The whole ocean races shows us the real definition of the word „Team“.
Such an amazing effort of 11th Hour, but also from all the other Teams with there big problems.

Incredible job by the shore team to put Malama out to sea in such a short time. Enormous respect for Charlie and Mark for their leadership at an extremely stressful time and also for the shore team for putting in back-breaking work nonstop to make this possible.

Auch wenn 11 Hour Racing nicht mein Lieblingsteam ist, so ist das eine sehr beeindruckende Leistung und ich wünsche dem gesamten Team viel Erfolg und dass die Reparatur hält! Good Luck!

A very impressive fix, that’s tested okay with the NDT equipment. A magnificent testament to dedication and total resolve to rectify something that many said couldn’t be done and was accomplished without lifting her out of the water.
Have a great sail to Genova and if you get there in a shorter elapsed time it may give you some points in the overall score standing. Stay safe and have a speedy trip👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩✅✅✅⛵️⛵️⛵️

I love this team and have been rooting for you since the beginning of the race. Having said that, considering that your main sponsor is 11th hour racing, I find it hard to believe that the repair of the boat was all done on the water. All the sanding, all the debris from the repair will be polluting those waters!

    Fantastic job!
Big respect to all involved, I’ve faced similar situations through a career in motorsport so I can fully appreciate the dedication, teamwork, determination and confluence of specialist skillsets that it takes to achieve the extraordinary against the clock.
Now that chapter is done, so race faces on, eyes on the ball and catch up with the rest of the fleet.
Wishing you all the best. Cheers, R.

Respectfully suggesting that in the next edition of TOR could you have an in-port race for the points, sponsors and a big party, but on Ocean Leg day could you just send the boats off without all the nonsense?

    • @kallewirsch2263

      Just my thoughts.
What is the point in this "micro race" if there aren't even points to win. There is no point in those "races", legs are not won or lost (with the exception of damage) in this sections.
Either grant points to the boats when passing the departure gate or skip this all togther.

How about explaining How the repair was done? Was the replacement core material simply foam, as opposed to apparently honeycomb material? How much overlap onto existing hull was sanded down then epoxied w carbon? To the patch? More!!! Pics of the Work. We know what the sailors look like! Would love to know! And hear from the Tech team!!! Thanks

One could see that the Teams do Not care about the ocean at all, poluting the harbour with all the bits and pieces and dust while repairing the boat. They did not even think about how to protect the Water. A shame on 11thHour for Not Holding on to their own policies. At the end it is all plastic they bring on to the oceans and leave it there, or what happened to the boat that cracked in the middle of the ocean on the Vendee Globe?

We need a whole new concept beyond greenwashing for what 11th Hour Racing has done.
They presented their project as a leap forward in sustainability and environmental protection. On their webpage they say: "We have a dedicated team bringing sustainable solutions to the heart of all team operations to leave a positive impact in our wake".
Question? What positive impact has 11th hour racing left to the Hague's waters? The repairs they made (in the water, because taking the boat out would have caused more delayed to their precious little race) have dumped highly toxic chemical in the water. (Ironically enough, even in their own propaganda video we can actually see the water pollution they created).
But I think this story is the perfect illustration of the parasitic effect of humans.
Here is a bunch of humans who pretent to care deeply about the environment (the ocean race is even planning to deliver some sort of chart to protect the oceans) but short terms and fundamentally useless considerations (such as winning a race) make them breach their own values and principles.
Of course, they will justify it by saying that a) the waters around la Hague are already hugely polluted and b) the pollution from the repairs are minimal.
And that is exactly why every fucking human is a parasite. My own little pollution is not what is destroying the planet, it is some else's pollution the problem.
I sure hope the pod of Orcas attacking boats of Gibraltar will sink this ship!!!
There is only one way to save the planet: culling the parasite!! So why not start with the most hypocritical of them all.
    #SaveThePlanetKillHumans

Quite simply...if the helmsman hadn't been stubborn in wanting to absolutely have the right of way, just a little jerk of the helm to bear away, and that wouldn't have happened...you can very well shout on a pedestrian crossing, I have priority, and go...towards death...BUT, I had priority....hence the weakness of competitions....!! he is as responsible as the Hublot boat...!! when you're smart you sometimes have to "let go"....!!
