    A good point that Tom mentioned here. The drops of lube can easily fix leakers.
    A very good example are the Sig ASP rifles, as my MCX or Virtus. A few big drops of decent silicone oil into the rear of them every now and then will fix or just keep the rifle without leaks. A valve leak after a long time of storage? No problem. A few big drops and a few shots empty - and the leak is gone. Personal experience, cuz I love em often troublesome SIGs. For the 88g rifles a 12g cartridge adapter is a good aid. Just add the adapter tip first onto the rifle - it will keep the oil drops center of the piercing and co2 entry point. Then add the rest of the set for a quick internal lube job.

    Tom AKA the god father is the smartest airgunner out there, Rick Eutsler is a no punch pulling facts not fluff air gun critic, And last but not lest Jim is one of the number one Air gun hunting air gunners out there. What a round table, would love to sit in on one of these round tables. The learning never stops in this sport of air gunning wow. American Air gunner is by far my favorite show. Its nice to have a show that is all about air guns and the sport as a hole. Best Regards

    Agree for NO SELF DEFENSE Co2 guns. Even my crosman dpms sbr full auto 400fps rifle could NOT be used as a self defense. Lack of power. My springer 22 pellet gun could not be used as a defense as its a singleshot. but Ill say yes to my 25 caliber 8 shot pcp benjamin marauder.

    I’m new to airguns and currently enjoying my break barrel Crosman. And yes, I’m late to this party, seeing that the video is from 2015. But I hope someone could answer my questions about CO2 and PCP:
    1) if they both use gas, why aren’t they interchangeable?
    2) Also, why is C02 cheaper, when PCP uses air (i.e. the regular air around us, composed of nitrogen, oxygen, co2, etc) while with CO2 you need to extract that specific gas, which is an extra step.
    Loving this round table series 🙂

      A co2 air cylinder in meant to hold a constant pressure of around 800 psi. So if you were able to keep the pcp pressure at or below that, the. It will work. The difficulty comes with shot count. Since co2 is a liquid, it will self regulate to 800ish psi until the liquid co2 is gone. Giving you more shots. Air is just air and has no liquid to evaporated and maintain the pressure like co2 does. This is why an air cylinder for an Airgun holds close to 3000 psi (each cylinder is rated differently) to get a higher shot count. Bit of a rambling answer, but hope it makes sense.

    • @MasterKoala777
      @MasterKoala777 2 роки тому

      @@americanairgunner It’s awesome to get an answer, and yes it does make sense. Co2 is easier to handle because it self regulates (being in liquid form), which is why it’s cheaper. But it stays at 800 psi which gives fewer shots than PCPs. I googled quite a bit on this question and never found an answer. Thank you ❤️. I hope everyone in the show/series is doing well. Cheers! 🙂

    I have a crosman trapmaster 1100 Co2 air shotgun that is .380 bore, and it's a blast! I especially like reloading the shells with a single .36 caliber lead roundball and shooting those...i am in Canada and only shoot airguns the aren't considered regulated firearms and the trapmaster doesn't shoot over 500 fps, which is the line between un-regulated and regulated firearms, and I think it might be the most powerful AirGun that doesn't require a firearms license.

    • @harleyme3163
      @harleyme3163 6 років тому

      mmm anything over 500 fps or 2.4 pounds of muzzle energy is considered a firearm in canada. what suprise's me is when I bought my CANADIAN crosman 2289 it shot 17 grain pellets at 540 fps and around 2.4 ft pounds of energy lol...
      since then I've modified the hell out of it.... now it shoots 1600 fps at around 18 foot pounds lol and yes I have my pal for it..

    Update , there are many large caliber 50cal, 68cal, co2 guns nowadays. Marketed as less than lethal defense guns. They are a ton of fun to shoot out in the woods with soft rubber balls. 350 to 450fps, the suckers are so big and slow you can see them in flight, like an arrow. They are surprisingly accurate and can lob a ball a long way predictably. I've several Umarex ball lobbers, they are markeked umder T4E (training for engagement). Inexpensive, reliable, safe, super fun but definitely not for unsupervised kids.

    Loved this episode! :)
    Own many different co2 pistols - therefore the subject was very interesting. Never woulda guessed the little drop of oil would have made so much of a difference.
    Many like hpa conversions so they could avoid co2 freezing. I own a Sig MCX co2 rifle. Many owners of the same airgun has said it to freeze and maybe even empty the whole co2 cartridge through the barrel. Dunno wtf they have done with their MCX - mine has never frosted. The big 88g cartridges might cool down a little bit - but the 12g (used with an adapter) is the only co2 cartridge that I have ever gotten actually cold (shooting indoors even). Maybe others try to simulate full-auto with the MCX? But, since it is not - I have mostly been shooting sniper-like longer distances with it, shooting for approx every 3rd second. No freezes, ever. Awaiting for to get my hands on the Crosman DPMS SBR full-auto - then we'll see what may freeze or not.. :D The BB magazine just might deplete before it freezes.. haha :D :D

    I'm surprised the Crosman 160-167 aren't mentioned in this one. Or the 180 series either. I'm restoring/rebuilding a variant one Crosman 160 from the original 1955-56 model run on my Airgun Shooter Channel on here. It takes two-12g Co2 cartridges for many more shots @ 600-800fps in .22caliber. Great small game gun within 30-40 yards. With, say, a 3-9x32 duplex scope on it for some finesse shooting, it is great.

    • @Romans--bo7br
      @Romans--bo7br 7 років тому

      unionrdr...... Today's QB78 is the Chinese copy (with improvements over the original) of the Crosman 160/165 and its variants. I'm surprised that with the popularity and reputation of the QB series, that they didn't have a representation of it there..... probably because it conflicted with UMAREX marketing, and we sure wouldn't want that now... would we!?!.... especially when they're a sponsor of the show series. Politics!!!
      The Crosman 2260MB is also a great CO2 rifle these days, but not sure how much, if any.. better than the original 160 and its variants. I have four (4) variations of the QB78, the Crosman 2260MB (with mods) and the 2240 pistol that is now a carbine with 14" Walther/Lothar barrel, wood stock, trigger upgrade, reworked valve and port, and UTG scoped = Lots of Fun and very accurate.

I'm not trying to stop home invasions, just want an inexpensive way to target shoot. The old days using black powder but the other side we dont let forget the ethanol alcohol its more effective than for that.. of we apply the ethanol Power to this gun we can add more Power and efficient. I'm sorry but you can absolutely use an airgun for home defense. It is no replacement for an actual firearm, but hear me out. First of all if someone is coming at you in your house, you are most likely in a room with no exit. You are going to be in a physical altercation no matter what. If you have a one shot rifle you can do some serious injury to the person giving you an advantage for when you get into hand to hand combat with the person. I challenge any one of you to successfully fight someone with a panned out pellet shot at 800-1000 fps stuck in your face, eye, neck, ect. Second if you have a semi-automatic BB gun or a fully automatic BB gun like I do, again I challenge any one to fight me with a face full of BBs. My BB gun will fire 8 BB in about a second in full auto. If it take that person 3-4 seconds to cross the room to get to me they are going to have to do so with a hail of 32+ BB traveling at 700FPS and at the very end at point black range where I can pretty much place the barrel of the gun at any place on that persons body. It would absolutely shred the neck and carotid/brachial arteries. It is very unlikely that you will kill someone immediately but they will be seriously injured. Especially if you hit their eyes, you now eliminate their vision, or blow a carotid artery, you now have blood spurting out of their neck prompting them to panic and flee to seek medical aid (which will get them caught-another point) giving you another leg up. Now this is in the event that you are in a house, in a room, with no exit. If you have the ability to flee, then that is your best option. but if you need to get into any physical confrontation, and don't have a gun, or can't get to your gun, I would most certainly use an airgun as a first strike weapon. Aim at their face, fire, hope you hit an eye, throw it behind you and get ready to fight. If you have a semiauto, use your nondominant hand to deflect and push and jam that sucker into his neck and pull pull pull. If he goes for the gun, there is no place on the gun with better grip than the grip you have on it yourself. If you run out of bullets you now have a blunt force weapon to use. If you drop or throw the gun and the suspect goes for your gun, you now have the perfect opportunity to run while he figures out how to reload and use it. A shot to the back while you are running is highly unlikely to be fatal and you can get some pretty good distance on him. It could change the outcome of life or death.
    Now if you are prepared, like a responsible person, ESPECIALLY if you have a family, and own real guns then this whole debate is worthless. Use the firearm. This scenario is in the case that you do not have a firearm. Which is in my opinion irresponsible if you have a family. It is a father/mothers duty and responsibility to protect their children. If you have a bad guy with a gun, you better have the same and protect your family.

      +toneknob Trust me, the prod is not going to stop someone unless u snipe a surface artery, or get them in the eye. I wouldn't bet someones life on that.
      A *high power* .25 PCP preferably lever action or semi, could cause some serious harm and does penetrate well, but don't expect instant stopping power unless you get a headshot. Now a .45 or .50 cal PCP with some heavy hollowpoint slugs... that will blow a big whole through center body mass - although a semiauto powderburner still outclasses it. A .50 cal PCP would be akin to an old school blackpowder rifle.

    and I just need the velocity for a longer shot.. I kill the crows around here.. friggin pests.. only prob is they clued in, I was fine with my lil crosman 760 sub 500 fps crapper.. but now they hide 150 yards away when I come out..
    oh ps I use a diabolo shape solid steel projectile I make myself.. they seem affective all the way to 200 yards..

      A .22 lr pistol is pushing a 44 grain bullet at 138 fpe. Magnum airguns push 30 fpe.

    If you had nothing use it better then nothing. If their in your house their going to hurt you either way. Yes it will work for self defense. If I take someone eye out they will be easier to fight after.

    I have that rifle! =)
    Absolutely love it. Use it for exterminating rats near the granary.

    They may know a lot but they also tell the fluff not just the facts. The two of them for sure at this table have made a video about the sig mcx and mpx and did not included that they are just crappy guns and a waste of money.all they do is bregg things up and don't tell ya the flaw on them thanks for waisting my time and money on a product that don't perform the way it should. So I am gonna do my own reviews on a lot of air guns for you guys to get real results and answeres than the guys that make false claims on products so far sig should leave the air gun world they suck for air guns
