Badger's determination to just have fun with his friends, regardless of opinion or even the state of the game is commendable. I know if a game had literally set my computer on fire, I'd be much less inclined toward it.
It's less of a problem when you've got enough money to not care. PC catches fire? Just get a new one. Game turns out to be garbage and you're just past the return date? Just uninstall!
That's why he has made his career out of shitposting. He makes the money to bail himself out of computer failure, the friends both high and low to set him up for success and then be his honest self as he plays.

Same here, but for me, Battlefield series was dead after Battlefield 4. I'd rather play Warframe or any open world RPG, like Fallout 3/4/NV or Fallout 76 than any game of Battlefield series, to be honest

I'm 100% positive that Badger would say that the game is super fun to play, and he and his buddies would have an amazing time. It's the being "with friends" part that would make anything tolerable. You wouldn't be going through hell alone. At least with friends you can make fun of weird demons. It's awkward to laugh alone.

Nice sentiment. But in practice, technological superiority wins out. Thatcher still relies on intel gathered by GPS satellites and unmanned drones for his missions, and if he used a red dot he’d straight up shoot better. And there’s nothing stopping him from having both an optic (powered on unpowered) and backup irons.

Signal strength and reception clarity. 5 by 5 meaning both were best quality. In today's world, most cell phones have 5 bars for signal strength.
"In the pipe, five by five" is actually two expressions like smushed together.
"In the pipe" or "in the pipeline" means that everything is according to plan, running on time.
"Five by five" does orginally refer to radio procedure and means clarity of 5 and strength of 5 on a 0-5 scale. Its since sort of filtered into English language to mean "very good".

I just want to note. I understand that the army has a generally decent officer corps, and i don't blame you for having misconceptions. But one needs to understand that regardless of how the DOD and the DON treats us, or the theoretical (more like Hypothetical) application of such troops. The Marine Corps are not naval infantry. We are not "badass" special forces, nor are we conventional front-line infantry. We are a multifaceted heavy strike force. Whether it be natural or human (thanks George) disaster we do the best we can to react to it with maximum force but minimum overall impact.

Recently their price dive has been attributed more to reopening reducing engagement over BF2042’s awful reception. Even their largest drop in 5 years back in 2018 was attributed to BF5 being delayed and lower than projected mobile game revenue. When GAMING companies don’t need to make a good GAME, its no wonder AAA gaming is going right off a cliff.

The majority of the damage a bullet causes is formed by the "tomporary" cavity.
When a bullet hits a meaty target, around the hole and near the point of entry, all that flexh moves out of the way, creating a sort of, semi hollow hole, which tears apart arteries/veins, damages organs even when the bullet didn't hit them, and is what makes a bullet "deadly".
When a bullet is better at penetration, it's temporary cavity may become smaller since it takes less meat with it.
Think of it as so:
You fasten the edges of paper with nothing behind it. then, you poke through it quickly with a pencil. The pencil goes right through and leaves a small hole. You then try this again but push the pencil through slowly. Now, the pencil doesn't create a small, clean hole, but pulls the paper with it and creates a huge tear, if it hasn't already torn the piece of paper apart.
It's almost like a form of "human over-penetration", where a tank shell would go too fast and wouldn't break apart on entry, dealing less damage.
Bullets with less penetration, as a result, can actually do more harm since the amount of internal bleeding would be greater.
And since it's extremely difficult to keep moving after all the arteries and veins in a, let's say honey dew sized area in your body got torn to shreds.
So no, stopping power i*s* a thing.

So C4 is just a composition explosive that was developed in the 60s i believe? Cause ww2 and Korea utilized C3. Though technically it was developed at the end of ww2 so technically C2 was used in ww2. So it makes sense to have C5 in the future conflict of the 2040s. That being said, we have C2, C3, and C4. But no C1 and it bugs me xD
Also while fact checking my vague knowledge from my dad, I found out that some crayon eater fuckin ate some c4. Like I've heard stories of people using C4 as a heater for food but common dont be eating the clay, you got a whole box of crayons xD

If a thing is not called the most obvious thing it could be based on the name, its because there is another thing thats already called that thing and they don’t want two things called the same thing.
CX is also one that exists, as far as I know. The levels of composition are usually just differences in the power per ounce, and how stable they are. C4 is the most commonly used because it hase the power, but is also stable as all get out. Basically, the only thing that will cause it to actually explode is a detonator. Things like impact, pressure, and fire won't. It comes down to safety really. It will only actually explode when you want it to.
Don't hold me to it but I think C1 might be the Nitroglycerin & Diatomaceous Earth mix used to make stable Dynamite

Apparently 5x5 is refering to the Strength of the Signal and the Clarity of the Signal. On a scale of 5 for both I'm assuming since it's considered the "Understandable" signal possible.
Signal strength and reception clarity. 5 by 5 was the radio handle version of ZSR ("Your signal strong and readable") in teletype message traffic (read: AUTODIN). As an aside, in today's world, ever wondered why cell phones have 5 bars for signal reception? There you go.
Would be interested in seeing a comparison of sights. From Experience, CCO felt pretty good considering I didn't need a consistent sight picture. The dot was always dead on from any angle I aim down sights. Acog on the other hand, while I needed good fundamentals the magnification just feels like cheating.
Again, that was just feeling. I never did or got the chance to do a side by side comparison of the 3
5x5 (5by5) is for defining radio transmission, two values for signal strength first then signal clarity, both on a scale of 1 to 5.

What you're going to find when comparing iron sights and an electronic optic is that iron sights are going to be faster to aquire and electronic optics are more accurate and the speed of acquisition can be trained in.
When it comes to irons vs Red dot, I recommend checking out T Sex Arms Canted Red dot video.
I think he talks in length how much the red dot surpasses iron sights. It might be another video.

While I commend Badger's relentless ability to have fun with his pals,
you can have fun with friends doing anything.
It doesn't make 2042 less of a severe regression from prior entries' offerings, and we as consumers just can't let that slide. Companies get away with something once, they'll just keep on doing it.
That being said, the core gameplay is pretty fun and they've been on top of the updates, fixing a lot of bugs as well as already doing balance changes for vehicles and weapons and gamemodes. Game may have been released a tad bit early but they are doing a much better job fixing it than the vast majority of developers out there. I personally think that realistically speaking, a game with 128 players in it isn't possible to be properly tested by just a dev team and requires the community to properly identify most issues (remember badger said things worked quite well on severs that weren't fully populated). That being said I think the main issue wasn't the game state, but the lack of transparency that they needed the players to do most of the testing for them. Other than that they've been pretty on tope of things these 3 weeks since release, fixing the severe bugs as well as quickly nerfing op stuff, I feel bad for the devs getting so much flack, chances are that EA was pressuring them to release like that.
"just blow the towers up" the thing is, if every soldier uses wifi (more likely lora, but same idea) they can have ad-hoc connections to eachother granted that a soldier has at least an other one it a 10km radius. and with 3 soldiers they can know their relative positions (assuming an open field)
if you know your position on the map (which you can with a starting point, a magnetometer, gyroscope and acclerometer, which is a 50cent jelly bean part.) you then know everybody's position. they can also give you their position, and with everyone's position, you can avoid drift.
you could also drop static beacons that act as anchors. such a device would probably cost like 100 bucks (if it's actually using wifi/bt, using preloaded phones with broken screens would be perfectly suitable for a short

Tip: if you do get this battlefield play the portal, there are some really nice military Sim servers that play way better than the main game as the main game has bugs and glitches
5 by 5 is used to give scales to loud and clear. A 1 by 5 would be very quiet but clear, while a 5 by 1 would be loud but garbled/full of static. Of course, you can use the range of numbers with 3 usually being good enough. I know Civil Aviation still uses this method specifically when pilots or controllers have less than great transmissions, usually involving moving their microphone/boom back to the front of their face. First responders like firefighters and police will also use this method.
Just to let you know Badger is a huge battlefield fan, and he even started out as just a battlefield channel with Bad Company 2.

I will say, scientifically based on Physics, velocity has 2 times the greater force than Mass does in total of Newtons. This means that velocity effects the outcome of the force more than mass does. Now yes, if you can launch a bigger object at the same speed as a smaller object, it’ll be stronger, but gravity will have a greater effect on it.
The reason a .50 Caliber is armor piercing is because of the gunpowder behind the bullet, not necessarily the bullet itself. Velocity creates more force than mass does, more velocity comes from more gunpowder behind the bullet. And yes, according to Newton’s law, it will have an equal and opposite reaction which is the kick you get when firing a weapon.
Bigger bullet ≠ more damage
Higher velocity bullet = more force of impact
Again, yes bigger does create more force of impact, but velocity does it more effectively. I don’t remember what equation it is, but it contains mass and velocity creating force and velocity is multiplied by 2.
Red dots vs Irons
TL;DR : Just use an optic and change the batteries on your birthday.
The main attraction of a red dot to me is to be able to use a single focal plane, which is how your eyes are meant to be used. I focus on the target and superpose the dot onto the target. Instead of focusing on the front sight which can be anywhere from 8-12 MOA wide, I use the target as my front sight and a dot that is only 2 MOA wide. To me, having a 2 moa dot helps my eyes more than a 11 MOA post that covers up the majority of my target. Not saying it can't be done, but its easier for me and my shitty eyes with an optic.
Nowadays with modern mounts and red dots, an Aimpoint or Trijicon ACOG can take as much if not more abuse than most iron sights. They've got bodies made of solid aluminum forgings, and they're pretty tough. I've seen front sights break off, and rear sights shift in the dovetail. The plastic sighs that come on Glocks are particularly infamous for that. But I've seen iron sights on rifles get busted up and knocked loose too. Shit happens.
With a proper notch filter, red dots can have batteries that can last several years, especially with shake awake technology. ACOG prismatic scopes are powered by the sun via fiber optics, so there's that, and the tritium in them lasts several years.
Almost every other weapon is threat focused except a firearm with iron sights. For iron sights, especially pistol iron sights, you have to bounce between 3 focal planes to line up your shot.
Overall I'm happy with embracing the technological advancements that the past 20 years have brought to firearm optics. There are always gonna be people who prefer iron sights, and more power to them, but I'm gonna stick to dots on rifles and pistols.
This is a well constructed explanation! Well done Will, and I have to agree to you on pretty much everything about modern magnified and unmagnified optics. I do believe however that irons still do have a place on firearms. Fiber optics really have brought some new life to iron sights from pistols to rifles to shotguns and everything in between in the past 30 or so odd years. I still do prefer an optic though like you as it is still easier to aquire a target and engage when you don't have to line up three dots in a row or put a front post between a groove
i'd probably run a 2x optic on my Sauer 200 STR if i were allowed to even look through anything else than a diopter sight on the range, why a 2x scope? we shoot from 27 yards to 273 yards (25 meters to 250 meters for us non-US peeps here) so using that kind of magnification would let me use that one sight and don't have to fiddle with mounts and re-zeroing it every time i'd have to swap them

I've been playing Battlefield since BF3, and these games do usually launch in a pretty rough state. Anyone who thinks BF2042 is bad on launch obviously never played BF4 on launch.
It's part of the charm of Battlefield at this point. However the dev team has been putting out patches like it's nobody's business, so I'm hopeful the game will be polished pretty quickly all things considered.
You should react to foxhole. Its a top down war game MMO. Every soldier is a person, and two factions are fighting to conquer eachother. Everything that you get has been sent to the frontline by another player transporting basic materials from a factory manned by OTHER players.
GOD yes, PLEASE react to Foxhole, that game is absolutely DOPE. I cannot over-state how much I love to just log in and the next time I break eye contact with the screen, it's already tomorrow and I've been doing nothing but trucking bullets to the front line for ten hours. It may not be super glamorous, but I know my deliveries were the difference between victory and defeat.
5/5 is signal strength and signal quality on a scale of 1-5, I use the 5/9 in amature radio for signal report 5 = audio quality and 9 is signal strength
The F-35 literally adds 2 additional roles on top of the roles already filled by the F-16 with far more compatibility with advanced systems and the ability to contest airspace that has a large proliferation of integrated air defense systems via stealth. Just two roles. The F-16 does literally EVERYTHING ELSE the F-35 does. It literally is just a replacement for the F/A-18 and the F-16. That's it. Nobody accuses the F-16 of being trash despite the fact that it's development cycle was just as long and just as overbudget as the F-35's and it was still killing test pilots into the Block C production runs. The air force is not replacing their air superiority fighters with it, that's why they wanted the F-22. It actually could have reasonably been alot better if not for the politics involved in it's manufacture, but that's a sideshow. The real hole in airpower isn't the F-35, the F-35 was never going to replace the F-15. Our crisis with aircraft is the lack of F-22 production because people didn't wanna fork out the sheer amount of cash you need to literally leapfrog the rest of the world in air to air capability that the F-22 represented 10 years ago. Now the air force is scrambling to develop their next generation fighter platform with dumb ideas like the F-15X as stop gaps.
I can't wait for the salty replies about that dig on the F-16 btw. It's still a fantastic aircraft.

Actually that Combine solider you saw: is a Prototype aka a combine grunt, their still human and has abit of cybernetic implants in them before they were fully turned into the cyborgs of the combine.
Combine grunts are simple humans in some gear in half life Alyx that VR game Valve made. Also their design is intentional.
There are Combine suppressor or juggernauts who are armed with shotguns or Light machine guns.
And there are combine captains who lead squads.
And after that the prototype combine where replaced with the monotone emotionless cyborgs.

I can understand wanting to release stuff online but my philosphy is you need to stomp your problems quickly but starting with the worst and in fallout 4, 4 years after its release I still sometimes run into a collison issue where my character will die from touching a vehicle and the rare invincible mutant hound.
Fun fact: the gas mask looking headass IS a combine soldier from half life 2, well, the beta version at least
Dont get 2042 its an unacceptably buggy mess and unless your packing 3 friends you are gonna have a terrible boring time very few people work together. Also the hit registration is actually dogshit I've dumped an entire mag into a guy and didn't drop him. id say wait like 2 months and it might be acceptable but who knows.

yeah, with bullets it's not the size of the round, it's the amount of lead you put downrange. Even a hit blocked by armor can debilitate someone.

Don't know if what you're saying is true, but if it is it makes a lot of sense. You can build a pc yourself starting from zero experience and knowhow. Flying at supersonic is no great feat. So many craft, especially military, can fly at supersonic speed. It's cruising (no afterburner, also known as supercruise) at supersonic speeds that's the trick, something very few planes can do. The Concord, I believe, was the only civilian craft capable of doing that. The F-22 is one of four modern fighter aircraft capable of that feat, and the fastest with the ability to supercruise at Mach 1.8. The F-35 is decidedly not on that list.

Yeah tbh Skyrim isn't actually that buggy like people say. I may have less playtime than a lot of people but i still have about 1000 hours in skyrim and yes bugs are common but they are mostly the same funny bugs. In all my playtime i've ran into about 2 bugs that negatively impacted gameplay.
