Jerusalem is a place we have known about since before we can remember. It was a surreal experience walking the streets of the Old Town today, but it was also emotionally draining for many reasons. We explored as much as possible in one day including the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, Via Dolorosa, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Mount of Olives, and of course, we ate some delicious local foods. But for some reason, this place wasn’t like we pictured it being.
Israel is a very complicated place, so here are some of our favorite UA-camrs who explain the history much better than we can:

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Meanwhile countries that banned Christianity (and all religion) like the Soviet union, Communist China etc etc have been guilty of the worst genocides and mass killings in the world's history, in the 20th century alone Godless communists killed over 100 MILLION innocent people (100M!!!) ... many more people have died at the hands of communism, atheism and other godless ideologies than at the hands of Christianity (which as I mentioned is the basis for our prosperity today).

Kate and Nate... A video you were so nervous about making is, in my opinion, one of the best you have ever put out. I have led five pilgrimages to Jerusalem (one is never a tourist but a pilgrim in the Holy Land) and I must say that you both showed the raw emotion and spiritual awareness that this great city brings. You did a wonderful job of showing the intersection of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. On my first visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre I felt exactly the same way you did and was told to do exactly what you suggested - return early in the morning - and the experience was totally different and caused me to look at the scriptures and my faith through new eye glasses. Very well done!

Glad that you said that. As someone who supports Palestine, please don’t say that you don’t support the Israeli community. The Israeli community is not the one who controls the rockets; not the police who so violently barricade mosques and Muslim holy sites. Calling the Israeli community bad is like saying Muslims are bad because of ISIS. Don’t hate the communities and citizens, fight against the Governments pulling the strings and corruption; misunderstandings of religions and hate.

It's Jesus pulling at your heartstrings💝 plus the fact that that city is the most important, significant place on Earth. You have to ask yourself, why does this tine piece of ancient land in the middle east get so much attention from every nation and power on earth? How does this place cause world-wide conflict? Why does everybody have A strong polarizing opinion, positive or negative? Do some research on the history of this place, and be amazed at how it even exists today. Most importantly though, seek Jesus Christ and His Word. Btw, I think your comment here is PROFOUNDLY BEAUITFUL !!! Thank you for leaving it. The last few days in Israel have been devastating to all of us here, and we really need everyone in the world to know what had happened this terrible Saturday in Israel. If you will be willing to share the stories of what happened to innocent Israeli citizens the past week and support Israel, and share it with the rest of the community following you, it will mean so much to me and to many others here in Israel. I hope some day peace will come to all the people in our area, but first we must have the world's support!

I lived in Israel for 6 years and know Jerusalem reasonably well, and honestly, for being in that crazy place just one day, you've done really well, both in your selection of places to go to as well as the presentation. To me who fancies himself half a local, it's always great fun and joy seeing other people's reactions to it, of re-experiencing the raw emotions that come with being in this place for the first time. Do come back and explore more of that country, because you literally never run out of new corners to visit.

Not necessarily. God knows their hearts. There might have been holier crowds - maybe 3 days and 4 minutes before they arrived, or 5 seconds after they left. Or 1901 years ago, plus some months etc. We just don't know, and it's not relevant for following God. Only God knows when there was the greatest amount of holiness in that place. Especially if that's not the place where Jesus was crucified. We people make so many mistakes, I wouldn't be surprised if that place would not be the place it's thought to be. And tho places can be holy, it's still more relevant for our hearts to be holy - the appartment of the Holy Spirit Jesus sent us. That should be the goal of our hearts.
And the Bible doesn't guide us to worship places, walls, tables etc. - but God who is in the Heavens. We don't need to do that through stones, and certainly not through some objetcs we made. It's like talking to the kitchen wall and asking it to tell your wife what you have in your heart, instead of speaking to her.

I have visited Jerusalem twice. The press of humanity is a testament to the significance of the City of Peace to the three major monotheistic religions: Jews, Christians and Islam. A;; three claim Abraham as their father. We pray for the day when all will exist in harmony. While in the Holy Sepulchure you shared the site of the crucifixion and the anointing stone. I hope you went around the corner to the chapel over the empty tomb (the sepelchure) too. You are correct, if you want a moment of peace and prayer at this site, the earlier you arrive the better. Thanks for sharing your travels and especially the Holy City.
