There are few cities in the world that can compare to Jerusalem in terms of ancient history and religious significance. It’s one of the most fascinating cities in the world, and it’s a city that I’ve wanted to visit my entire life. Finally, along with my friend David ( / the.hungry.tourist ) and Rafram, we explored Jerusalem to discover the food treasures the city has to offer - and let me tell you, you’ll find some incredibly delicious food in Jerusalem!
We started off the Jerusalem food tour by first walking around East Jerusalem and starting with the best plate of hummus I’ve ever had. We then toured around Old Jerusalem, and enjoyed some incredible Palestinian food kebabs cooked by an incredible man who cooked with serious love and passion. Another highlight in Jerusalem was the mutabak, a thin pastry stuffed with cheese and baked.
After eating our way through Old Jerusalem, we then headed into West Jerusalem and went to lunch at an Israeli Jewish restaurant serving a mix of amazing dishes. The food was home-cooked in style, and absolutely sensation. A few more snacks and sightseeing throughout the afternoon, and that brought us all the way to dinner where David had made reservations to eat at one of the hottest restaurants in Jerusalem, Machneyuda Restaurant. It was quite an experience, and an amazing meal and lively atmosphere to wrap up this ultimate Jerusalem food tour.
Here’s all the food and places included in this Palestinian food and Israeli food tour of Jerusalem:
Hummus Acramawi
Price - 20 ILS ($5.57) per plate
Almond juice - 3.90 ILS ($1.09)

Fruit - 10 ILS ($2.76) per kg.

Western Wall (Wailing Wall)
Western Wall Tunnel
Price - 35 ILS ($9.76) per person
Dome of the Rock
Mount of Olives
Machneyuda Restaurant
Total price - 700 ILS ($195.21)
It was a lot of food in a single day, but it was one of the greatest food and learning days that I’ve ever had in my life. The generosity of the people we connected with, paired with the food, was truly a memorable experience in Jerusalem.
Thank you again to David ( / the.hungry.tourist ) and Rafram for showing me some of the best food in Jerusalem!

I was invited to speak at a Thailand embassy event in Tel Aviv, and then my wife and I stayed on for an extra week. We visited Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ashdod, Bethlehem, and Hebron. I met incredibly generous people and ate some unbelievably delicious food. I hope you appreciate the food, but I encourage you to respectfully refrain from argument and conflict. This video is about food and the loving people who prepared it. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind respect!

Palestinians are so nice despite the evil they are subjected to by the colonizers every day. God bless them!
@@simonkarlsson6692they've never been a country
@@zevelgamer. This isn't actually a statement relevant to the Palestine-Israel conflict. Palestine has always been part of a greater whole with it's own distinctive culture, dialect, history, and cuisine. Justifying the colonization of Palestine just because they've never been an independent nation is basically like saying it would be cool if someone colonized California because California has never been a country.
@@mtr3754 actually, California was a independent country for 25 days. Also Israel didn't colonize anyone, the Palestinian identity was only a thing from the 20th century. Israel has Been a thing for thousands of years. What's your point?
@@mtr3754 Except that California is part of a functioning nation. Palestine wasn't part of a nation before Israel was establised, it was just an area, the brits had won over after defeating the Ottoman Empire.

non of these foods are israeli or palestinian they all originated in places like egypt persia and greece
@@yonatanmonneler1744 Palestinian food just like all Arab food is unique and yes it draws inspiration from other cultures but Arab food has been unique for thousands of years
Palestine was named so by people that stole the land from the Jews. Arabs can't even pronounce the P, they are also colonizers, that's how Arabs and Muslims got there.
They subjugated and massacred Jews for thousands of years and called that "peaceful" their only problem began when Jews started defending themselves.

I don't usually comment but feel compelled to just thank you for taking me along with you on this tour of Jerusalem. It is a place I have always wanted to go to but sadly will never get to due to poor health. Thanks to you I just spent 40 minutes walking the streets with you and feeling the walls of the ancient temple, seeing the aqueduct and almost smelling the smells of the 'bazaar'. The food, in this video, was secondary to me. I saw the road that my Lord carried His cross on. All of this was just almost beyond words for me. That older kebab shop owner with the machete was one of the most amazing sights I've ever seen, so cool how skilfully he prepared the food!
That was not sanitary at all. I wouldn't have eaten there. You don't prepare raw meat on the same counter or cutting board as you prepare vegetables. That's called cross contamination. And he needs some gloves, his hands got pretty nasty when preparing that meat. He also wiped his machete off with rag, no hot water or anything. I hope Mark didn't get sick. People don't realize that raw meat produces bacteria and that bacteria gets on any counter or cutting board you prepare the raw meat on. If you prepare veggies on the same board or counter it's a good chance the bacteria from the raw meat will transfer into your salad. He should have one board for preparing meat and another for preparing vegetables.
WITLESSMASS i feel the same way. very disappointing
stay home and eat your hygienic takeaway burger.
I've lived in the Middle East, the Far East, Europe and other places all over the world and I'm still alive because I was smart enough to be careful in regards to proper food preparation and what I put into my body. Only a fool would travel the world and not be aware of what he's eating and how it's being prepared. The same goes for your home town eateries as well. Now that last place Mark visited was well put together and sanitary. www.foodrepublic.com/2012/06/26/8-kinds-of-food-poisoning-to-know-and-avoid/

There no such thing as Palestinian food, those are all foods from other nations.
@@Nicolay406 Yes, there is. I am not referring to "Israeli food." Which is food from all around the world, because jews came from all around the world. Palestinian cuisine is cuisines that can be found all around the levant-area.
Nicolas_Vered This food is from Arab countries, Palestinians are Arabs. "Israeli" food does not exist.
@@lizevingamos7063 idiot, Palestine simply didn't exist before the Jews came here.
It was Jordan not Palestine
And don't argue with me without researching about it first.
@SH2000 3RDP there have been various tribes of people, all descendants of Noah's sons, moving around the area.
Arabs came from south east Syria region.
Everyone came from somewhere.
"Pre Judean" just means pre "kingdom of Judah", which was one of the 2 kingdoms of the Tribes of Israel after they split (in about 930 BC) Before the split it was just Israel (who settled back into the land after exile in Egypt), who is another name for Jacob, there was Isaac, and Abraham, who lived about 2000 BC.
Canaanites came and went, just like Israel's forefathers came and went through the region.
Israel's claim is that God promised the land to Abraham's descendants. This is the point of contention, because Muhhamad claimed that the Arabs are the descendants of Ismail, and he was the rightful inheritor of Abraham's promise.
The problem is that Muhammad wrote this interpretation in the Quran 600 years after Jesus, and almost 1200 years after Moses' writings.
Interestingly, in the Quran, Palestine or Jerusalem are not even mentioned, because during Muhammad's time Arabs didn't have control of that land.

how can he eat all this food and stay constantly thin?
It’s called he has a fast metabolism look it up
I guess he doesn't eat this much every single day. He also doesn't douse everything with sweet drinks.
Do you see him travelling by car? Nope.
Magic!!!!
I watch in awe and at shocking at times LOL! Mark eats food with very big bites as in his mouth full of food and continuously describing how flavorful they are! Amazing )))
Such a happy video to come to. Especially with the state of palestine gaza and west bank currently. It made me happy atleast temporarily 😢
Loved that very much Mark...like we were all there tasting those beautiful food mate. God bless
The Palestinians were so nice and had such good vibes, great video. Proves that peace is definitely possible since the majority of the time it is safe and ppl are respectful of one another.
All arabs are like that! Luv my people for who they are ❤
S.H. K. They also left Lebanon bc of the rockets lol
Jasmin I Oslo love your people. Love from and Israeli Jew. Middle easterns unite
I wouldn't call terrorism and rockets on a weekly basis a peaceful time...
A H lmao weekly rockets? Sure. You just showed how little you know about israel and Palestine. Turns out israelis aren’t dying daily like u think they are. Turns out the crime and the murder rate is super low in Israel and Palestine. U should go do some research, “weekly rockets” hahaha maybe bottle rockets weekly.

@@zulionsaren6022 Not weird at all. Here in the Middle East we are not shy to express our love

Food looks insanely delicious and people seems very friendly. 🌻🧡
I was lucky enough to visit Jerusalem many years ago (early 70s). I loved every minute, it's still one of my favorite cities in the world. I remember eating a lot of felafel. This is a great video, very fun.
God bless and reward all Palestinian, Syrian for bearing patience with different types of calamities. Ameen
Where are the Jewish people?
Amin.

@sanjay a p p Palestine will be free. Many countries occupied by many people in past but eventually they got freedom. Similarly Palestine will also get its freedom.
@sanjay a p p poor boy don't know anything.Palestinian living in Palestine since 600 and jew came only in 1947. And all Jews are European no one is Semitic.
Everything looked so delicious. Definitely on my travel list.
After tasting the salad and they start kissing the old man ,that was cute ❤
Did he clean the board after he prepared the meat and start to chop up the salad? 😀😀
@@cindycai9196 in the Levant they would eat that meat raw anyway so I don’t think they care too much about cutting a salad on the same board 😂 chicken is obviously a different story though
I’ve been there this man was so cute ❤️
@@cindycai9196 .. Who knows, he might have paused the taping and then started filming again when the next batch of food prep was coming up. Go back & check what state the board is in just before he places the salad on it ..
That was nice
Thank your for covering the food of the Palestinian people so beautifully. The facial expressions you had after each bite were priceless!
what do you mean by iragi food?
When your identity is based on a false belief i.e. "Hummus was eaten by Russians before they brought it to Israel" you will always fight tooth and nail to protect that belief from the actual truth. This cuisine was cooked and created by Palestinians thousands of years before 1948. Whether you want to believe the truth is up to you. You might also believe that sheep fly over the moon, but it won't mean everyone is going to believe your "truth". In the end there is enough intrinsic culinary talent among Israeli chefs that they don't need to claim Palestinian food. But this is a deliberate propaganda campaign that reaches the highest echelons of Israeli government, in order to render Palestinians invisible, physically and culturally. That is why the push back is so severe.

Your Ancestors emigrate in to Israel looking after the wealth the israelis brought to the country and the " stole the name from the Romans who called this region of their empire " provincia palestina" there is no history about so called "palestinians" before 1948....sorry !
So awesome!! Thank you so much for this video. The way you explained the food made me feel like I was enjoying it myself! YAHWEH bless you and yours 😊
Mark brings out the best in people. What a gift he doesn't even know he has. That makes him even more necessary.🤔🙏👍
Most mouth-watering episode. I tried making hummus, kebab and baba ganoush at home, man it was insane!!! It made me sing "A Whole New World"
