What has been the weirdest/hardest interview question you have ever been asked?
Many years ago, getting my first starting job with government I was asked how I would cope with being harassed by male staff members. My reply was just as inappropriate as the question along the lines of I would give them a warning and then commit an act of violence on them if it continued. Fortunately, both government and I have come a long way over many years.
@@chrish2277 wow!
@@PathtoPromotion They were good people and it was a great job. I like to think now that they appreciated my resilience in a male dominated environment.
My three favorite songs! Can you imagine? I didn’t want the job after that!
@@kmanter that is a very weird question! I wonder if the interviewer was a muso?
Ineke, you have the exact traits for a successful interviewee:
1. Pleasant
2. Nice gentle smile
3. Project great confidence, you have a great command in f your subject
4. Using your hands to help making a point.
5. Flow of your presentation
Yes, it's very often the more charismatic person who answers the questions 'correctly' and confidently who gets the job.....until months later when that person turns out to be incompetent and leaves, and the employer - who NEVER admits that these questions are a ridiculous way to judge people's abilities- - hax to go through the expense of hiring someone else all over again..
Thank you so much for making this video. I was with my previous employer for 20 years and now find myself preparing for interviews and selling myself. These tips are excellent!
Thank you Kristen
I GOT THE JOB!!!!!! Thanks for all the tips!
Had my in person interview on Monday Afternoon & got the call the next morning at 10am! 😁
Also, just a tip.. i censed that the panel had a sense of humor, so I told a joke at the end & it totally paid off! They all laughed & then told me that they value people in the role with a good sense of humor. 😜
Congratulations!!
Excellent summary and explanation of the STAR model including how to use it to advantage.
Marvellous! Simple, concise and succinct. Thank you.
Thank you for this informative and engaging video Ineke! I will definitely remember your pointers!
Thank you kindly for creating and sharing this video. I am a senior HR/OD professional with recruiting experience and I have recently managed recruiters, I give others the advice you shared in terms of using the STAR method, providing quantifiable results, being concise, etc. Yet, when it comes down to it, even I struggle with behavioral interviewing! Though you video started with the basics, I found you offered the best advice for senior-level professionals I have seen/heard. Again, thank you!
What a wonderful compliment!!!!! Thank you
This is so helpful! Wow!
Loved the Star concept!
Thank you for the video.
Thank you for this!
Brilliant explanation
What a really well put together and brilliantly delivered explanation on STAR. Fast, crisp, the animations were fabulous ... and your deep knowledge of the subject got across so much informaiton in a way i could easily remember ... i'd love to be able to edit at your level! How long did it take you to write / edit this please?
Great video and great presentation
this has been truly of value and helpful...thankyou so much for this educational video .
The content is excellent dear overlords!
Ha ha that's awesome
Great
Great tips Ineke! Those behavourial interview questions are tough!
So true! But if you follow the STAR formula, you will find it is a lot easier!
Thank you
Thank you for your sharings. I am about to take part again in this type of interviewing process so I decided to refresh the STAR model in my memory.
Most of the presentations I liked. What I didn't like is - I'll quote: ˝Don't speak badly about the organization˝.
There are people, fighters for starting awareness about more than frequent events of bullying, mobbing, different types of harassment who are impacting change in the organizations with their activities.
Communication is only one of the activities- beginning of a review of policies and procedures for Human Resources Departments could proceed with the prevention, punishment, or healing process.
Don't you agree that that deserves to be mentioned as a STAR model example considering Human Capital is priceless and with those kinds of fights and battles Human Capital gets the position of the most valuable asset not only in the wording - the reality is what it counts?
Very Truly said, Its not best employee but its best interviewee at that moment, not just interviews , it applies to other things in life :)
It’s a good and well structured method to answer the behavioural questions. Thanks for that. Can you just outline the key points one can use this technique for an analyst and consulting roles. Thanks in advance.
I totally understand about getting tongue-tied. Once, years ago, I worked for a company that had the word “transitions” in the name. Well, do you think I could say that word when answering the phone, or referring to the organization? Not at all and it only got worse! Fortunately, I found another role more suited to my experience and interestingly, WAS able to pronounce the word later when I tried.
Great viseo
Thank you!
I was hanging on your every word, taking notes, and I still missed step 4 in the 7 steps. Great presentation!
Your video content is really useful and more professional (especially at higher level positions) as most of the videos here seem like they aren't meant for senior roles
Thank you Tashmit, have you seen our video on how to perform in a senior interview?
@@PathtoPromotion Let me go watch that too :)
So I have an interview for an entry level claims adjuster position. I held my last job for 23 years therefore haven't interviewed in quite a while. Though I literally have 100's of examples for behavioral situations, I am concerned that I will not come across as strong as I would like due to the lack of interview experience. Any suggestions on how to steady myself for the interview? Note: I am 65, this would be a new career opportunity for me. It is an online panel interview. Ykes.
Where is step 4? The video goes from 3 straight to step 5.
How do I answer the question,,, “what was your least favorite task at your last job and why?”
If the interviewer/recruiter would ask you.....are you currently giving interviews for other company's? What should one reply? Speak the truth or say that this is the only one organization they are looking after...
It's always best to be open and transparent. I wouldn't necessarily tell them the names of the businesses but you do need to let the company be aware of where you are in a process so they can adjust their timing if they need to. You can reiterate here why this role interests you.
So beautiful women 😍
Good content. Thank you. You might want to consider a more professional video editing avoiding teenager bells and whistles as the pointers noise, and the "twiter birds" are quite distracting and annoying.
Thanks for the best Techniques & most valuable, but I didn't get the 4th Key Step
So beautiful women 😍
