- How to take off the Blink Doorbell with the provided key.
If you're replacing the batteries, Blink wants you to use Lithium batteries. It's a good idea to get the Max batteries that last the longest so that you don't have to change the batteries too often, we recommend: amzn.to/33ndJf4
This is the doorbell from this video (the Sync module is included in this set and is required to make it work online with the app): amzn.to/3pv7luf

Glad I threw that key away 👍🏻
😂 same!
Because a small screwdriver wouldn't work
Well I’m glad I’m not only one. 🤦♀️
Thank you for this body. Glad to know anyone can pop it off with a screw driver
This is Me being lazy not wanting to look for the instructions so I hop on UA-cam lol
🤣 it's ok, the instructions aren't super helpful for showing how to take the doorbell off
Lol! This is me too!
All of us are guilty ! YT so conveniant at situations like this
Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa
Thanks for this. Thumbs up! 👍
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! Hope you have a great day! Glad this video was helpful.
Thanks for the video
Sure thing! Thanks for stopping by
Great video! Honestly, Idk it came with a key. I saw another video to use a screwdriver. Didn’t want to try that. Placing it back on was easier than I thought it would be. It’s best to try to angle the holes with the top teeth, as best as possible.
Awesome! So glad it helped! Thanks for the tip on lining up the holes.
Thank your for this video. Worked like a charm.
So glad!
Dude thank you. This wasn’t in the instructions!
Sure thing! So glad it helped
Perfect. Thank you. I’ve been waiting for my husband to do it but I don’t want to nag about it so I’m going to do it.
You're welcome, I hope it goes well
Apppppprrrreciate you!
Thank you! You too!
To remove the cover you simply push up gently with the tool supplied (or with a screwdriver of similar width)on the light grey 2 prongs that are in the hole shown in the video. There is no need to lever or use any force!
OMG putting it back together has been the most frustrating, blood pressure rising, experience of my entire life. I have used every trick and tip. I cannot go through this every time I have to change the batteries lol I don't have it installed tightly, but it's installed and it works for me. But guess what? I lost the freaking key. I just can't win with this blink doorbell
I hear you. The Blink doesn't give you a solid "feel" when it's back on the wall, it's just plastic on plastic. The Nest has our favorite mount, it's solid metal. *but* the Ring works great and is so much cheaper. Check out the link in the description for longer lasting batteries so you can change them less frequently.
Mine broke. The hooks on the top broke when I went to replace the batteries and now there is a visible gap on the top portion of the unit. I believe it was due to my own mishap. I installed the backplate to an uneven surface. Because of this, the doorbell sat similar to the way your camera sits on the back plate in the video. Seems like the hooks didn't have even tension applied to them because of the uneven mounted area. Contacted support to see about a replacement.
Bummer to hear the hooks broke. It's true, these units don't do super well on an uneven surface. I hope customer service can get you a new backplate.
@@clickapro they contacted me and will be sending a replacement. Hopefully they send the one with the foam backing. I'll update when it arrives.
@@SM-pi8vd glad they are responsive. Hope the foam backed one helps
@@clickapro it arrived and it's much sturdier. It also seems this new backplate comes standard now because I just got another doorbell camera and it included the more sturdier backplate. Thanks for posting this!
@@SM-pi8vd yay! That's great news! So glad the new one is sturdier and that it worked out 😁
Also can you share that link for the batteries? Thanks!

Thanks for the video. Can someone please advise, there seems to be a gap between the bell and the back plate, is this normal?
In a perfect installation it would be flush with just a very thin hair thickness space. But I've seen when these are installed on an uneven surface, there can be a gap.
You are right about the batteries, the Energizer Ultimate Lithium lasted over a year.
Awesome! So glad you got a year out of them. They are our favorite for this application for sure.
Which batteries do you suggest are the best for it?
Great question! We recommend amzn.to/33ndJf4 (the Energizer AA Lithium to maximize the time between changing batteries)
Appears to be 2 different versions of this. The other has a separate battery cover, and different back plate. Easier to mount, just press and click.
Good to know, thanks! Do you know what year yours was purchased? The one in the video is from around Jan 2022. I'm wondering if it's a recent model change.
@@clickapro Well I only purchased this a month ago, so not really sure when they changed the design. This is mine working without using batteries. ua-cam.com/video/Di7x9bPjGgo/v-deo.html
@@MidlandBulletRiders Ok gotcha, I'm glad they improved the design. Good call to set it up to not need batteries when that's an option. Thanks!
OmGoshh!! Thank you so much!! Finally got that sucker off!😂😂
Yay! Glad you got it off!
@@clickapro Me too. I became very unhappy lol So thanks again for taking the time to make such a helpful video.
@@northernmemaw4036 absolutely! Thank you for stopping by, it's great to have you here.
Link to better batteries? Mine can’t handle the below freezing temps
Hi! Lithium batteries can have an operating temp down to -40 degrees F. Here are the ones we use: amzn.to/3PEY4LS
I cant see the link for better batteries u recommend?
Hi Sharon: Here is the link: amzn.to/33ndJf4
How can you get an replacement key?
I use small flat scrw driver
Removed and returned blink doorbell it had an interference sound all the time.. and reasons for it?
Ya that's how mine are. There is a fair amount of background static. I have found that the more expensive Ring or Nest units have better audio. But not prefect. I think Nest may be the best and the strength and quality of the wifi makes a huge difference also.
Can I order a replacement key I lost mine?
Not that I'm aware of, but you can try to take it off gently with a flat head screw driver.
It needs to be smoother. I freaking broke mine. Now I’m looking for a back plate
Ah bummer! Which back plate did you end up buying? I see there are several aftermarket back plates you can get or you can get just a replacement for the original.
Can it still function without the module 2 plugged in
Hello! It's my understanding that without a sync module, it will just go offline. I can confirm that you can use the sync module and doorbell without subscription. This is a big plus over the competition if you don't want to pay monthly.
Here is the system that we have installed in this video: amzn.to/3pv7luf
@@clickapro thanks so either the blink video camera it cannot function without the module 2 being plugged in?
@Lester Doze correct, both the Sync Module and the Blink Doorbell need to be both plugged in and both connected to WiFi to function
@@clickapro the blink video aswell ?
When I opened mine, half the camera and wallmount flew out.
Oh no! Bummer
I couldn’t even get the doorbell to connect to the backplate. It just won’t click
Bummer. Does it slide down a bit? See video starting at 1:00. Mine doesn't click either. But it slides down and then it's ok. That's probably my only complaint with this doorbell, the backplate is just cheap plastic, so it doesn't feel super confident when you put it on. But it does stay in place.
What about without the key
Hello, what is your question about the key? The key we used is the key that comes with the Blink Doorbell. It's inside the Blink Doorbell box that it is shipped in
@@clickapro I just used a flat head screw driver because I lost my key and that worked perfectly for me
Glad it worked 😁
DONT PUT THE KEY IN THE FRONT HOLE! that’s for speakers, mics. Go to the back hole- it’s not loose. I suspect the reason the loose front hole worked was because it wasn’t set right to begin with- should have clicked when set in.
I give up. I’ll never get the cover back on. I want to smash it in the road. One of the hook thingies inside broke as soon as I took the cover off. Amazon stinks.
Oh no, bummer it's giving you so much grief. If it's dark outside where you are, maybe try in the daylight and try to look behind to see if everything matches up and that the plastic isn't broken. Best luck.
DO NOT DO THIS! After the tool is inserted slide the doorbell up. Then after it shifts up pull it toward you and it will come off easy. Rotating it up as the video does will break the tabs off the backplate. (You shouldn't have to force it.) If you break the tabs off the backplate call Blink Tech Support and they will send a replacement back plate.
Thanks, good comment. Do you have a newer Blink? The new doorbells have been redesigned to slide up and I think they are easier to operate.
Key sucks ring bell fix
Dumbest design I've ever seen....
I WISH I COULD WARN EVERYBODY TO NOT BUY THIS!!!! The little brittle clips that hold the camera onto the backplate ALL BROKE OFF (except for 2 of them) the 1st time i was changing my batteries. I was being ever so gentle to put it back on, then...Snap...then...crack...then snap again. All but 2 broke!
Unfortunately the are on the same side. Just realized now that I can lean the camera to the side and it just comes right off just like that. No struggle! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
Thank you!
