Amazing Grace and Nothing But a Heartache.
In the early 80s I lived in Phoenix. I heard on the radio that Neil Diamond was having a concert at ASU. When I got to work, I asked a young lady if she would like to go hear Neil Diamond. Of course, she said yes, I figured it must have been my charm that convinced her and maybe Neil Diamond had something to do with her saying yes! From the time I heard about the concert was probably 1 1/2 hours. Not only had he sold out the first concert they added another concert it had sold out and they added another concert and it had sold out too! Never did take the young lady out. Guess I lost my charm!
Great Song! Love your Reactions To these 70's Love Song Gold! Love So Many of Neil's tunes! But You absolutely Must react to His Hypnotic Love Song, Long Fellow Serenade! It's Amazing! 🎶😘
My wife and I were lucky enough to see him in concert twice before he had to stop touring. If you choose to do live performances, my recommendation is to use them from "Hot August Nights" 1972 version. For his earlier stuff, I don't think there is a better live source
Yes! That album (double album, actually) is iconic for a reason. It firmly established his reputation as an amazing performer as well as singer and songwriter.
Love on the Rocks, Hello, Again, America, Solitary Man, Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show and Heartlight (Neil wrote a song about E.T. (the movie character) called Heartlight. It's so beautiful. I don't think I've seen reactions done to it at all. Maybe try it!!) All great songs!!
Weird timing, asking the same thing as I sit in my new apartment with my chair. My mom loved Neil Diamond. The Jazz Singer was her favorite movie. Thanks Tasha.
Neil isn't really my thing but I definitely respect him as an artist. I remember singing 'Song Sung Blue' with the choir in school...still know all the words & it brings back great memories!
Mr. Diamond is a national treasure. Such an iconic figure through the 60s on through the turn of the century. Sadly, he was sticken with Parkinson's Disease a few years ago. So tragic for someone that had done so much good for so many people.
I always loved this song but when I had to move halfway across the country for my senior year of high school (my dad was in the Air Force) it took on a new meaning. I knew that even when I managed to get back to Virginia it would never be the same. I did go back for college and stayed for sixteen years afterward but rarely saw any of my former friends. It’s like high school ended a year early for me but I had to go through the motions of being in a strange school seeing other kids living out their school’s senior traditions, which meant nothing to me, while I was thinking about the ones I was missing. Emotionally I felt like I had walked off a cliff and had nothing solid beneath me. I listened to this song a lot. I enjoyed your reaction. I think you’re the first reactor I’ve seen who really explored the part about the frog who dreamed of being a king. I think it’s a great line but I imagine there was a part of him that said people would think it was stupid and he should come up with something better. I’m glad he kept it.
the 'frog' story as about a frog who was kissed by a princess and then became a prince. The princes broke the spell. Neil just references the story at a surface level and your interpretation of his surface level adaptation, was very good.

You found a nice way into that song, and a nice re-expression of it... another heavy song from Neil is "Love On The Rocks".

your sweet goofiness keeps me coming back for more reactions...this is probably my favorite neil diamond song.
Still get goosebumps with this song!! 😊
One of my favorite songs EVER! this song can touch the feelings of a lot of people who go through life feeling lost and alone.
Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand went to high school together in NYC. They both sang in the same school choir together and didn't know each other.
Ĺove the song,beautiful words,
Amazing live performer, seen him many times.

Love this song OMG!! Probably my favorite by him 😅
Neil Diamond is an awesome entertainer.

Jazz Singer is a good movie 🎥
@@dalesouders4136 With a great soundtrack. 🔥🔥🔥
@@dalesouders4136 yeah, I haven't seen it in a while. My mom loved dancing to the soundtrack 🫣goofy 🤣
Thank you for listenin to the song and not talking over it. You definitely got the meaning.
Neil has a lot of great music, Tasha. Sometime treat yourself to his live LP Hot August Night. Really good stuff. 🙂
Neil isn't really my thing but I definitely respect him as an artist. I remember singing 'Song Sung Blue' with the choir in school...still know all the words & it brings back great memories!
Now that's a good song.
Neil Diamond has been my favorites since my teenage years

More great songs by Neil: Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show, Solitary Man, Holly Holy, Cracklin' Rosie, America, I could go on and on!
First, I must say great reaction; this is my favorite Neil Diamond song and I’m in Sunny California, not LA
You should listen to the studio version as well... even more powerful.
Neil wrote and sang so many legendary tunes, some of which were sang by The Monkees. Try reacting to Cracklin’ Rosie, and America!
Hi Tasha! I think you would like to hear ‘Forever in Bluejeans’ which is frequently misheard as ‘Reverend Bluejeans’.

Love on the Rocks is another Diamond classic

One of my fav by them, Revolution Is My Name.🤘
You are spot on when you break down a song. Are you a teacher? You'd make a good one "Hedlok"
The story of the frog is about being careful of what you wish for, what you strive for and dream of may not fulfill you.
That is such a great synopsis. Damn. New subscriber here now:)
This is the song I identify with the most.
❤❤❤❤❤
The studio version is much better in my opinion.
Beautiful.
Dan Seals - "God Must Be A Cowboy At Heart" is a must react video.

Hello

Great song but recorded version is much better.
So poignant
He really mangled it, unfortunately.
