It amazes me how there has been such a big increase in the number of cars on the roads of Vientiane in the last 10-15 years - very large cars as well.

Hi Todd,,that is a damned impressive building! I always love the drone shots over town. With all the colors and textures, it makes me feel like I'm embracing the whole area,,I giant metaphysical hug if you will lmao . Thanks my friend,, for giving me these little runarounds. They definitely help me de-stress,,,gives me a sense of calm. Maybe that's just the Buddha thing. I noticed that temple in the drone shots,, I was amazed the stupa's showed up so well from that far away. We are in the middle of a bit of a thunder and lightning show right now,, with rain thank goodness. We had lightening the other day that was dry. Started over 40 small fires in the area. The rain smells of heaven,, especially after being dry for the last 2 weeks. Thank Todd be safe,,,ttyl ,,,Marlon
Just a village only. Better than a village in USA or the other parts of the world. Nice life will be, nice activities, and I hope the cities of Lao PDR will look more like Paris or London.

Hi Todd. It might be worth mentioning that everywhere is just a collection of villages with all the political structure that goes with that. So all thought it is Vientiane city its just a load of connected villages.Another point is that there are almost no street names other than in the center of main cities. Vang Vieng for example has no road names so no postal service.

I live in Thailand (Udonthani) and have been contemplating on moving to Laos .
Convention center is in Nong Bouathong. Only about 3-4 mins away

Jao Sabaidee.. Very little. I know some words, enough to be able to shop, but i can't have a conversation.

Do you have much trouble with mozzies an bugs ,spiders, and bloody snakes , there were plenty of snakes in patong ,
gordo 1 Lots and lots of insects! 😆🦗🦂🕷🐜🦟 Fortunately, mozzies in Vientiane carry dengue but not malaria unlike in other parts of the country. We also have some pretty massive spiders, scorpions, loads of different kinds of ants (total pain in the arse as they get into houses), termites, cockroaches, crickets, cicadas, beetles etc etc etc. Snakes are not too bad in Vientiane but it depends on your area and state of your garden - I’ve had a fair few in my garden over the years - some poisonous and some not. When I lived in the provinces, there was a cobra nest under the house and seeing larger snakes was a pretty regular occurrence. Luckily, they don’t like being near us any more than we like being near them.

@@gordo191 Spiders are nothing compared to what we put up with in Aus mate, but Tia is right about the ants, bloody everywhere. Mozzies can be a pain as they're smaller and more silent than what we're used to.. Yeah, plenty of snakes mate, seem to love our pond 😏

Laos has a population of about 5 million. So, that means USA has 8X the more people who are homeless. People in Laos are poor in western standards but they still have a means to live and survive. They have their land that they have been living on for thousands of years.
