Just mounted my head lamp protector on my SAS 22’ and rad protectors after watching some of Your vids! Thx for the tips, cheap incurance! I Also put some Water repellant behind the head lamp protector🤙
Hiya Daniel!! Cheers bud and great to hear your feedback 👍. Always nice to hear vid was of use to someone. That's a good idea about repellent!!! Congrats on the bike and keeps enjoy!! It's a beast of a bike 😁
Thought you'd gone into hibernation LOL - impressed you've got the bike clean after Wales - mine was finally clean after two washes and then it ended up back at Sweet Lamb last week so had to have another clean but it could do with another this coming week
HAHA Yeah I know mate. I have spent last two weeks roughly stripping the 800XC down and replacing nearly everything on it... Its the green laner once again....So finally have the 1290 back in the workshop to play with. And yup cleaning it was the worst clean effort I have ever experienced. 3 days solid and stripping all panels off to get the the underneath for a deep clean. This could almost go back on a dealership floor and youd never tell it did a two day cross country rally lol..
Hi Ric!!
Saludos Ric
hello, I have ordered it since May and to date it has yet to arrive. apart from that everything looks well done. it will be a hassle to take it off to clean the headlight, patience. I can't wait to see video on the assembly of the spotlights ... see you soon😁👍
Hello! Thankscfor watching and comment. Yes its a long wait. I had to wait months too until it arrived. And yes is a shame they did not design it easy clean friendly. I am not looking forward to the spot lights haha
Thanks for the video. Bought this same protector for my SAR. Disappointing though, it would have been so easy for KTM to make it more easily removable. A clip at the top, and the 2 screws at bottom would work.
Hiya David! yeah I thought it be a good thing. Not had the time yet to look into it but KTM could definitely have done something better than this. Cheers Ric
Ah cool that’s good to know. Still prefer the triumph style quick release. Earlier triumphs had the fixed style and it’s still an arse to properly clean. Hence later models had quick release and much better for a good wash.
Hello mate! and top marks for observation haha.... Yep was wondering when someone would point that one out. I have put it back in to what I call "commuter/touring" setup. The high level satnav mount and tall stock "S" model screen offers better comfort for Autumn/Winter daily work horse road use. And the topbox back on with rails. I swap and change the setup accordingly. So next bit of off road or fun with mates.. Its just 15-20 mins in the workshop to put the PerunMoto stuff back on and SAR screen. And we are back in business :)
Just looking to install this now on my bike but I have the Denali upper spotlight mounts. Not sure if I can mount it due to the sides where you put the screws having spacers and a bracket that makes it too wide???
Rebonjour mon ami.
:) Merci Ric
Hi Ric - thanks for this video 👍 I've just bought an SAS and am going to be fitting the Powerparts headlight protector. Did you ever come up with a workaround to help it fold down for cleaning? Cheers, Matt
Hiya Matt. Thanks for the comment and watching. I recommend you also check out touratech offering. I also own the mesh metal protector which I use as standard now. Has a quick release. But also touratech make a clear plastic version similar to the power parts one shown but also is quick release 👍 See what you think Cheers Ric
Hiya Johan! Thank you for the positive vibes! I know is not a complicated addition. But just a fun bit of video from my side adding new things to the bike :) And great to hear from you again. Cheers again Ric
Possibly although to be honest you would only benefit from the look and style of a light tint when the bike is off and no light is on.. When riding you probably wouldn't notice the difference? And if you did notice the difference you probably are losing out on light you probably want :) I totally get it with helmet visors but not so sure on headlights. Cheers Ric
Hello there! Yes sure I purchased mine from these online. I am not sure of the stock level but you may have to wait like a lot of other people due to ktm back order issues. Same as every other KTM accessory these days. Try them anyway! Thanks Ric www.jimaimracing.co.uk/shop/parts/protection/frame-protection/headlight-protection-cpl/

Hiya Gary, not yet as its hot off the press lol.. I've just fitted it an hour ago and posted the vid.... I am and have been for last couple weeks focusing on renovating up my 105K miler 800XC for daily graft and offroad/green laning. Only just got my workshop back thankfully. I will post up a review if I find there are any negative impacts on this once I ride with it. Cheers Ric
The middle section of the headlight used to be a cooling element on previous model to cool down the headlight when in use. Is this not the case with the new model? Overall looks great!
Infiel Ricardo Thanks for the videos are always interesting, that bad the projector to clean the lighthouse could have studied it a little more. I wish you'd put the auxiliary data that I have, too, without putting a jeje. Salu2 from your most faithful unfaithful Pako
Hello again mate! Yes I was hoping the protector was quick release or allow easy clean but no unfortunately. And sorry I just have not had the space for the last few weeks to work on the Aux lights. My other bike has been in pieces in the workshop taking up space. I have now finished it and I have the 1290 back in the workshop. Also I need to find time for this job as I have to balance personal life (wife) and work with time in the workshop.. And If I strip the 1290 down to fit the lights, I need to allow time to rebuild so I am not left without it for too long in pieces :) . So I need work out what time I have allowed to commit. Should be too long I will hopefully start either this week or next. And then will need time to edit vid. Cheers again Ric
Haha yeah but It kills me to leave it dirty after. I always deep clean it. Have you seen the state of it in the photos at the end of the video of the Rally I did? It was insane how dirty it was 😂
Ciao! Grazie per il messaggio. È sufficiente rimuovere i 4 bulloni sullo schermo. Grazie Ric
Hello there. Unfortunately I cannot help with that question as I don't know. I try and keep to OEM and original approved parts. I was told by the dealer each lamp gives out 4000 lumens each light so 8000 lumens in total. This is quite a crazy amount of light. There are probably more powerful ones out there on the market but seriously these are more than adequate. Especially combined with the 1290 Headlight and Main Beams! Thanks Ric

Likely can use a long bottle brush with a constant water stream to clean between light and protector.

Yes, the dirt (and flies) defo gets behind it and so at some point you need to take it off. The velcro one is just a bit easier to take off.
Yeah mate thought so. Which is a slight ball ache. They could have done a really good fix on that
Thanks for the video. Bought this same protector for my SAR. Disappointing though, it would have been so easy for KTM to make it more easily removable. A clip at the top, and the 2 screws at bottom would work.

There's enough space between the light and the protector to drag a microfibre cloth in there, you can clean it no problem.
Ah cool that’s good to know. Still prefer the triumph style quick release. Earlier triumphs had the fixed style and it’s still an arse to properly clean. Hence later models had quick release and much better for a good wash.
