Thanks. Over the past few weeks we got 3 rescue dogs (What were we thinking??) Ages range from 5 months to 3 years. All have their own crates and we are training them separately. I like the idea of pattern & consistency . Each dog has his own place in the order of things. The dogs don't have the run of the house yet because they are still getting used to our cats. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

This is super helpful! I have a standard poodle who is so quick to learn and a chihuahua mix who relies more heavily on habit and is slower to learn. Thank you!
I have two Great Danes under the age of two and making the HUGE mistake of treating them as this conjoined unit with two heads. It seems that training them individually is KEY! I've got my work cut out for me - good lord. Thanks for the vid!

Might be a stupid question, but my brother just got our own shepherds and live together. Should we train our own at the same time or teach them to learn that one is training and the other dog in the crate..?
I thought of a question related to your use of "patterns". I have dog friends who I do things with regularly (all GSD's), when we ride in the car or enter a house or building should we be concerned with which dog goes in first?
Only if you want things in order then yes it will help. All the little things you implement will help. If the order of going through the door does not matter then its no big deal.. Check out the links I have provided for you for more great info. :)
Great video. One question: Do I need to use different markers for each dog? When one does something right and the other doesn't do it, saying 'nice' feels likes reinforcing the wrong behaviour. I do train them separately every day, but this is for on walks when I need to mark good heeling, sitting at kerbs etc. I have 2 high energy dogs, 3 hours of walks a day so impossible to fit 3 hours of walks for each dog into every day.. I remember when I was trying to make my dogs walk in a pattern like yours but it didn't work. They won't treat me as a leader when they're together, but when I separate them they're pretty obedient. What should I do to achieve obiedence within a pack too? I can't taking them on walks separately for my whole life.
This video is old, but what if you have 5? They are all inside dogs, they sleep on the couches and the beds. I did have 3 to begin with then when I bought my home 2 strays came in on move in day and they stayed on the porch like they lived there so we adopted them, I know, avid dog lovers here. Our dogs were already trained to Sit, get down and know the meaning of the word No, means stop what they are doing. They will stop what they are doing, say Bane trying to climb through a hole in the fence or Dixie antagonizing Mr. Earl. They don't listen right away with my husband that's because when his bipolar kicks in he yells, on the phone or otherwise, just talks loudly and passionately, they all cower behind me, including Dixie, the Alpha of the pack. She sees me as the Alpha of everyone, but she makes sure the dogs stays in line and protects me as well. But when she is in heat cycle she will not let Bane, the only unfixed dog around her, that is her size and weight class (She is boxer, pit mixed He is lab, hound mix) she will not let him anywhere near him. The two new dogs, one an older dog I am guessing on her teeth and habits (bad leg or hip that acts up when she moves too much so she spends a lot of time sleeping, and the other a younger, like a year old dog. The older dog knows sit and no as far as I can tell and the younger one with absolutely no training. Jumps up and even if you push her down she will jump back up again. So she will need one on one training that the others don't need, sit, I've noticed during treat times they are required to sit, so she is starting to learn that. But will work on no jumping and training not to eat the house like bane did. The older dog is a pit and laid back on everything. Every once in while she gets some spunk in her and will jump up, nip, etc. like a puppy. The younger is a mix but mostly lab. Hence the hyper and chewing infatuation. She doesn't just jump up on you she paws her way up and when pushed back will do the same as well trying to get behind you. I know this comment is long, but worth it for the knowledge that I seek.
if I have a big cage that is split into 2 areas that are big enough to hold 2 dogs comfortably in each is it ok to put 2 in each side cause I no you said they should be spending more time with us than other dogs, by the way, I will be using the stuff from this video having hell with my 4 but mostly one that thinks she can do anything
As long as they are safe together and you spend some on on one time each day. Once they are trained more bring them together and begin working two together. Then three and eventually you’ll be like Duke. 🙌

I have 7 dogs 🤭 Does the pattern need a reason, can I do hyper to calm dog, older to younger, cutest to ugliest (joke) or should I try to determine most dominant and do them first or last?
when working one dog at a time it always best to have the non working dog out of sight? or if my older dog will "place" while I work the younger is that ok..?. my next big challenge is the older dog is having puppies in five days and they haven't been separated much at all...
If you have the level of obedience in the dogs where you can have one in a place non active and one active that your working then thats good... If you have no obedience in the dogs at early stages then it can be best to have only one dog out at a time and the others away to save on the others freaking out.
Hey bro any advice I have two presa litter mates a male and a female individually there obedience is amazing just when I let them play together they do not listen I train and walk them individually at the moment there nearly 10 months I'd like to be able to train them both together and walk them both is my goal please any tips and anyone reading this please check my channel and any advice is welcome
They are old enough to take direction from you and not ignore you when their sibling is there. Work on rules for the house, no barking, rough housing inside. Then stop all bad behavior at the door. Dont take them walking if they are not sitting and paying attention to you when you walk out that door. And rushing to get out. Stop and put them inside. Remove leashes, no walk. They will learn quick to pay attention and stop messing about.
Hi, I have a question, and I would be soo gratefull if u could answer it Soon im bringing home a new puppy a belgian malinois, and i know a lo a lot about dog obediance and everything, but I already have a westhighland white terrier at home and hes 7 yeara old although he looks like 2-3 years... And he is a dominant male, and everytime a puppy jumps around or on him he wants to show the puppy hes dominant in a way to grow and mybe nibble him and get on top, when i get a new puppy first ill take my older dog for a run to drain his energy but when i come home and i let the puppy in and they meet, if he tryes to be dominant over the puppy should i let him or imidietly take him of? i mean he is the older dog in the house and a puppy needs to know it but please give me your advice, thank you :)

train one on one first then after they are doing good bring them together. One can watch and learn while it waits also.

Train separate in beginning then bring them together.

I have 3 dogs they will not come back when distracted. One to one not too bad. What can I do I'm on edge all the time walking them off lead.

It actually does not matter as long as your consistent.

My wife doesn't believe in crating... happy medium of tying dog to tree while working other dog? And of course addressing bad behavior??
