Your video testimonials at the end are nothing short of inspiring. My personal goal for myself and my wonderful pup is to become the best trainer I can be so that he can become the incredible dog I know he can be. I may have limitations but I am already feeling more confident about a really positive outcome. Thank you, Nate.
Thanks! And you're doing a great job in the program. :)
There's something about watching dogs learn that is rewarding to me.
I come back every week just for this reason.
The excitement they show when they finally understand what we want. 🐕😊
I agree. :) Thanks again, Kevin.
My brother is getting a dog and i immediately told him to look you up on UA-cam cause your videos are literally the only ones I look at when it comes to teaching a new command. Especially since you already have the videos in a playlist which made it so much easier for me and now…. Him (as soon as he picks the puppy up)
Hi there Nate, i been keeping gun dogs for last 28 odd years and i love dog training but i never seen a dog trainer like yourself, hats off to you for all of your video.
Awesome. Thank you, I appreciate that very much!
Thanks for the video Nate! The fact you post these on here for free are awesome, I've learnt so much and has helped me become a better dog trianer for work. I can see how passionate you are about the topic 😁
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. After this series, I'll be starting a new series on how to start a successful dog training business. I'll be looking for other dog trainers to interview. If you think you may be interested, send me an email and let me know. It won't be for a while though, as we still have a lot to do with this series. Thanks! NateSchoemer@gmail.com
Cheers!
@@NateSchoemeroh I’m so excited thank you !!
Oh man!! That's a great idea!!! Shelters could definitely benefit from having dogs trained.
Absolutely! :)
@@NateSchoemer I actually followed your advice (kinda) I have a friend that her dog is not very well trained and I offer to train him since I think I can get him to stop doing a few bad behaviors. He is 2yrs old so I won't say I'm a little skeptical but confident enough to try it.
This is so so helpful!!
As someone who will soon be setting up their training business, it's perfect. Thanks for taking the time to help people like me so I can help others with their dogs
Great explanation. May I suggest showing each step.
Just ordered your manual! So excited!! Love your videos and appreciate you putting these out there for people like me who love doing this but can not afford schooling. It's a blessing!
Thanks, I appreciate that and I'm happy the training has been so helpful. Cheers!
Those doggos look like they're have so much fun! Great video. cheers!
Thanks, Ryan!
Hi There Nate... I Watched Your Live Q&A Last Night n It Was... Of Course AMAZING!!!
BUT I Have 2 Issues That Im Facing RIGHT NOW That Are In Regards To You n Your ARIH And CHARLIE'S Freeze Dried Dog Food... n The Entire JOINING AS A MEMBER To YOUR UA-cam CHANNEL...
FIRST LET ME SAY.... I Have Approx 292 Of Your Free Videos That Im Consumed By... n I Have Gotten Thru MANY!!! N Me n My 15 Month Old GSD... Kal... ARE ALL THE BETTER FOR IT... We Train Daily N We Even Train Some Things On Our Morning Walks n HE GETS SOOOO AMP'D FOR HIS DOWN-STAYS!!! Right Now I Have Him Doing The DOWN, SIT, STAND Continuous Reps... He Is Getting So Good... We Just Started To Train... Just Wish That His Recall n Heel Was LOT BETTER!!! CANT FIGURE THOSE OUT AT ALL!!! With Time HOPEFULLY!!! BUT THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING THE TOOLS THAT WE NEED TO IMPROVE EVEN IF IN TIME!!! YOURE THE VERY BEST!!!! YOURE ALL ABOUT THE PUPS N THE PPL!!!! THATS WHY I HAVE LOVE FOR YA!!! I RESPECT YOU MORE THAN ANY OTHER TRAINER I HAVE SEEN BY FAR!!!! I Have Watched Many Other Trainers Videos Tho Not With The Intensity That I Follow Your's!!!
ANYWAY... Back To The Issues Im Having... IM SO SORRY BUT I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO CUT MY TEXTS DOWN TO REASONABLE LENGTHS... EVERYONE HATES ME FOR IT!!!
AAAANYWAY... BACK TO IT... SOMETIMES MY A.D.D. KICKS IT... LOL...
But I REALLY Want To Buy Some Of Your Dog Food n I Cant Find It Not Even On The Arih and Charlie's Website... At All!!! Not Even A Mention... Idk Why!!! HOPEFULLY YOUD BE ABLE TO SHED SOME LIGHT... AS It Is Im Using The N&D Pumpkin Lamb Medium/Maxi Size Pieces Bcuz Its All I Could Find After You Replied To My Lengthy Comment About Using Hot Dogs As A Reward n You Said That N&D n Some Freeze Dried Treats Or Food Would Be Better... Well Ive Done Both... The N&D Med/Maxi Pumpkin AND Some Nice Freeze Dried Beef n Lamb Livers... He Prefers Beef... So Do I Since The Pieces Are Much Larger By Comparison... But Now I Only Use Those As A Higher Value Reward Since They Tend To Dry Him Out n Fot Some Reason He Doesnt Like To Drink Out Of The Travel Bowl I Bring With Us N Ive Tried Every Type Of Water I Can Think Of From Our Well Water... To Bottled Purified Water To Bottled Artisian Water... Yet He Drank Some Water That I Kept Catching In My Hand From A Sprinkler Today... Lol!!!
Anyway... The OTHER HUGE ISSUE IM HAVING IS... I AM DYING TO JOIN THE CHANNEL STILL EVEN THO I HAVE SO MANY VIDEOS FOR FREE... THE FREE ISNT IMPORTANT AS MUCH AS TGE SUPPORT THAT I WOULD RATHER PROVIDE FROM JOINING THE CHANNEL N BUYING THE FOOD... IT WOULD MEAN SO MUCH... AS I AM DISABLED N ALSO AM TERMINAL WITH 3 FORMS OF CANCER... YET IM ATTEMPTING TO GET HIM READY OBEDIENCE N BEHAVIORALLY WISE FOR MY NIECE N HER FAMILY WHEN THE TIME COMES!!!
The Problem That I Have With The Joining Is That I HATE GOOGLE PLAY STORE BCUZ MY ACCTS HAS BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WHICH I DONT HAVE TO WAVE OFF... I HAD TO CLOSE N OPEN NEW ACCTS SO NOW I HAVE TO RESORT... FOR MY COMFORT... TO ONLY PUTTING ENOUGH MONEY INTO EITHER OF MY CHECKING ACCTS TO COVER WHAT I KNOW I NEED... OTHERWISE IM HORRIFIED THAT ILL BE HIT AGAIN...
ANYWAY... IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY AT ALL TO PAY YOU TO JOIN THE CHANNEL?!?!? THIS WOULD MEAN SO MUCH TO ME!!! OTHERWISE IT LOOKS LIKE ILL HAVE TO RUN THE RISK OG LOSING THE ACCT N GOING THRU IT ALL.... AGAIN....BCUZ JOINING MEANS THAT MUCH TO ME.... TRULY!!! There Are So Many Things That I Appreciate About You n Just Today I Heard You Say That You Were A Drill Instructor In The Military... My Father/Pop Was A Vietnam Veteran As Well As My Pepere/Grandfather Was A WW2 Vereran As Well As Many Other Family Members n Friends That I Have Are Veterans Too... I Wish That I Couldve Served... But Stupid Asthma Disqualified Me In Every Branch That I Tried!!! Which Was All But The Coast Guard... I Support The Veteran Owned n Operated Business As Best Ss I Can... Both My Pup's Harness/Vest n His Tactical Collar Have American Flags On Them... Ive Thought About Putting On The "MY MAMA SAYS IM SPECIAL" Patch On His Collar Too... But Sadly He No Longer Has A Mama... Just A Papa... But Itd Show Even More Support For The Spec Ops Groups Out There So Theres A VERY GOOD CHANCE ILL BE PUTTING IT ON SOON!!! Lol!!!
ANYWAY... AGAIN... POINTS... CANT FIND THE ARIH N CHARLIE'S FREEZE DRIED FOOD ANYWHERE.... N I WANT TO JOIN IN THE WORST WAY BUT WOULD PREFER IN A MAJOR WAY TO PAY YOU IN ANOTHER METHOD OR WAY OVER GOOGLE PLAY STORE...
Well Thank You Sooo Much For Everything... All You Do For Us Humans n Our Loved Pups!!! As Well Ss Your Service For Our Country's Freedom n Way Of Life... I Think Im a Bit Older Than You... I Just Turned 50y.o... You Look Like You Might Be In Your Mid 30s... But Arih Is An Unbelievable 9yrs Old!!!! N Charlie Is Just The Most Adorable Pup Ever... His Personality Is Second To None... N YOUR GSD IS AMAZING TOO!!! He Caught On Quickly When It Came To You Teaching Him Not To Run In The Road!!! VERY IMPRESSED!!!
Anyway... Yep... Again... Thank You For It All Nate... Mr. Shoemer!!! YOU DESERVE THAT RESPECT FOR SURE, SIR!!!!
WELL... HAVE A GREAT DAY N IF YOU READ THIS AT ANY POINT I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW OF ANY SOLUTION TO THESE ISSUES!!! MUCH APPRECIATED!!! Have A Great Night n Days Ahead!!! 😊
Yes
Hi nate, I absolutely love the video! I often train at children's playgrounds myself. It's a wonderful way to expose my dogs to a variety of textures as well as a variety of children and adults. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! :)
Thank you Sir 🤠. I learned much from you.
As always impressed with your teachings and trained dogs! Just beautiful ❤️.
Thank you so much, Lita! :)
Hi Nate
Is your pet insurance good only in the U.S.?
Nate I always liked and respected u but the fact that u also do jiu jitsu just put u on another level. Thanks for all the great info and ossssa brother.
Thanks, I really appreciate that! Oss!
Awesome video Nate!! Loving the series..hope one day it can reach to what to do for protection training as well!
Thank you! :)
Thanks for sharing with us all your knowledge I really appreciate it, I'm starting the training with my puppy!
Awesome! Thank you, and congrats!
Such an amazing video! Just in time to help me with my three rescue dog pups!!!
Thanks! :)
I love this! I am curious about the playground training if you could do a video on that!
Thanks! I'll add that to the list of future videos. Cheers!
Great! very good advice. Thank you
Thanks!
I'd love to be able to take mine to a kid's playground to train but we aren't allowed to have dogs in a playground area unfortunately. We just improvise wherever we go. Nothing like variety to keep them interested and build confidence. 🙂 I know I've said it before but I love your videos - there is always something to be gained by hearing your training thoughts and ideas. Thanks. 👍
Thank you so much, Sue; I appreciate it. And yes, training at local parks is a lot of fun. :)
excited to see what I can learn in this video 😎 thank you Nate!!
Awesome! Thanks for the constant support. Cheers!
Ivan recommended you as a great trainer, wasn't wrong! Good job!
Thank you, I really appreciate that! Cheers! :)
I’m in awe! You make this so fun for both handler and dog. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me. BTW a little weird but, when I get a chance to take a cat nap I’ll put one of your videos or audio book on…helps me relax and I “learn” more while part of my brain is resting.
Awesome! Thanks! And that's not weird at all. I often listen to audiobooks when I'm resting. :)
Nate, id like an explanation of how to properly leash pop. If this is in another video I haven't found it yet!
Of course. Jump to 12:05 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ewq_sw0zMr0/v-deo.html
Cheers!
Hey Nate, great and informative video. You touched on the question I had a few weeks back about becoming a trainer. I guess it would be easier to try it with friends dogs before seeing if it's something to actually get into. Even if that wasn't the message I kinda looked at it that way. Oh, and the production of your videos are awesome! Great job!
Thanks, Drake! Yes, Practicing on family, friends, shelters, and rescue dogs is a great way to get started and see if it's a career you would want to pursue. Cheers!
Great video Nate. 🙏
Thank you, G K! :)
More great info!!
Thank you again! :)
I personally have no set times for a teaching schedule for my dog. Its more about looking for teaching opportunities and being consistant. I have tought my Ruby this way and she knows over 60 tricks so far :)
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Nate. I'm interested in the shepherd type dogs. Want a good one for the family(6&3 yr old) I'm studying up on your material and getting confident about training. But a dog that is easiest to train and great with kids is what is want. GSD, Mal, or Dutchie? What do you recommend? Thank you.
In this video you said you do two sessions per day per dog. But you also said as many reps as possible. Is that “as many reps as possible within each session?” Or are these two different scenarios?
Thanks!
On average, I’ll do two sessions a day with most dogs I train. However, if you have more time and the dog can do more sessions without being overwhelmed, then that’s great. The reps could be referring to the reps per session. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for commenting. Cheers!
I’m teaching my puppy luring, she’s 10 weeks old, I don’t know when to start name in the command?
Once we have our dog performing the action the way that we like with our physical cue, it is then time to give the behavior a command. The command can be physical or verbal. In order for your dog to learn the command, you must say or perform the command ONCE and then show your dog the physical cue. Don’t make the mistake of repeating the command or saying something like “good sit” after the dog is already sitting, which can send mixed signals to a dog that is already sitting.
@@NateSchoemer thank you!! If I can ask one more question, my pup is a mal and besides kibble, when I’m playing with him to tire him out, he looses interest fast, I don’t know how to keep his attention without treats.
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thanks!
Hey Nate I have a problem
When I train my 4 months puppy and I say him to sit he bark at me and bite me and he don't listen my command and if I say him no to do this things he do continuously
Pls say me this problem solution 🙏❤️
Watch my basic obedience series and go through each step. ua-cam.com/video/cc8hX4lCGiY/v-deo.html
So.... When are u opening up a school 😎
Lol! Who knows. Maybe it'll be something I do in the future. Cheers!
♥️❤️❤️👍👍👍💝
Thanks! :)
Tom Rose school has been closed for some time now.
It's not closed. I talked to him literally last week. The school is doing great and still producing excellent dog trainers. In fact, they are also one again accepting the GI bill. Cheers!
Where is it? The only one I know is in St Louis
🐕👍😎
Thanks, G17! :)
I try training AFTER my dogs experience "adversives" like confinement or nail trimming. That way, training becomes an "up" experience for the dog.
